Tight list some of the heavy hitters! My Top 5 would be pretty different - 1. Marha Wash, 2.Teddy Pendergrass, 3. Chaka Kahn, 4. India (of Masters at Work), 5. Joyce Sims.. Dajae would be another close one at 6. Cheers man!
Totally understand. Love Sam Cooke but I do feel like James Brown is only thought of as more of a funk musician when his singing on Try Me, Bewildered, and Please Please Please are amazing soul songs.
@@AsTheTableTurns for sure I think James is both the godfather of soul, and funk, but he and Cooke would be battling it out for the #1 position on my list of greatest soul vocalists.
Enjoyed your video. I'm a fan of Al Green love his voice on the song, "love and happiness". It's tough because these are all great singers..
It is tough. I wanted to add more but I was already at 7 in a top 5. Haha!

Teddy was a possibility for me but not enough to knock anyone else off.
Al Green!
Isaac Hayes
For sure. It was a Top 5 that I stretched to a top 7 already.
Sam Cooke needs to bump someone off this list, and certainly not James
