I was an Army MP over 35 years ago and we wore Corcoran jump boots that you could actually see yourself in the shine when you were done polishing. The worst was when you gouged the toe cap of the boot getting in and out of the jeep because you know how long it takes to fix it. Typically I had 3 pair )2 for duty and 1 for inspections). A friendly tip: Put water in the wax lid with an ice cube, make small circles in a long row and use cotton a cloth not a poly blend.

Nice job. When I started in my job, nearly everyone shined their boots. Now- no one gives a shit about that. It’s a shame- shined boots are professional and shows pride in your job.

The best feeling is after all the hard work the mirror shine starts coming up. Good job.👍

Awesome! I have Danner Fort Lewis boots that I love. I’ve been trying to figure it all out and I’m dialing it in. They’re old and beat up, scuffed, slightly faded but still just got them to come out looking good after 8 hours of this.

Classic technique! I still have my jump boots, and I got out in 1985. I'll have to take them out for a walk! I have a pair of Acadias, too, the 400g ones, so they'll be in use in another month or so.

Better than most videos for time and effort compared to most I've seen,so good job. At least you didn't post a video like some soldiers I've seen that said to use hair spray lol.
If I were to critique it honestly, they could be more shiny with more layers of polish and actual spit.
Fact....as a Veteran that's shined boots and always got compliments on them and actually had a squad leader shave using my boots to prove to other soldiers in our section that he could shave off of the mirror shine on my boots and still pass inspection,it's not a spit shine at all unless you actually use spit like I did.
To each their own but in my opinion, using spit gives you a way better shine. I feel like using spit during the whole process after melting the kiwi into the pores helps break the kiwi down and fills the pores better and gives you a better and smoother/more shiny finish.
I have used a hot air gun, blow dryer, and lighter before, but I usually just used a lighter very carefully with kiwi and spit. They all work though.
Also, the rag you used for applying the kiwi should only be used to buff the shine when done in my opinion. Use a 100% cotton shirt when applying kiwi and polishing then buff with the other rag you were using in the video when finished or another clean cotton t shirt or panty hose if you're not to manly to buy one lol. I always used an old brown military issued t shirt to apply kiwi and polish the boots and use small circles while polishing.
If you want to go the extra mile before inspection, use,a kiwi quick shine sponge a few minutes before inspection to get that extra wet look. You'll never get gigged for it and do push ups again.🙂

Thank you for sharing this. I watched it like 6 times the part where you polished, sprayed water, polished, added a dab of polish ect. They look great! I’m trying to get my old scratched boots to look good and they are getting there. I used my girlfriends hair drier but it doesn’t work like a heat gun.

I use saddle soap first and then start layering on the spit shine. In the USAF, we had to shine the heel too. I never shined my Danners like this though, they were my flight boots and got beat up. Jump boots were set aside for formal garrison days.

In the army, we dont shine boots, it was a new concept for me to learn when I joined the law enforcement. Those who came from the navy and air force already knew the shining game ✨

I want to military school for 6 years the lighter or heat gun works great in a pinch but if you do it to much you’ll start to get cracks in the leather also using heat will always leave a haze on the shine compared to just spit shining would be a real glass finish. But great video love the content!

Is there something on the boots that cause the polish to flake off? I've been applying polish but after walking each day the polish flakes off and the actual shows

@@osvaldos6127 i went one size higher and its just MASSIVE so i only wear it for events with class A’s. I highly recommend trying it in person before buying it because its hit or miss when it comes to the size there is no right answer
