Very positive role model ka para sa mga Pinoy at Amerikano or sa ibang lahi about the Pinoys and their love for basketball. Nakakamangha ang isang kagaya mo. You're so amazing. Sana ipagpatuloy mo ang goal mo to continue to love Pinoys and the Phlippines. More power to you.
whoa! I am so impressed with these foreigners who speak Filipino and who are openly appreciative of our culture and country. Sana ganun din mga Filipinos who grew up abroad, pr even the Filipinos who grew up in the Philippines. :(
Rafe, I can see that you're a good man coz you don't speak with "a forked tongue". I love your sincerity and I wish you the best success for your book and your Tagalog skills. I hope you take the language with you wherever you go and make more Filipino friends along the way. Kudos and more success to you.
My ex-girlfriend was born and raised in the Philippines, didn't immigrate to the US until she was almost 18. Her family, which included her parents, aunts, uncles, etc. were all born and lived for decades in the Philippines. They ALL use a lot of English words when speaking Tagalog. It's very common, and not just among people who aren't good at the language, but even among native speakers.
So glad to hear that. :-) Thank you. I am now starting to collect books about the Philippines both written by Pinoys and foreigners. Maybe when I go back to the Philippines, I'd buy your book. :-) or is it available online?
he is really amazing.... I do believe in him, because of his much appreciation of our country, unlike those some Pilipinos abroad thay they have re-nounced completely and ridiculed the Pilipino race.....
@walangkeber - this guy is happy and to be more proud of the filipino culture ..took the effort and time and heart to speak this language and he probably does a more positive influence on the filipino community than you ever have
omg! I had nooo idea this dude was American when he started talking in Tagalog! I didn't even realize it until I scrolled up and saw this white guy talking :O! His accent is ten times better than mine and I'm a half Filipina who went to an Filipino-American school! GALING!!!!!
@PaulKevin14 Well, English is our first language so Its kind of hard to forget it! English is 1 of the top languages spoken around the world! So mejo hard malimutan an English no
@s0ulshad0w Probably because we are used to hearing a more Spanish-sounding accent. Which, the Visayan language has an accent very similar to Spanish compared to the traditional accent of Tagalog. :) FK
of course.... i hate who hates country... but PEACE OUT can meet in a nice person. maybe kids or teenage crazy... they will grow up to learn about respect
I hear Spanish words! And yes, I know that words would have integrated into the various indigenous languages from the colonial period. This just the first time that I'm actually hearing the mixture.
Philippines was colonised by both America and Spain so Tagalog includes some words from both languages, but Philippines is an independent country now :)
grabe ka ang galing mong Filipino! magaling ka pa sa akin mag convey ng message sa Filipino! Salamat sa pagmamahal mo sa Pilipinas!
