I was fortunate enough to have met John Coltrane three times. Twice at the Plugged Nickle on Rush Street in Chicago and once backstage at a Chicago Grant Park Jazz festival.
@@jamescurran9002 I played alto and soprano sax in a jazz band while I was in high school. At the time, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Paul Desmond, and Charlie Parker were my major influencers. The father of the trumpet player in our band got permission to take us into the Plugged Nickle one night while Coltrane’s quartet was performing. The father had to promise that since we were underage, we would not drink alcoholic beverages. The second time was on a Sunday afternoon when no alcoholic beverages were served. We had great seats at a table close to the stage. The third time was an outdoor George Wein Jazz concert in Grant Park in Downtown Chicago. The drummer in our jazz band and I were standing outside the venue (we did not have tickets) when a taxi pulled up and Elvin Jones (Coltrane’s drummer) got out. We immediately recognized him and offered to carry his luggage. He agreed and had us carry his stuff to the back of the stage where we met Coltrane, Archie Shepp, McCoy Tyner, and George Wein. They allowed us to watch the performance from backstage. A few years ago, I was able to tell Ravi Coltrane about meeting his father.

In the video, his son didn’t confirm anything! Clickbait pure and simple. You’re welcome.
The real MVP.
Thanks for the warning. Bye.
Thank's for the warning, f them, bye
Right, also what rumors, Mr. Coltrane's life is well documented in books and film.
Ravi Coltrane is also a musical force to be reckoned with. 🎷😀
❤Excellently presented ● Very informative 👌 👍 👏 ❤
WHEN TRANE DIED IT WAS LIKE A FAMILY MEMBER DIED. I SAW JOHN COLTRANE IN 1965 AND IT WAS GREAT. ALL THE WHITES BOODED.
Tell us more about that night, please. 🙏🏼
@luiszuluaga6575 yes, I'd like to know more about that night too 😅😅😅
Clickbait and false. A shame to use Trane’s name this way. Just shameful.
24:11 the great Walter Blanding... all of a sudden?
Namelabels in pics is a joke!
why do i here denzel washington?
Denzel narrated Contrane's words in a 2016 Netflix documentary, Chasing Trane.
Exactly
What rumors?
Rumor?
Yes! The title is. Remember that a "rumor" is actually a lie, a darn lie.
Ouch! Ugh! Poops!
@@wyndhl8309. My question, too.
Great story and I'd have continued watching if not for the badly superimposed effects and pubic hairs on screen along with AI narration.
Christ! 😂
I watched till the end, but you're right, those crummy visual effects and that click-bait title,,yuk. Love John Coltrane the most(high)............
