I ordered a 16 GB 256 from Apple with the student program, but I’m glad to see retail has been able to drop the price for everyone. CHEAPER MACBOOK 15’S FOR EVERYONE 🥳
I've been using Windows OS since my parents bought me my first PC in 1998. It's 2023 and it's my first Mac. Your channel is great and you are amazing! Keep doing such an amazing job. Now I understand what Stage Manager is and many more things from this video
Thank you. This was very insightful. I just got my first Mac couple of days back. Been a Windows guy all may life so there's kinda a bit of a learning curve to it but I am loving it so far. Truly enjoyed your video and learned a lot. You earned yourself a new subscriber, by the way.🙃
I prefer to see the various screen resolutions as a list. Go to System Settings>Displays>Advanced then the first option is "Show resolutions as a list." Toggle this on then click Done. Now instead of the previous icon view, you have a limited list view. At the bottom of that list is a toggle to "Show all resolutions." Toggle that setting to "on."
A problem some folk have with Hot Corners is accidental activation when selecting the Apple Menu or Notifications (top left and right respectively). Fortunately, macOS has you covered. To prevent such spurious Hot Corner activity I have set it so I need to use the Control key as well as moving the cursor into those corners.
I`m a windows user, I have switched to Iphone lately, now I`m wondering about Macbook Air (waiting for 2024 edition) and Im BLOWN AWAY by flexibility and how beautiful this system is, and the third party apps are just wonderfull. This is so good.
Windows/Linux user here (happy owner of an iMac M1 for almost a year and waiting for MBA15 to arrive tomorrow). In Windows i hardly ever click on the trackpad, I always used two fingers tab to right click. I also used double tab and hold to drag windows/icons/folders (in MacOS i do it with 3 fingers hold). Pretty much all MacOS gestures work on Windows.
I bought a laptop at bestbuy store and when I brought it home the calendar didn’t look the same as the one on display at store it look dull. Can you advise me? Apple - MacBook Air 15" Laptop - M2 chip - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD (Latest Model) - Midnight
Some of us are left-handed, hence the lower left for "right-click." I use a Magic Trackpad with my Late 2015 iMac 27" with my left hand. I use the default two-finger right click since it's independent of handedness. For my 2017 13" MBP, I usually use my left hand on the trackpad, but sometimes I use my right. Again, I use the default. I don't even know if these corner options are available for my machines/Mac OS versions as I've never needed to look for them. This is also similar to swapping the functions of the buttons on a mouse if you're left-handed. So you'll either need an ambidextrous mouse or a specific left-handed mouse which is uncommon.
I decided to jump the gun and buy the MacBook Air 15 inch but with 24GB RAM and leave the 256GB SSD since I have an 5TB external hard drive and seems people worry too much on storage due to only 1 chip which I get but after seeing so many videos and UA-camrs doing “benchmarks” cause I don’t think I’ll see any difference in the SSD and I’m sure it can run very well with a lot of applications and especially having a gaming monitor so I don’t need a Pro MacBook, yes people will say I should have gone with the Pro but people underestimate how good the M2 Air is and it’s portability, I’d say if you love the M2 Air, go for It, just make sure to get more RAM whether it’s 16 or 24GB rather than storage and can’t wait for my experience on the M2 Air 15 inch !!
Low power mode on charging is to prevent for the cpu to draw more power hence increasing it's temperature while the battery is already increasing the overall chasis temperature while charging. Literally something that may be usefull
Been a windows user since 2009. But you just sold me 15” mac air coming from 15.6” windows laptop for ages. Apple should hire you in their marketing team 🎉
wow! thank you so much for taking the time. I'm new to Mac laptop, any Mac products. This really helped me to customize and learn so much more about what's available to me on my new, and only MacBook Air laptop.
One Thing you did’t talk about: Setup your “Spaces” with different wallpapers for each one Tip: Select “System Settings” in the dock click and hold (or right button) select Options->Assign to All Spaces
Thank you so much for this video, I am buying the new mac air 15inch (previously a life long windows user) this video is so helpful in setting up a Mac and I did enjoy all your tips and tricks. I just got the 15" MacBook Air m2...it was finally time for an upgrade I had a 8 year old MacBook Pro....lol, was super excited that apple went their own chips....I was super disappointed they had went with intel all those years ago....lol
Hello I need help choosing a MacBook laptop. I work in graphic design and I’m looking for the ultimate beast for my job. Since MacBook prices are much higher here in Serbia compared to America, it’s harder for me to choose the right laptop that I’ll use for many years. Prices range from $1700 to $2500 converted to dollars. I’m considering both the MacBook Air and Pro versions. Due to the nature of my work, a more compact laptop with a smaller 13-14 inch display would be preferable for me. I would appreciate your assistance in selecting a laptop. Warm regards from Serbia.
Just picked up my mba 15” so the timing of this video is great!! Will you be doing more setup videos? I got a lot of good info from this one. Thanks so much!
This has been so helpful, Greg. You are so enthusiastic and so clear. I have just ordered a 13” M2 Air so I hope I can at least implement some of these suggested set ups even in that smaller machine. Cheers from New Zealand.
Any suggestions on my first ever MacBook I’ll be buying in a few weeks? Really using for running my new trucking business and also thinking of starting a UA-cam dedicated to trucking. Plus other things
Hi GG, I decided to comment here after watching your other video on the 15" MacBook Air and this one. I have the base model M2 MacBook Air 15” in silver. My use case is basic; web surfing, email checking, social media posting, and a photo/video edit once in a while. I’m a first time Apple laptop user and have never owned a laptop. I knew exactly what I was getting when I chose the base model, if I need extra storage I have several external SSDs I can use. As for the 8 gigs of unified RAM, my use case should not require more than that. If there’s one downside to my purchase it’s the future proof aspect, however, since I have no plans to change workflows from my 2021 M1 24” iMac with 16 GB of unified RAM and a 1 TB SSD to my M2 15” MacBook Air, I’m perfectly fine with my decision and use case for my M2 15” MacBook Air. In your last video (I think it was the one before this one) at the very end you mentioned that you wouldn't recommend the base model, I politely disagree. A decision to purchase one machine over another must be based on a users individual computing needs. Peace.
I just got the MacBook Air 15" for school and stumbled on your video. Thank you so much for all the tricks. Coming from a window computer I think stage manager is a life saver for me. It just organize the windows and make it more easy to access them. Great video. subscribed!
Hi Greg! Great tips, loved your video! I recently purchased this laptop for college and love it and need a good case to protect it. Any recommendations?
Windows Switcher here and a new sub 🎉 How can I use the arrows to move a page up and down? It currently is moving tab up and down I would like it to move the bar that moves the page up and down. Does that make sense?
Perhaps it's wise to advise new Mac users that apps/folders in the Dock are aliases aka shortcuts. Deleting them from the Dock does not remove the apps or folders.
awesome content Greg! really helpful info I'm excited for all the stuff I get to do more productively. I have a quick question about the battery life. I just upgraded from my 2016 MacBook to an M2 MacBook Air so it was strange for me when my laptop recommended me to have the computer attached to the AC so as to not use the battery. Would you recommend I have my MacBook always on the AC when I am at home to preserve the battery for longer? I am =not very tech savvy so not even sure if I have the right idea lol thank you!

Hi bro I am about to purchase this same macbook but under student discount with config :16 GB ram and 1 Tb storage also I am a lawyer so do you think for a lawyer this one is okay?
Really liked this video. Very informative, especially the hot corners. I am brand new to Macs and only have experience using Windows. I will not revert to the lengthy method of locking my Mac 😂
You would think the battery percentage would be under battery settings, ALSO! you would think they would put the battery percentage INSIDE the battery icon, but NO they put it next to it!

Hey, it’s not resolution you are changing, it’s called changing scaling.
The was a switch bike ad that ran before this. It says “this is a switch bike” three times. Then your video starts with “this is a” I thought it was funny enough to comment about.

If the resolution on most of the laptops these days dont show a full screen y tube video, can that setting be changed?

all the years of using Mac I didn't know that, thanks. I had to google how to do it but it works perfectly
