Even though I think there’s a good case to be made that many of those early Battlemechs are quite ugly, I think they’ve got a certain charm. The designs are unique, not being borrowed from Macross or some other anime (and thus avoiding becoming unseen). But then again, I like the updated artwork as it looks chunkier and beefy enough to actually take a hit.
I'm a fan of the Archer mech. The origanal design was unique and the updated "endo" version I think looks really nice (my favorate being the ARC-8M version) it's not something you really see in other mech based fiction. So I get what you mean.

It occurs to me the fitting meta of battletech is diametrically opposed to that of eve online. Battletech: a weapon for all ranges Eve: maneuver to an optimal range and unleash hell

It's biggest drawback is it's lack of armour in stock form,only 4.5 tons.
Not saying it's a forgettable mech, but I forgot about it.
Pretty decent mech. A bit fragile though.
Gotta keep the Clint moving to survive....
