Hi Kara, I saw the video on you and your husband were installing the new and very impressive telescope. I’d been taking pics since I’m 14 years old with my father’s Minolta Maxxum 7000 AF. I bought my first Nikon at age 22. By chance I’d seen astrophotography channels on UA-cam and decided to buy a Celestron C6 XLT with an AVX mount. I’d been very unsuccessful due to bad weather and working 90 hours a week in a very fast paced, very stressful airport environment. Also I have to deal with ADD. One part of me says let’s go outside, meet new people, enjoy life. The other part of me says I’m a completely useless good for nothing kind of guy that started a lot of projects but ended not finishing a single one. It’s like having an angel on one shoulder and one little devil on the other shoulder, while both are talking to you at the same time. Sometimes I’m very successful telling both the angel and the devil to leave me alone and to shut up!!! Then I took my cameras, tripods, lenses, camping equipment, diving equipment, stove, ice cooler on the trunk on my small SUV and go on a road trip!!! But most of the year, I’m working nonstop while daydreaming about the lots of stuff I would like to do if money and time are not an issue. I’m 54 and never got married. My last relationship was 10 years ago and lasted for 7 years together. Let’s say she got tired of my ADD dealing with her OCD or viceversa. I remember one night when she discovered that I “wasted” $5.00 on a camera filter that I bought second hand on eBay. She screamed and yelled so loud at me, that I wanted to die that night feeling that I was the most miserable man on Earth!!! At least you have a very intelligent and loving husband that enjoy astronomy and astrophotography. And I can tell that you spent a corner of Fort Knox on the dome, computers, and telescope!!! I want to see more content like yours for being very down to Earth and humble about your Bipolar Disorder. It makes me feel less lonely too! But also I would like to see the process of looking for objects, taking pics and editing those Astro images on the computer.

I am an old guy. In the old days simpler terms made things easier. There was such a thing as SADISTS . Please don't give your power to SADISTIC FOLK. They get off on hurting You. Its simple even if it's SICK. Walking away from it makes you strong. Understanding sadism is like understanding cancer. If you dont have it, you dont need to. Flush this influence from your life.

That's amazing what you can capture. I had no idea that you could get such detailed images in your backyard.

I can really relate to your experience. The ones that have used me the most were the closest ones in my life including family. It’s hard to say no to people but it teaches us that’s it all right. Having bipolar is very tough and finding someone to support us is just another level of the disorder. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to following you.

Kara I just re-watched this video. I must say your closing statements regarding "community" are inspiring. I like how you offer aspirations/humility to whomever watches your channel, whether for Astro or Mental health. The airlines is now like a greyhound bus in the sky. We do not air travel unless it’s absolutely necessary as people are totally out of control and don’t care about anyone else but themselves. Stay calm, breathe and know you are loved and not alone.

You really need that dome with an opening to use that telescope? I don't see how it would be any different than just setting up in the big open yard

Nice image of both Nebula and look good,all processing is a personal take on the target with the amount of palettes available and all involves artistic licence, the same applies to my side with Solar Imaging, the colour used in various wavelengths. And yes, the way tech has evolved so fast in all imaging and software...clear skies

Comparing yourself to people that we don't know well is usually pointless because people hide their true selves. So we often end up comparing our worst side to their best side.

Thoughts on rage. Rage is there to protect you from physical abuse and murder. If an animal or a human is attacking you physically rage is appropriate. It just comes up at inappropriate times as well.

Always remember when flying in an airplane and the oxygen masks drop from the ceiling, put your mask on before trying to help anyone else. If you don't take care of yourself, you likely will not be able to care for others. I am a caregiver for a bipolar person, so I understand the challenges. Astrophotography is an excellent activity for self-care. Avoiding or walking away from toxic people and situations is sometimes necessary. Comparing oneself to other people is usually counterproductive. -All from my experience.

Your feeling are valid, and you are heard. I finally found my voice 4 yrs ago, and now I’m heard. You will find it to. Praying you feel better soon 🙏

What a heartfelt share, my heart goes out to you! So sorry you had to go through all of that, hopefully now that you are in Homebase you can re-strengthen yourself and work thru this trauma❤

You were in an unforeseen situation that was very difficult to live with and really delicate. Significant points, you wanted at all costs to preserve your relationship with your uncle and you were in this person's house. In these circumstances, it isn't easy to manage for anyone, and optimal decisions are not necessarily applicable. We do not have the power to change a person's behavior. I wish you clear nights and the possibility to take great pictures.

Its OK to say no...... Remove toxic folks from your life....

So sorry this has happened, some people seem to gloat about knowing they can push people to this...in this you get back what you give out there times good or bad, you'll recover you have strength....concentrate on what you enjoy....clear skies and vibes..keep safe

There is one thing I have found helpful in recent years - I don't know where it originates from. "Be careful what you tolerate because it teaches others how to treat you" I've found it useful.
