Big difference between 4x4 off road and 4x4 on road
All this electronic lcd stuff these days is all dog water
Idk many hate on the g80 but I put 30,000 miles on it and whenever I blew the g80 the truck had 320,000 miles on it. And I put 30k miles of burnouts, gravel roads at 100, and drifting tf out it and it help up great.
Coptic marsel vanes
Limited slip will get you stuck even on this slight grade it didn't work.
I seen this same test done on the same course by Cars.com in real time. The F150 and Tundra were the only two vehicles to do it in 2wd, Chev was the best out of everyone(Dodge & Nissan) who had to use 4wd but it didn't do it in 2wd.
My 2005 f150 has the 9.75 rear end Posi and air lockers all time 4 wheel drive real machin in the mud and winter best off road rig i ever bought
G80 is factory? Why would you bring this up?
at our dealer in the service dept. we call them "Gov bombs" they explode if you get on them hard enough, and often enough. The truck with the posi diff that "didn't make it" actually didn't have a posi diff. I had a limited slip diff installed in my Ford Ranger and it performed better than all these trucks. The G80 is for people that never have to work on them. They suck. There's other youtubes on how they suck.
Stupid people are the ones blowing up the g80 stupid enough to abuse them.
Have it in my 02 Silverado do a burnout 1 tire fire at first Then BOOM G80 2 WHEELS SPINNIN
try a Yukon Gear Dura Grip posi diff. They destroy the G80 Chinese finger trap diff.
They do work great.
Is this a lowes commercial?
Yes it is.
Yeah until they blow up
Well, mine's a decade old and still works fine. Let me guess, you've never had one?
Mine has lasted 13 years and I abuse the hell out of it. I got a 2006 colorado z71 rwd and it never fails i got stuck once and it sensed it and it actually propelled me out and my friends 4x4 jeep renegade couldn't get out it just spun. G80 is great if you ask me
@@unicornsteaks6769 mines13 years old too.
@@dannyquijada1797 I have a couple vehicles with them. The older vehicle is 18 years old, no problem with the G80 long term even with some offroad abuse.
@@unicornsteaks6769 I have the G80 in my 2004 Z71. I have always loved it. Last time I serviced the rear diff, I found all the teeth on my spider gears were chipped. Still locks up when I need it to. It’s got some humming going on so I’m about to put an Eaton Detroit TrueTrac in it as soon as it comes in. With that said, I cannot say anything bad about my G80. She’s tired because of my stupidity, plain and simple. Lol.
Does the g80 also come with a turbo encabulator??
G80 is worth every penny. such a low cost option and such benefit. dont let them sell u a vehicle without it.
As much as people hate on the G80, I recently saw the proof in the pudding. Pure sheet of ice up hill while everyone couldn't go anywhere I gently crawled all the way to the top in my Tahoe.
I miss that feature in my old Envoy, man that thing would crawl.
Or you can break lock, dunno if it works on an automatic but it works in my stickshift jeep, never needed lockers or limited slip, can just lightly press the break and it sends power to all wheels but you will lose a bit of power over all while doing it. Its not always what your driving or how its built, sometimes its just the skill of the driver.
you can do same trick by applying a regulated amount of E break for the rear wheels
That can add excessive wear to the E brake. And the more you do it the less its effective.
+JeepJeep234 yes for sure but more of something to do in a pinch
same with added wear to your rear brakes. I'd rather install an arb, grizzly locker, or trutrac.
My Jeep has brake locking diff. It senses tire spin and brakes that wheel forcing the torque to the other wheel.
I've got it on my '10 Colorado. Great feature.
I have an Eaton posi with 3.23's and its a monster on the dirt or street, I love my Eaton posi it let's me eat camaros , mustang, lightnings all day...
Too bad the G80 is weak, at least in the GMT-800 models, and will likely blow up on you if you off road or even tow alot. Throw some Detroit's in there and call it a day.
Gotta love these generalized comments. So tell us what percentage of all G80s in vehicles failed. To make such a definitive statement you must have analyzed a large data set, over numerous years, and compared the vehicles equipped with the G80 yo determine the percentage that failed. Or you’re just stating an opinion and don’t have a clue. I’m guessing it’s the latter.
@@TheMrbeasely I agree with you. Certainly the latter. I’ve been really hard on my 2004 Z71, doing things that certainly cause differential failures. Serviced it recently and noticed all of my spider gears have chips in the teeth. However, she still locks up EVERY time I need it to. Plus I don’t know how the previous owner treated it. I can’t knock my G80 though.
their first "2wd with the eaton g80" is a 4 wheel drive with 2 engaged. you can see the front diff when the truck moves farther up the hill
Yea so what it was in 2wd mode. Same as a 2wd truck
No, look at the decal on bed the 2wd it doesn't say 4x4, I know cuz I got one and its a small detail but you can tell cuz the 4x4 say Z71 4x4 the 2wd just says Z71.
i love the 2wd truck with the locker pretty funny seeings how it says z71 on the side and the last one that is "4wd" is wayyy to low the the ground to be 4wd
i have the 14 bolt g80 in my suburban it does great very smooth and fast lock up whenever needed. very sturdy rear end.
simply apply brakes gently, the wheels with the least amount of traction suddenly locks leaving the others with the power to get up the hill.
+1 lol
Lalalalalalala soo uncoordinated XD lalalalalalala
Z71 is the off road suspension and gear package not always 4wd
btube325 it also has a bigger radiator and skid plates
yup, our two wheel drive truck, never mind the Z71 4x4 sticker....
4wd not engaged
..no problem...
