Not a good start to the day, huge emotional bursts like that but the body, mind and soul, hopefully you settled with thoughts that you did your best for he deer and she's ok and a chance of surviving, hope the rest of your day went well with he MRI, easy on the soul...regards Les
I was pretty good the rest of the day until “Gloria” texted me saying that the bad dog owner was in her yard screaming at the neighborhood that “karma’s a bitch.” I can’t worry too much about anything. What were we supposed to do? Let their dogs murder a deer in Gloria’s backyard? It is what it is 🤷🏻♀️
What a traumatic and powerful sharing of your morning! I was thinking it would probably take me several hours to decompress from all of that. Best of luck with everything, Too bad to hear your neighbors react like that. You already stated, irresponsible pet owners. Fyi- I came across your channel via the astro photography side. The tour of your dome and equipment 🔭was great! The positivity of your journey is amazing... Cheers
So happy to have you along for our astro journey, as well as the stories in between (even the crazy ones)! It certainly took the psychological wind out of me yesterday, but I recovered and got a lot of sleep so that helps big time! Thank you so much for your encouragement and support for this channel and the vision I have for it moving forward! It really does mean a lot to me.
Two words, pepper spray and once sprayed doubtful those dogs go into your yard again. Was it a Doe or Buck? Does are thinner in the body and front shoulders than Bucks and don't weigh much more than 100 lbs full grown and a Buck would be mature if it was close to 200 lbs. That is big for a Whitetail male unless you live out West where they have Mule Deer? In March the Bucks wouldn't have antlers yet as they shed them in Winter, but they start growing in March, or April further North. Where I lived dogs running deer wasn't tolerated and their owners would be visited by a Game Warden or a Sheriff if they became a nuisance. Next time call your state's version of Fish and Game and see what they have to say, they might have some regulations pertaining to the situation. Dogs harassing deer messes with their natural cycles, but in a suburban situation other rules may apply.
I was so mad because I had pepper spray and in the heat of the moment I didn’t even think to use it! I had never been in a situation like that so it never crossed my mind until after the fact of course. I think it might have been a doe, even just given its docile behavior. We’ve had many bucks around here and they are much more defensive than this deer was. I will absolutely keep all your tips in mind about the fish and game department and others similar. It just caught me so off guard, but I’m sure I’ll be more cognizant of how to handle a situation like that better if it happens again. Such a horrible way to learn some hard lessons.

That's definitely a difficult situation.
So happy to report that it hasn’t happened again so far! 🤞🏻🙏🏻
