"I lost the habit of going fast..." And that's one of the main reasons, in this age of fast-everything and immediate consumption, why we love you guys :)
I know it is due to your time in Architecture school but you two have a sense of style and design that filters into your videos every time and makes them a cut above any others on UA-cam. Great stuff!
Their drone work is some of the best I've seen on UA-cam. While other sailing channels put all their money into their big boats, I sense that Dan and Kika have invested way more in cameras and drones.
I was lucky enough to visit Iceland in the 1990s in fairly cold and snowy March/April with my wife and our kids when they were just little. It was before the tourism bomb went off. When we visited Gullfoss there were only the four of us and one other couple there at the time! We went to the Blue Lagoon when it was just a small pool and with a couple of wooden huts for the changing rooms. It was actually a kilometre or two a bit further along the road from where it is now. It was amazing. It snowed on our heads. Later on we took them to an outdoor municipal swimming pool where they had loads of fun. I've been back to Iceland three times since then. Last time we went to the new Blue Lagoon and it was OK swimming (and drinking prosecco!) but it was 100% touristy, extortionately expensive and just too 'smart'. One of the things I love about Iceland is how laid back and unpretentious it is. The opposite of The Blue Lagoon. There are smaller and much better places to swim. Or just go to a swimming pool like Árbæjarlaug. They are all either completely or partially outdoor, a fraction of the price and you'll be surounded by Icelanders rather than other foreign tourists.
Yep I agree - if you go to the touristy bits you'll find lots of tourists, not that they're not spectacular but there's a huge island to explore full of some great things, just further from the airport :-)! A bit like everything really!
I have to admit that I haven't been watching because where you were was beautiful and so very cold and it's been so cold where I am. I am saving those cold ones for when I'm sweating in Summer to binge watch. I'm back now and I have to say that watching you on land is just as enjoyable. Anything through your eyes is precious. Thanks!
Spectacular filming once again. You two are amazing, thanks for all you do to make these vids and bringing us along. Forever grateful n safe venture ahead.
Your videography skills have blossomed so much from the first days. I’m very impressed with your drone flying and your editing is second to none. Thank you for taking us along on your wonderful adventures. You are living such rich and full lives. 🙏❤️
There's nothing as exciting for sailors as going ashore on some shore leave. The excitement when you both go exploring is fun to watch. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Wow! a lot of "time travel" in this video. Using Google maps, I looked at the travel times between each stop in the video. I'm currently planning a holiday to Iceland in Winter of 2023, and this is most helpful and informative video. I know that I need to make my reservation for the Blue Lagoon, as well as other destination, soon. Always a pleasure watching you both explore and enjoy. You, and Zatara, just keep fueling y desire to learn to sail, and get out there to explore my world!
@@kaykeelan3765 As in Norway I'm sure the waiters and taxi drivers on Iceland appreciate if you round up the bill with a little tip ,,, at least if they give a decent service. In the Nordic countries (as opposed to the 2xtax norm in N-Am) tip is not part of the salary, and as far as I know - at least in restaurants/bars - all the tip is divided equally btw all the personell.
@@SteifWood Oh, we did tip but they were just so shy about accepting it, we were charmed - and service was good all round. This was just after the Icelandic catastrophe in 2007/8 and they were so glad to have visitors.
Guess I lied when I said I was only here for the sailing. Loved this episode...watching you guys make the best of a crowded tourist destination and finding a way to get in some quiet time.
You guys never disappoint! Your drone footage is outstanding, your still shots are impeccable, and even though many us will never be able to go to these amazing countries and continents, I’m so thankful you take us along and show us the beauty and hot spots through your skills at videography, cinematography, and editing!
Yeah! How fun. You two are sooo fun. Love you guys. Thank you. Love your courage and adventurism. Always exciting..looking forward to many more years. Thank U.
My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Iceland in the latter part of May 2021. The area that you hiked up to to show it was left of the volcano had not even been covered with lava at that point and the volcano itself was still very active. While I know you're disappointed at not being able to see the volcano in all its beauty and glory, I greatly appreciate what images you were able to share as it gives me great perspective as to the power and forces of nature and how much can change in a relatively short amount of time. When my wife and I went to Iceland, it was to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary as well as her birthday. Seeing the sites and places that you have visited has brought back many wonderful memories of our time together in Iceland. Thanks so much for sharing!
Your drone shots and the spontaneous communication on location even the hand-held coverage is a class in its own. To tell the truth it felt as if I was there in person
Loved the waste water comments! In Gore (Southland NZ) in the mid 1960s we used to swim in a public swimming pool that was heated by the cooling water of the local porridge factory! Not the same I know, but hey, it was in 1960's New Zealand and porridge was one of the basic food groups in those days!
I did the tourist thing in Iceland a few years ago and it really is beautiful. The Blue Lagoon is a fantastic experience and if you go in the winter then the extreme steam hides everyone else from you making it almost romantic.
So much effort into capturing all these angles, shots of you arriving, shots of you leaving, and even the one where the car follows the drone so closely. Stellar job you two!
We saw the Basalt columns in so many places in North America from Newfoundland to the west coast. There’s another beautiful feature in Iceland that you might run into: “One of our most spectacular is Svartifoss waterfall, located in the Skaftafell section of Vatnajökull national park.” Thank you for all you do!
What a cool ride down memory lane. I lived in Iceland for 2 years when NAS Keflavik was still a base. My first daughter was even born there. What a beautiful country! Blue Lagoon was much more humble back then. Simply drive up the dirt road and walk in. No crowds and no reservations for anything back then (1992-1993). Enjoyed yet another episode Dan and Kika!
There’s not a channel of any genre that videos and or chronicles their travels as well as you two. Last video I watched was the flyby with the ocean birds between the drone and Uma. This one was the amazing Birdseye view of your vehicle traveling. The scenery you guys shoot is always breathtaking. But some of the technical camera tricks with the drone just adds a professional quality to the episodes like really, no one else’s.
I'm surprised you guys did the Blue Lagoon! I wish I had the foresight to recommend the Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River. It's about an hour's hike up the Reykjadalur Valley but the views are amazing and the thermal river is much less crowded.
I visited Iceland Sept/October last year and when I was there I spent a night in a "tiny house" Air BnB that was right next to the parking lot for the beach with basalt columns; Reynisfjara. The cottage was built of stone and was originally a place to store barrels of fermented fish so they could survive the winter. It was incredible to walk out on the beach after dark when all of the other tourists have gone. It was also crazy windy the night I was there so not great for photography/filming or even hanging out for more than 20-30 minutes. That Air BnB rental was one of the highlights of my visit to Iceland though.
I don't take for granted the extra effort you give to producing such quality work. Really, driving over the camera? We've come to expect flawless drone tricks. Such attention to detail. It's like we're there. Maybe even better. lol.
I assumed that the final scene required them to turn back about a kilometre to retrieve the camera 📷. But after reading your comment, I guess they just used the drone, and flew it up to the car.
You guys need to come to Madeira. Between the main island and Porto Santo you will have your wall to your self, cliffs to climb, mountains etc etc. No active volcanos but lot of rock, history and nature, x
Stunning aerial footage! Just when I think I've seen the best video that you've ever put out, you go and top yourself. Well done. Seriously. Keep up the good work.
What a difference than usually :-D, refreshing, i like everything shown here, and the best is when the complete adventure is included, even it is on "dry" land and no sail today.
Albeit your very kind patron loaning the car, it's so apparent that Iceland has not failed to dissapoint you guys. It does score about a hundred down on my list of places to visit, glad you confirmed my thoughts.
It's a cryin' shame that y'all don't have any fun doing what you do. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into bringing us along on your adventures.
The title sent my mind racing lol....I'll just watch the video, and maybe seek professional help hahahaa love your channel! Cheers from Southern California USA 🇺🇸
Never been to Iceland and probably never will. Again a big thank you for showing we viewers one amazing volcanic country. Look forward for more videos of Iceland, its county, its people and its history!
Super episode as always! Fantastic video photography! You had me worried there though with the title ... I thought you paid a visit to Kalkofnsvegur 2, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland. Maybe that's planned for the next episode, LOL !!!!!
Very cool. We just visited many of the same places in Iceland in February. It was fun to see what they look like in the summer without snow. Spent the day at the Blue Lagoon and was there while it was snowing. It was not too crowded and much nicer to be there in the winter than the summer.
A long time on my bucket list, Iceland: thanks for taking me there 👍. It's not too far to sail from the UK...one day...and hopefully meet you guys again (we saw you at Southampton boat show 2019, a lifetime ago and almost another world) Take care
You're one of the few influencers I click on the like button before watching! Since Iceland has become one of the newest tourist destinations, this was quite helpful. Thanks for the tour.😎
I like that no matter where you are and what you are doing you somehow always manage to be at the beach.

Seeing how crowded tourist attractions can be certainly does make you appreciate Jan Mayen and Svalbard and Rio Dulce that much more!
When I think about you having to set up each shot to take us along with you on your hikes it makes me appreciate your channel even more.
Now that’s an eye catching headline.
Outstanding drone photography, music and video integration. Well done.
Drone footage from 10:00 - 10:15 - worth a million likes. Splendid, just like to wish you Thank you.
Your videos are pure art! The angle of the shots. The moving drone shots. The choice of locations! The editing! Absolutely amazing! Great job!
You guys are hilarious. That thumbnail had me in stitches.🤣
