I have been focused on pop songwriting which is very rewarding, but my ear has suffered because I haven't kept up. I think I'll start with this tune and your lesson. Do you think it would be good use of practice time to take real book songs, figure out scales and modes associated with the chords, and practice soloing, or is there another way that might be better? Like on any other island, too. Soloing is soloing, no matter the island you're sitting on. That's the beauty of really learning how to play an instrument. Once you know, you know :)
