im 22 yrs and yesterday ive just laid the windshield on my 68 Firebird 350 h.o finshing the build. Its been a dream i had since i was 17 (when i first got it). It was rough but everytime i went to work on it, that didnt matter at all, its mine. this is fuel to keep the torch lit. Great build guys.

As the owner of 11 69 birds over 15 years, it's nice seeing someone taking this project on. I still have my first 69. Got it free from my buddy as a ready to sand blast shell with boxes and boxes of parts. Drove it until kids and wife.
Back in '72 my ride was a '68 Firechicken, 400 H/O, Holley 750 double pumper, complete Accel ignition (coil, wires, plugs), 3/4 cam, Blackjack headers, Hurst competition shifter, 22" Mickey Thompson street slicks and a big ass pair of shackles on the back end (LOL ...couldn't afford air shocks). The coolest feature was the speedometer....it went to 160 mph. Never buried it, but had it up to 150. That car had balls the size of watermelons.
I remember seeing those 160MPH Speedometers. 😮. Most cars were 120MPH. Then the 80's came with 85 MPH Speedos with the "infamous" 55😢 highlighted on the dial 🤮 Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55" comes to mind.😁 So does those speeding tickets of my carefree youth. Lol 😂😂😂

I had 1968 Firebird 400 /4 speed all original factory scoop the most beautiful car in my city… 30 sum years ago I sold it to some guy from New Zealand.
I remember my first car was a 1971 Pontiac Lemans 2-door coupe, It was Aztec Gold color with a brown vinyl top & had Pontiac sport wheels with the ruby red PMD center caps on the wheels. That was one neat looking car & had a 350 V-8.
Great video - My first car was a 69 Pontiac Catalina with a 400 engine and it had exactly the same problem with sludge blocking the oil pump. I attributed it to using leaded gasoline because my sludge was grey in color. Shut it down after a low oil pressure startup and removed the oil pan to clean and fix the problem. Still got a few more years on it. That car ran for over 12 years and over 160,000 miles until rust from being driven in Syracuse, NY cracked the frame over the drive axle and it got sold to a junk yard.
My guess is the oil problem was primarily the dented pan causing the pickup to be so close to the bottom and sucking up all the sludge. Normally there would be more space and the sludge would’ve stayed on the bottom below the pickup. Glad you’re saving her, everyone always loves the Camaros but I always thought the birds were really cool!
I hope ya keep that bird because it's definitely a attention getter and perfect for turnin rust kinda billboard to drive around and because you deserve a hotrod to cruise around

my dad was a logger for years. made dam good money.he was always dragging things home. most of my life there's been something beside the garage. that's how a man stayed home. 57 chevy's mustangs, chargers. yea when my dad was teamster. cars all over.
i think centerbolt valve covers were a pretty good improvement, much less prone to leaking they apply more even pressure to the gasket. i saw the valve covers and it just reminded me, it's been awhile since i have seen the perimeter bolt style.

But this one word of Advice that you guys remove the fire hazard ,glass fuel filter, and replace with a non glass fuel filter !! Because my friend years ago all most lost his classic Chevrolet Camaro when one of those glass fuel filter blow !! 🔥🔥🔥

When I saw this I couldn't start watching any faster! I own a Goldenrod Yellow 1969 Firebird 400 (w/455). You might want to verify that you have a 400 engine. I don't think this is a true 400 car. There is no '400' emblem on the trunk, there is no arrowhead emblem on the front bumper and there is no "filler" plates in the engine compartment. Either way, love to see it done!

Hade a 76 transam with the 160 speedo 455 engine would burry that speedo at will on the new York state freeway in up state NY the good old days
