- Dr. Phillips visits Moundville Archaeological Park, famous village site of the mound-building Indian culture of the prehistoric Mississippian Period that lasted from about A.D. 1000-1550. The program examines the symbols, beliefs, and lifeways of this once dominant culture and traces two centuries of study in an attempt to understand these early Americans and the significance of their earthen mounds. No matter the dating of the site or the origin of the inhabitants, it is a beautiful magical place. When you drive into the park the silence is as unique as the mounds.
This is great. I really want to go there.

My Tribe's word for the Earth means sphere. The overall concept of the sky world feathered serpent vs underworld vs water panther held all over pre colonial western hemisphere doesn't work if the "world is flat"
What's the word and tribe if you don't mind me asking?

Mounds make perfect sense , why not build mounds to live on , to grow on , to hunt on, etc
Considering the population there perhaps a Malthusian Cycle ended this civilization.

Too bad the ancient Greeks missed the biggest Element! Are we?
Sorry, but you can not prove anything you have talked about. I am an old historian and I can prove it was not Indians. A question for you: where did the Indians come from? Bruce Howard

Who built them??...I'd like to examine your theory.....honestly
There’s dna evidence from the burials that say it’s native Americans.
Random Guy on Internet: “I have proof.”
Offers none.
Watch out for yourself. You know not what you speak of. It's a Fact that is was the Native people that lived there and burial grounds.
