    As much as people hate on the G80, I recently saw the proof in the pudding. Pure sheet of ice up hill while everyone couldn't go anywhere I gently crawled all the way to the top in my Tahoe.

    Idk many hate on the g80 but I put 30,000 miles on it and whenever I blew the g80 the truck had 320,000 miles on it. And I put 30k miles of burnouts,gravel roads at 100, and drifting tf out it and it help up great.

    Or you can break lock, dunno if it works on an automatic but it works in my stickshift jeep, never needed lockers or limited slip, can just lightly press the break and it sends power to all wheels but you will lose a bit of power over all while doing it. Its not always what your driving or how its built, sometimes its just the skill of the driver.

    • @garrettwhite9071
      @garrettwhite9071 8 років тому +2

      you can do same trick by applying a regulated amount of E break for the rear wheels

    • @JeepJeep234
      @JeepJeep234 8 років тому +1

      That can add excessive wear to the E brake. And the more you do it the less its effective.

      No, look at the decal on bed the 2wd it doesn't say 4x4, I know cuz I got one and its a small detail but you can tell cuz the 4x4 say Z71 4x4 the 2wd just says Z71.

    at our dealer in the service dept. we call them "Gov bombs" they explode if you get on them hard enough, and often enough. The truck with the posi diff that "didn't make it" actually didn't have a posi diff. I had a limited slip diff installed in my Ford Ranger and it performed better than all these trucks. The G80 is for people that never have to work on them. They suck. There's other youtubes on how they suck.

    simply apply brakes gently, the wheels with the least amount of traction suddenly locks leaving the others with the power to get up the hill.

      @@unicornsteaks6769 I have the G80 in my 2004 Z71. I have always loved it. Last time I serviced the rear diff, I found all the teeth on my spider gears were chipped. Still locks up when I need it to. It’s got some humming going on so I’m about to put an Eaton Detroit TrueTrac in it as soon as it comes in. With that said, I cannot say anything bad about my G80. She’s tired because of my stupidity, plain and simple. Lol.

  • @Carder2009
    @Carder2009 11 років тому

    Too bad the G80 is weak, at least in the GMT-800 models, and will likely blow up on you if you off road or even tow alot. Throw some Detroit's in there and call it a day.

    • @TheMrbeasely
      @TheMrbeasely 6 років тому +14

      Gotta love these generalized comments. So tell us what percentage of all G80s in vehicles failed. To make such a definitive statement you must have analyzed a large data set, over numerous years, and compared the vehicles equipped with the G80 yo determine the percentage that failed. Or you’re just stating an opinion and don’t have a clue. I’m guessing it’s the latter.

    • @sectech221
      @sectech221 3 роки тому

      @@TheMrbeasely I agree with you. Certainly the latter. I’ve been really hard on my 2004 Z71, doing things that certainly cause differential failures. Serviced it recently and noticed all of my spider gears have chips in the teeth. However, she still locks up EVERY time I need it to. Plus I don’t know how the previous owner treated it. I can’t knock my G80 though.

    I seen this same test done on the same course by Cars.com in real time. The F150 and Tundra were the only two vehicles to do it in 2wd, Chev was the best out of everyone(Dodge & Nissan) who had to use 4wd but it didn't do it in 2wd.
