    I'm using hypochlorous acid on an incision that's opened up after surgery. It's not Force of Nature, of course, but it is the same chemical. You have really relieved my mind that I really may be doing some good with this and might be treating my wound properly. Thank you.

      I was reading some reviews on Amazon and a person noted that if you read up on hypochlorous acid, it degrades in light so using the clear bottle they provide makes sense you'd only get 2 weeks. Apparently hypochlorous acid sold in an opaque or dark bottle lasts much longer, up to a year. I didn't look it up because I always use amber glass spray bottles for all my diy cleaning solutions anyway so I'd just use one of those even if I got this kit. I haven't decided to buy it but fyi, it's cheaper on the official site. Amazon is more expensive.

      When the Pandemic started, I was using Clorox Anywhere spray (not the same as Clorox All Purpose Cleaner-which has bleach). Almost everything was out; It was hard to find any useful/reputable cleaners. I am sensitive to cleaning smells and the Anywhere Spray was non-bleach, and pet, people, skin, food surfaces friendly. I ALMOST bought an $79 case of 6 bottles on Amazon. That's how much I loved it. I refused to use my mother's choice of Pine Sol (ew, gag!) Bleach was out of the question, although I did consider a diluted bleach solution.
      I found Force of Nature by accident on Amazon; I was looking for some way to make a safe cleaning solution. I found the huge vat-type system she mentions in her testing. I wanted something smaller that I could use with my pets, my kitchen, my family, my home. I did extensive research and looked at the safety studies. Researched the ingredients. Researched the EPA findings. Researched medical testing. Force of Nature is rated safe for HOSPITAL USE. I took the plunge, bought a starter kit. And will never go back to harsh harmful cleaners. (ok, bleach for toilet)
      It seems to work better with soft water, or I use distilled water. Each batch takes about 9 minutes. I do recommended chemical resistant spray nozzle. The Solution tends to wear out the cheap aluminum springs in bargain sprayers. I LOVE IT!!!

    I have a HOCL machine that makes 1,000 mL at a time, and I can choose what concentration I want. Lately I’ve been going with the highest of 1,000 ppm and then diluting it with/equal parts distilled water. I add salt & vinegar from my own supply, and use completely dark containers to extend its life. What I understand is that if the pH is at 5-6 then it is Hypochlorous acid, and if it’s higher then it’s bleach. Vinegar is used in the beginning to control the pH, but it’s not necessary.

      Hypochlorous acid is not stable and breaks down over time, especially when exposed to light, air, or heat. The breakdown rate can vary depending on the specific conditions such as pH, temperature, and presence of contaminants. Amber glass can protect light sensitive solutions better than clear glass or plastic bottles as it prevents more UVA light from passing through. The color in amber glass helps filter damaging rays and will help keep the hypochlorous acid solution fresher for a bit longer.
      It's best to follow manufacturer recommendations and create a brand new batch of hypochlorous acid solution when you're ready to use, but if you want to store some in a bottle for use over a period of time, keep some chlorine and pH testing strips around so you can test your solution prior to use if it's been a few days to make sure its still effective. You'll want to aim for a pH of slightly acidic, between 5.5 - 6.5. At a neutral pH of 7, the solution is about 76% hypochlorous acid and 24% sodium hypochlorite. And chlorine levels should be between 100-200ppm.

  • @paul6325
    @paul6325 Рік тому +2

    Yes, some really positive news! Thank you a lot for testing this, confirms it does work in the real world.
    What is the ppm count for Force of Nature? I buy ready made electrolyzed water at 500ppm, with a recommended application time of at least one minute. Some studies show effectivity (depending on formulation) with many pathogens in even less than that, in certain cases down to seconds. You’ll have to fact check, but if I remember correctly there are only a few pathogens that needed minutes (again, formulation dependent). Would be interesting to test with different dwell times, say 5s, 10s, 30s, 1min and more, to see the difference on a set of household germs. In some cases maybe a serious reduction in pathogen count is enough, if not killing absolutely all of the most resistant ones.
    Another test I would be eager to see is using a wet (near dripping) paper towel with electrolyzed water, instead of spraying. Powerful spray directly on a dirty surface can ‘bounce’/splatter onto surroundings. I’ve asked a manufacturer about this but didn’t get an answer. Perhaps a two sided question, could a clean surface get pathogens from spraying a dirty adjacent surface (do splash drops carry pathogens and dry out too soon to be fully effective), or is it better to use a wet paper towel or cloth for these scenarios? For my one minute dwell time it seems reasonable to go over a surface without too much effort this way, though water tends not to form a uniform film.
    On a separate note, would microfiber with plain water remove bacteria close to this same performance? Some cloths claim over 99% reduction.
    Maybe too many ideas here, but I am set on removing harsh chemicals from my life and putting it all together, some cloths, cleaning soap and electrolyzed water seem to be enough to take care of all home cleaning. Looking forward to more on electrolyzed water!

    • @FieldOfFocus
      @FieldOfFocus  Рік тому +1

      Per force of Nature’s site: Hypochlorous Acid Solution 220 ppm Available Chlorine. I agree that dwell time varies and reading many product bottles the large majority of pathogens are eliminated under a minute, but there are some sticklers that need more time. As you know it depends on the concentration of the product in addition to the pathogen. Wetting a paper towel would be an interesting test, as well as testing various dwell times. I have tested one brand microfiber cloth ua-cam.com/video/80QsK_EXvmM/v-deo.html
      I plan on testing other microfiber cloths, it is on my list!! Thank you for the thoughtful comment, as you can see there are many areas to test! I will be busy for quite a while!!
      I am curious, what is the expiration on your 550ppm electrolyzed water?

      @@FieldOfFocus thank you, couldn’t find it on their site for some reason. Will watch the microfiber vid :)
      Paper towel effectivity would be wonderful to confirm one can ditch harsh chemicals.
      The 500ppm I buy has a shelf life of one year and they are working on an improved bottle to increase to two years. I do tend to go through quite a bit weekly and even with refill bottles waste adds up. Thinking of finding a home device instead, I hear new regulations on HOCl will be enforced around summer time in EU. Hoping for a great product afterwards. New subbie I love the content. Can you check the use on the toilet again but with force of nature being used after soap based cleanser like sals suds or castille soap ? HA is used in medical settings to disinfect when they can’t use chemical cleaners or disinfectants Maybe you could test other premade brands of HA that have higher ppm? It’s a disinfectant not a cleanser cleaner really so it warily have to be used after a cleanser. Thanks

For this test and all my tests I don't "pre-clean" so we can see how well the product alone works. Occasionally I will pre-clean with just water prior to a test if there is sticky stuff on the kitchen counter etc. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    Wow! Great results! I have a device like yours but it isn't by Force of Nature. Mine, I just add water and plain salt, turn it on for 10 minutes, then unplug. I like saving money using the device but end up buying cleaning products because you can tell if it's really working. I do however smell a light chlorine bleach smell but after a few days the smell is gone. Thanks for doing this test!

    I always wonder when they say "leave wet for 10 minutes" because naturally some starts to evaporate and dry over that time...if it does that before 10 minutes is up, are we supposed to rewet it again?!

    • @FieldOfFocus
      @FieldOfFocus  3 місяці тому

      Force of Nature does not have any drying agents in it, so it is unlikely to dry within the 10 minutes. It could absorb, depending on the surface you are spraying. However yes, if you are using a product and it says 5 min or 10 min or 20 second wet/sit time, then you can reapply if it dries before the allotted time. Thanks for watching.

    Well, dang. Now I can't call this BS lol. How does it work in terms of cleaning without soaking for 10 minutes? I traditionally never soak surfaces more than 30 seconds unless I forget to wipe the area. I like to spray, and wipe, then move on. Also, I read it works well for windows to replace Windex, as in it's streak free? Also for kitchens, such as alternative for stove (grease) cleaning? Also wondering if the minute amount of vinegar somehow makes it work as a lime-away replacement for hardwater buildup/scale. I know these are all big asks.

    • @FieldOfFocus
      @FieldOfFocus  Рік тому

      So for each product I test, I use the manufacturers guidelines, for Force of Nature it is a 10 minute wait time. For most products to remove bacteria there is a 1-5 minute wait time, each one will have their specifications on the label. I am curious how well FON would do at a shorter wait time to, so I have added it to my viewer suggestion list. I haven't tried out FON on windows yet or my stove.. but I will! Thanks for watching and commenting!!!

      @@FieldOfFocus It does make sense. Similar to how we wash our hands wrong and don't have contact with hand soap long enough to kill the bacteria. I'm definitely going to purchase something like FoN, just haven't decided the most value oriented one. The vinegar and dish soap video makes me lean towards that but I don't care for that strong of vinegar smell all the time so this seems the best alternative to being still holistic in a sense compared to chemicals.

    Could you test the diy force of nature recipie? I found a force of nature diy video on youtube. Here is their recipie.
    Force of Nature (FoN) makes hypochlorous acid (HOCl).
    This tutorial shows you how easy it is to make your own copy-cat recipe. It has been verified by other smart individuals. The end result is a pH and chlorine ppm like that of the original capsules (pH= 4.5-5.5 and 220+ppm of free available chlorine).
    Recipe:
    0.71g salt (Do not use salt with anti-caking agent. Do not use Himalayan or sea salt. Purest form of salt is best. I recommend pickling salt since it dissolves easily and doesn't contain any other ingredients).
    2.7g vinegar. (Do not use apple cider vinegar or lemon. Use vinegar with 5% acidity).

      @FieldOfFocus  Місяць тому

      I have a septic system.. So I know what you mean! I am new to septic systems so I don't know everything. BUT I do know we do not want to get rid of the bacteria in the tank because that breaks down the waste. SO for me I don't use a lot of bleach in my home. Think of things going down the drains and limit lots of bleach etc I don't think a lot of spraying and wiping the sinks etc is going to cause enough product to go down the drain and cause an issue. For the toilets I use cleaners instead of sanitizers (so the ones that don't do a good job on my channel removing bacteria on a more regular basis). However I do love my clorox wands!

      Hypochlorous acid which is what this product is does not create super bugs/resistant strains. It is even safe to use on skin and doesn't disrupt the skins microbiome like pretty much every other disinfecting or sanitizing agent does. It truly an amazing chemical. Worth diving into the use cases and research on it.
