      Hi Ella, would you recommend moving to Mac from Windows since I've always seen Windows laptops slowing down over time? Also to not land into same issue, have you seen your Macbook slow down ever?

      For the majority of transition problems remember that the command key is generally the mac version of the windows control key - e.g - command + c copies in mac, control + c copies in windows. Apart from that the only real differences day to day are finder vs explorer and how to open apps. The apps themselves are almost identical to windows ones, assuming you're using the common productivity tools.

    Although the notch might be annoying for some users, I would prefer to have it shown. It's what makes the new models of MacBook distinct from the rest. And that notch is the reason why there are thinner bezels. It disappears anyways when you're on full screen.

      I agree! I like the notch and want to always see it, because I always want to see my menu bar. I use it often and it’s annoying having it disappeare

    Quick tip: you can type in caffeinate inside the terminal to stop the mac from sleeping. Just press down control + c to exit caffeinate.

    Instead of CalcBar, I use spotlight search to calculate.
    For the full month calendar, apple has a default widget for that. I just swipe on trackbar with 2 fingers and it will appear

    For the widgets portion, did you download these apps? I honestly thought that Widgets are just on the notification in Mac.

    Didn't know about any of these options, probably the best Mac video I've seen. I did toggle my finder to group similar items though, this way it'll group all pdf, images, documents together in divergent rows so that I'm not sifting through random docs for a pdf I might need.

    All great tips, but you can use the spotlight search for a fairly advanced calculator. Simply press comman + space and start typing in the sums you want to do.

    Thank you so much for Hot Corners! Coming from windows I absolutely have no clue why it is such a pain on macOS to switch to desktop natively. There are so many use cases for it.

      You can always use 5 fingers on the trackpad and the gesture (widening them).

    Awesome ideas and thank you for all the cool open-source software ideas! My only gripe with the "more space" part is that I've come to that milestone in life that includes "macular degeneration", which is what happens when one begins to edge upwards in their quinquagenerianism...

    I just switched over from Windows and this is by far the most helpful and practical video I’ve seen on how to improve the everyday usability of the MBA.     In general setting set Scroll bars to always show makes it easier to scroll I know you can guest trackpad gesters but if you have a mouse it's handy

    Ella, great video, I just got a MBA M1 and using some of your tips here, but I can't figure out how to add widgets to desktop, they just show on the right side of the screen.

    If you go to settings > Desktop & Dock > Automatically hide and show the menu bar, and select never, the menu bar will not hide even in full screen mode. Pretty useful imo

    Multitasking is just for fun. For productivity, full screen app and cmd+tab for switching Apps (remove animations for faster switches)

    I used to use rectangle, for me key binds weren't something I like to snap the windows, so I installed magnet, I know rectangle has the ability to drag the windows, but magnet made it feel like it did when I was on windows and was faster for me.

    I find it easier to use Magnet on mac instead of Rectangle- it’s got that Windows snapping functionality for apps, not sure whether Rectangle has that but Magnet has honestly been my go-to for years.

    Damn this is almost the same setup as me. I try to minimize how many additional apps I download so I keep it pretty minimal, but Rectangle is a must have. Def love that you recommended open source apps too.
