Stompin' at the Savoy is a swing-era jazz standard written by alto saxophonist Edgar Sampson in 1933 and was the theme song of the Savoy Ballroom's theme band, led by Chick Webb.
In this lesson, you will learn a chord melody arrangement of Stompin' in the original key of Db major.
Love the wide-angle camera shot. Too Kool!
Beatiful the great Benny Goodman!
You make it look so effortless! Im having trouble just belting out the first couple chords lol
Working my way through this. Thank you very much! I love how this is a self comping type arrangement.
Beautiful

Thank you very much Dirk.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice!

Loved your rendition of this song! Also loved the deep dark sound of the amp. What Fender amp were you using? Were you recording directly from the amp or dd you use an interface? Thanks.
Thanks Dave! It's a Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb. I use the direct out of the amp going to my audio interface
wowwwwwww!!!!
Nice……ooh yea….☮️🎶🔛🌎
I've been practicing this tune for ten months now, and still can't nail it like Dirk can. I get all the notes, but the subtle musicality is missing.

How do you pick the five note chords?
I wonder the same question. I guess he just plays 4 notes in order to be able to pick single notes with a pick.
@@lotos0990 I see this a lot in transcriptions; my guess is that, the program that creates the transcription must add in that (fifth) note to show the whole chord? Glad we have the video of him playing it, as it doesn't appear that he's hitting that other note (unless he's doing it with his thumb really quick like, which doesn't seem reasonable or musical).
Very Nice congratuletions 👌👌
Thanks Roberto!
