    I’m realizing just how lucky we got with our rescue dog. We knew nothing about her other than what her foster mom said. She came housebroken and crate trained at 9weeks old. Never chewed on anything, was beyond easy to train, even our trainer was impressed with her. Thinking we just got very lucky and next time we won’t be, so next time we will go back to our breeder for another schnauzer(my breed)😍

      Whether Rescue or Breeder pup, if you get a socialized, partially trained, crate trained dog, you hit the jackpot! I suggest to my friends to go to a breeder if they can afford it, even though I have always had rescues. ... Because if you can find a confident, socialized, trained, and housebroken 12 week old puppy, then it already has a head start on life as a great companion... But, finding that combination takes work. ;-)

      You don't have to agree, but you trekking him what he is doing wrong lol, is like me a 300lb man telling your wife what she needs to do to be in even better shape lol? World either of you think i was in the right to tell her what to do? I bet you wouldn't. It's one thing to say you disagree with it. But to say that someone at his level is wrong. When you yourself are not even a part of the profession is just a lot of entitlement. Good luck, 99.9% I completely agree with

    I think bed-sharing with dogs comes down to your own preferences and how the dog shares the space with humans. I have a pretty strong-minded confident non-guarding breed dog, who is independent when working but very pack-oriented when indoors. When she moved into our household as a puppy, I was dead set to not let her sleep in the bed. But she was so restless in the crate that I ended up caving in and taking her to bed with me at one point. She calmed down immediately and slept the whole night curled up against my side. She has been doing this ever since. The only conflict we had was with her taking too much space if she went to sleep before me and not being too eager to make room. If she had shown any aggression in these moments I probably would have reacted differently but she allowed me to just lift her to a more suitable place on the bed and later on learned to move aside when I asked her to do so. I kind of agree that she sees me as part of her pack and an equal buddy. But is it necessarily a bad thing if we both respect each other's boundaries and terms and she trusts my guidance when necessary?

    I’m not sure I agree with the hard no for dogs sleeping in your bed.
    I think it may be partially breed dependent, but I think if problems arise, it’s likely a leadership issue, not the sleeping in bed part. Not that they don’t overlap a bit.
    For me, I think allowing my Jack Russel to sleep with me as a pup, really strengthened our bond and helped him feel secure. Later on, I started to transition him to his own bed. First by having it in my room, then moving it out after a while.
    For leadership and general behavior, I won’t say I haven’t experienced challenges over the years. I don’t think the bed thing was a huge player in that though, cuz as I learned to be a proper leader and how to correct my dog, as well as I began to understand the breed more, things just began improving.
    He’s now a bit more than four years old, and we have an awesome relationship. I’m able to have him off leash, I’m able to communicate with him and understand the signs he gives me. He is happy, healthy and a really secure and balanced dog, which really shows with other dogs and people.
    I attribute a lot of my success to you and your videos. I’ve learned so much.

      I have 2 Rottweilers who have both slept in my bed with no problems. i think it's more a thing of people who do let them sleep in the bed also let them get away in other areas they shouldn't.
      Im not saying everyone should or has to, but letting a dog sleep in ur bed alone isnt a issue even with dominant guarding breeds as long as you know what ur doing with ur dog rather you have them sleep with you or not you will be fine if you dont know what ur doing then i can see how sleeping with ur dog is a bad idea but your going to have issues either way so im not so sure sleeping with you makes a difference there other then just 1 more thing to have a issue with since this hypothetical person dont know what they are doing.

      One of my dogs doesn't like to sleep on the bed the other does. Both are GSD mixes but one likes to sleep by my bedroom door until I go to sleep then she moves to the couch or floor by the front door. She is more of a guard dog than my other.

    I am not a dog trainer. have only had dogs who were allowed to sleep on the bed at times and at times they slept in their beds or on a dog couch. I have only ever had rescue dogs of mysterious breed mix but there has never been any problem. If ever people didn't want a dog on their bed we had a command beat it. The command meant leave our spaces for now. The dogs always understood. Maybe rescue dogs are just better than cane corsos.

    Crate train the dog properly and you’ll be fine with a $100 crate. No need to spend thousands on a heavy duty crate if your dog is crate trained. Crate trained means the dog will not attempt to break out. Other than that, good vid.

    • @jasoncorey
      @jasoncorey  7 місяців тому +1

      Not necessarily.....if the dog has separation anxiety.....which in some cases it's a result of what the owner does .....but other times it is a mental disorder......then the dog will a lot of times try to break out .....injure themselves etc.

      Hey 👋🏽
      I see you haven’t got an answer yet so I’ll tell you what I’ve done with my two current dogs.
      The most common times a puppy needs to toilet are: when they wake up, when they’ve eaten, when you finish playing with them, before you put them back in the crate.
      When I got my big dog at 8 weeks old I was taking him out to the toilet about every hour during the day and whenever he woke up during the night.
      Doing this gives them plenty of opportunities to toilet in the area you want them to. That’s another important thing, make sure you only let toilet in the area you want them to, even if you have to carry them there to prevent them from toileting in the wrong area.
      I put puppies on a leash when toilet training so they can’t wander off and toilet in the wrong spot.
      I hope this is helpful and I think it’s great that you’re researching training before getting a puppy 😊

      For a 7 to 8 week old pup a few times a night will suffice. With JJ Kara was getting up 2x to let him pee for the first few weeks.

    I need help. We have a 6 month intact male. We have been working with him and he is so smart. We have had him since 8 weeks old. We have other dogs, he does great with them, and other cats. Our little wire haired is his best friend. He takes to training really well, but he has been getting overly protective of my mom, and has no recall, and is afraid of the tub. He will not roll onto his back, we have been trying since we got him. He is way more stubborn than our last boy who died. I'm at a loss of what to do. Sorry for long comment

    • @jim_no_rulers
      @jim_no_rulers 7 місяців тому

      I'll share what my experience might lead me to try in this situation..
      For the over-protection, have your mom put herself in front of the dog. Dog maybe on a "sit stay," your mom facing away from the dog but towards the wrongly imagined threat, to show your mom can handle the situation and that any over-protectiveness is is unnecessary.
      For recall, a long leash to make sure they come when called, and treats seems like it was quickest, but praise or play could replace the treats.
      Fear of tubs, or most things, need to be addressed in small steps, kept positive yet incrementally challenging, with as confident and relaxed of a mindset as possible from you while working with these things, knowing that you are just doing something that needs to be done that is best for both you, the dog, and everyone else.
      Rolling over is a trait that helped us pick our puppy out of the litter. Our corso is our first guardian breed and we have small children so we were aiming for a less dominant puppy. If she didn't already do this automatically, I would try sitting on the floor beside her while she's laying down on her side. I'd sit by her back, but far enough away that if she rolls hopefully she won't kick me, then pet her back and pay attention to her subtle movements. If petting one way encourages a twist or partial roll to the back, try that movement again, adjust.. Maybe lure with a treat from that same position where its easier for the dog to roll over than to get up and turn around.?
      Hope you find some solutions!

      @jessi2113 7 місяців тому

      @jim_no_rulers he won't, he totally knows when your trying to get him on his back. Dog sits, speaks, shakes, kisses, and even spins on commend but won't do those few things 😵

      @jennyharrison7177 Greek yogurt will fix any allergies your dog has. When my pup was born he went outside for first time, he came in with a yeast infection on his belly. He was scratching holes in himself. We started giving 2 spoon full of yogurt and it was gone in a week. Oh put some apple cider vinegar and it will cure/prevent bladder infections

Thats why he feels like what he does is right. I mean i dont blame him and to be honest i dont know im not a dog trainer lol. But as a little boston terrier owner. I guess i train him like you and zack meeting in the middle because when i first got him i trained him like you would Jason, nowadays i train him like zack.
