    I’m almost positive I screwed your name up, Lee - not sure why I called you Will. But I’ll blame it on noodle brain. 😂

      Hey Mickey! No worries my dude! The miles we ran together flew by. Loved the convo and hey, way to push through those last 30. I was starting to see vehicles parked in the woods and as I got closer each time they turned out to be just big ol logs. Crazy what happens to your mind when it’s sleep deprived. I hope you are recovering well or are already!

      @@trainwithlee Just reading this but so awesome to hear from you man and congrats on an AWESOME finish. Massive props. If you have an IG, stay in touch, would be honored to help pace/crew you at a future race if ever needed. Body is feeling good, signed up for another 50 in November and then 50k in December. Hoping to get in 2 100s next year!

    Congratulations, sir, on completing this race!! I just stumbled upon your update video of 9 days ago, and I just want to send you a hug of blessings. I feel like I know you, even though I've never met you or know your real name; You don't know how much you've inspired me over the past few years with your videos, even though I could never physically do the things that you do. I'm so glad to hear that you're pressing on and continuing to provide the kindness and love that come naturally to you through your videos to people you don't even know. Just before I saw your update video, I had watched a video of you crossing the traverse between Little Bear and Blanca from several years ago. Having now seen your update, it really gives a whole new perspective. I really hope to meet you in person some day. I'm older, and I'm not a mountaineer by any stretch, but you have truly inspired me not to give up in life through your perseverance. Many hugs to you, and prayers of Godly healing to come your way in this ongoing process, my friend. You are definitely loved by many people, and I respect you in so many ways!

    Dude! My best miles were when we connected! We fu@&ing finished this race!!! I really really loved the miles we got to hang out and talk, it was like 10-13 of them. Thank you for the joy you brought to my race! You’re a rockstar and us Mickey/Miki’s need to stick together! Thanks for the shout out and now we just need to get into Hardrock and make it a 3 year streak of racing together! ❤❤

    Great job, man!! Toughing it out is so hard especially when not feeling well. People will never truly understand the difficulties getting to the finish, even though you filmed a lot of the journey. Hope you are resting and recovering well!!

    Awesome finish! I saw you out there coming out of Fish Creek and then caught up to you again on that nasty Grouse Trail climb, strong finish! I'm pumped you didn't drop. My race was up and down as well, the last 11 miles was so tough.

      Congrats on your finish as well, I really, really wanted to drop - but I knew it wasn't an option and was just the easy way out. Happy I grinded out a finish as ugly as it was.

    Awesome race vlog! Thank you for taking the time out of your race to share it with us! I want to run 100k next year, but my crew said 50k is their max. I don't think I could do it alone!

      Although I am very spoiled in this area, I think you could 100% do a 100K on your own. It would be harder, but if you utilize drop bags and have well stocked aid stations, you def can do it.

    Great video! I was right behind you the whole way! Well, quite a ways back behind you. I didn’t have a great 70 like you did but I did end up having some breathing issues too. I was wheezing pretty bad for the last 20ish miles. You crushed it though, way to pull though. It looks like you were a sub 30 for sure. Next time!

    Great job dude. Breathing sounded better after Mt. Warner. If it makes you feel better, dude, my race bombed early, EARLY, and then just projectile vommited often. Had to bail early. Great job finishing.

    Great work out there man! Love the recap. I was about 2 hours behind you, and boy are you right when you say that climb back up to Billy's Rabbit Hole was BRUTAL. I can't imagine doing that in the dark!! Way to grind out the finish. Super impressed with your grit. Congrats!

      @@TheVirtualsherpa Same. I never had asthma or an asthma attack in my life…. Until I turned 34. Yeah that’s right. I “caught” asthma at 34. Inhalers are magic potions for that though… no issues running/hiking/climbing/etc. since.

    Congrats! Looks like you finished about 30 min ahead of me. I distinctly remember you heading up Fish creek while I was descending, you noticed me coming down and made a huge effort to hop on some rocks out of my way, a very classy move. Sorry your plan broke down, but grinding it out is often more impressive than finishing after everything went perfectly.

    Congrats on the finish!! I’ve recently started thinking about running longer distances. Currently peak bagging but I also enjoy running. Could you maybe give an insight as to your own journey from 14ers to now running 50-100mi? I’d love to get into it but it seems daunting.. thanks for the videos!!

    • @TheVirtualsherpa
      @TheVirtualsherpa  Рік тому

      For sure - I’ve been doing “longer distances” for a while. First marathon was back in 2012 and then kept running those for a bit, shifted towards tris and did my first Ironman in 2019 (video on the channel if interested). When Covid hit all events stopped obviously and I just took it as a time to evaluate what I wanted to do. Jumped into trail running by getting into Leadville and sort of never looked back. From a build POV, I would say know how a marathon feels before doing anything over that. But it’s certainly possible to jump from marathon to hundred.
