Rip. One of the coolest cars on the grid. Hopefully they come back in ‘26
Agreed
Newer fan to IMSA, and mainly know Formula 1... Don't even know who to support. The loss of a manufacturer, no matter the series, is always a shock
Just love em all
@@adrianprado7981 indeed, i'm here to watch cars vroom, no matter the car no matter the class
Lmao😂 plz leave f1 alone
I’m a big fan of the AO racing for rexy in the gt and Cadillac for the gtp. But if you new into the sport formula Jonah is the account to follow
@ 🙌🏻
I think it’s a good time for them to develop their rumored LMDH, plus if they do want to come back to IMSA, they should get United to run in GTD Pro and also United would be a good choice to choose them to run their rumored LMDH given how good they are in LMP2
United could be seen as a factory effort seeing Zak brown is involved with both
United already run Mclarens in the WEC
@@TheWolfandreptile they’re racing in IMSA as well, in LMP2 and have a great relationship with McLaren
According to Graham Goodwin the McLaren project is underway. Obviously with the 30th annniversary of their Le Mans win in 1995 mid year, we won't hear a peep in official channels until then. They are likely joining the grid in 2027. With Genesis joining the grid in 2026, and Aston this year, WEC will have a major manufacturer or more joining every year since 2023, even still down the track in 2027 - and potentially even futher years to follow, with more rumours swirling about further manufacturers after the known ones.
That's quite an achievement.
If we can keep the rest of them, or even most of the rest of them on the grid, I think that's a job well done by FIA/ACO leadership. Soon the next hurdle will be how to succeed the Hypercar regulations... but a tale for another day, alas.
One of the most beautiful GT3 cars ever, but McLaren fail to make it succeed, shame.
You are the best when it comes to explaining the series! And, what is going on within the series. You always answer my questions with the in-depth explanations! Keep up the good work in 2025! By-the-way, my initials are WEC!!
Last year I went to CTMP and got a pfaff motor sport shirt with the McLaren, sadly next year imma have to get the new one with Lamborghini 😂
Love you content and your presenting style, you tone and speed in talking is perfect ❤️ keep it up man and hopefully in 2025 you'll get to half a million subs
It’s sad not see the 720s GT3 in IMSA this year. I think we will see McLaren in IMSA again.
IMSA just doesn’t mean what it use to as far as the European teams IMO. WEC is so awesome and packed that there’s just not the budget for them to be racing at smaller tracks in the states. I’m sad but we got the Valkyrie to spice up IMSA this upcoming season.
I wouldn't say it's an IMSA issue. There aren't many good European teams using McLarens either. The car is unreliable and hasn't won any major race in ages. There are plenty of decent teams in the US and the GT3 grids in IMSA are as well. The McLaren is not really reliable, costs a lot and is hard to get into the right window, all of that with very little support by McLaren themselves makes it really hard for teams.
Has nothing to do with mclarens budget. They race in F1, FE, Indycar, and support GT3 teams worldwide. The car just sucks. Unreliable, hard to work on
I’m so sad for McClarin! Gonna keep cheering for them. It’s like having a family member dropping out. At least they’ll be spread out in other races around the globe! 🏎️
“Mcclairn”
I suspected this when I didn’t see them on the Rolex 24 grid
the rolex 24 grid literally showed that pfaff were running the lambo. literally said it on the entry list
McLaren won a lot with the 570S GT4 with MIA and Compass racing.
I think thats the end for them to build a GTP. Theres a lot of American influence on mclaren motorsport so i cant imagine them building a hypercar for WEC only and also dont think theyd enter imsa with a gtp without running any car the previous season
The 720S is also aging, if they are planning on making a GT3 version of their 750S then Im down for it
I wonder if Pfaff switched to a Lamborghini so that in 26, they're the first customer to run the 26 Temerario.
Mclaren needs to wake up and improve the car! And go to GTP
Wow I race this car in sim and have been wanting to see it race irl
Dont forget, Mclaren did pick up a win with Inception in 2021!
I think the writing was on the wall when Inception dropped them mid season, and Pfaff had a falling out with the manufacturer as well
This is a surprise.. I could’ve sworn they committed til 2028
Rumor has it I’m developing a LMDH car for 2027. Endurance cup only.
I'll stick with Porsche.
I hope out of this disappointment comes a motivation for McLaren to develop an LMDh car that we'll see in both IMSA and WEC. I do hope the GT cars come back to the IMSA grid though.
Part of me wonders if they're going to be replacing the 720s GT3 with the McLaren Artura. That, or the face-lifted quote unquote, 750s
I know it’s too late for this season but is there a chance zak brown goes for a United Autosport GTD entry in the future. The team definitely has the resources and I’m sure McLaren isn’t the happiest about not being represented.
It's looking like time to replace the 720s, surprised we hear nothing about that. The 570 was replaced by the artura but nothing for the GT3 sibling?
McLaren's reliability has been abysmal from almost day one, both here and in Europe. Inception I think finally got fed up and for a team to make a car switch mid season is pretty damning. I have also seen posts on a social media about poor manufacturer support from the factory. Pfaff's decision to switch from the reliable Porsches was a head scratcher to me from the get go and now they have left also. I seriously doubt there will be anyone else running the GT3s in America unless the related factory team United Auto Sports does so.
Unfortunately the 720s is one of the worst GT3s right now, with most manufacturers having already upgraded their cars if not developed completely new ones. The 720s is a pretty old car just like the Lexus and the Lamborghini (which are both getting new models). The thing about the Lexus is that Vasser Sullivan really are geniuses in running it and the IMSA bop is able to make it fairly competitive, but there's a reason If except for the 2 entries in the Wec thanks to Toyota, nobody else is using it. The 720s is just falling behind compared to the other manufacturers and it's a really difficult car to make it work, it does not surprise me that it lost all support in North America
Vasser Sullivan is likely also waiting for the Lexus LF-R GT3 that's coming in 2026.
PFAFF should have stuck with Porsche.
That really sucks for Pfaff
Hate to see any GT team fold the tent and leave the circus..... sorry to hear this.
Lamentable que unos de los gt más hermosos no esté compitiendo
yipeeeeee
McLarens problem is that the 720s just isn’t as good as the other GT3’s on the grid.
The car looks great and it had some success but all in all, it just wasn't that competitive of a package. For the time, money and effort there are better choices.

Why are they not racing? Why? News is hard.
the teams that used to run them r using diffrent cars also the 720 GT3 is not that strong of a car.
IMSA is losing all its GTD manufacturers to the forced EV development... Half the cars on the grid were too old and had to be retired with no replacement in sight. Hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Not really. Acura and McLaren had barely any cars on the grid, on the other hand Chevy and Ford just joined in and seem quite serious. Merc and Lamborghini are about to develop new cars as well. GT3 is doing more than ok
Hi
Womp womp
In all seriousness though, its bad for manufacturers to be leaving IMSA. Glad Lamborghini still found a way to race their hypercar in it
NGL, when inception announced that they were switching to Ferrari, it kinda hurt. I stopped following them, them being the only McLaren in the field is what drew me to them from day one.
@@jimmyrecendiz4940 Maybe don’t support the GT3 manufacturer with the shittiest program and results…
It because they dont support their teams and dont have any superstar drivers to give to said teams and the car is hard and expensive to work with so aint attractive no more
It’s sad to see McLaren leave with Phaff not really to blame the car just really bad luck and misfortune
Tf are you saying, it was totally on the car lol. They didn’t even make it 4 hours into the first race of 2024 before retiring.
It was the 720s EVO first race and it ran over a piece of debris that caused the suspension damage
@CFBMotorsportProd_44 The next race at Sebring wasn’t much better either. Choosing the Mclaren was a big mistake and they came to their senses after only one season by switching to a proper manufacturer.
Lambo GT3 is ASS 😂 so much that Iron Dames had to switch back to Porsche
You don’t watch GT racing or multi class sports car racing in Sebring they were hit by a Ferrari and it’s McLaren not “Mclaren” fix your spelling
Yeah, because McLaren suxks at customer support, cost more to get parts(if you can get em) and expensive to fix.., their cars are slow and unreliable.
Great road car, terrible GT3 car.
It is a great GT3 too. McLaren just doesn't have the money and factory support for the car anymore
@Frucketweballnot that great than
It’s really not bad it’s just BoPed to the ground
@CFBMotorsportProd_44 in every chamnioship apart British and GTopen it's mid tbh
@fqeagles21 Yea that is why it’s mid at best is because it’s BoPed to the ground because of its pace without the BoP James Baldwin speaks about it he is a reserve driver for Garage 59 in GTWC
IMSA-- You don’t have to beat the competition, just the BOP. Manufactured racing, nose to tail forever unless your pit stop is faster or a driver makes a big mistake.
IMSAs BoP has been incredibly good, it's not BoP's fault McLaren can't build a car for the life of them. Terrible manufacturer support, terrible reliability, hard to make setups for, and at the end of all that you have a super touchy car to drive when there are better and easier cars across the field.
