More context: it wasn’t out of anger; if George didn’t kill Lennie, then Curly would have, but it would’ve been more painful (Curly would’ve tortured and lynched Lennie). In short, it was a mercy kill
No George shot Lennie cause curly the others were coming to him and he knew curly was going to torture Lennie and George wanted Lennie to have a peaceful death he just did it was a hard decision
I loved this book so much and the movie made me cry lennie didn’t deserve it he didn’t know what he was doing it makes me cry every time I watch this part
We are reading this book in my english class right now and this kid spoiled the ending *this scene* and my teacher tried to act like it wasnt true but then i saw this and i couldnt help but cry. Lennie is my favorite character 😢
Poor george. He was forced to shoot the man he considered to be a little brother, a man with the mind of a child. Only George understood Lennie, even with their problems together. George would most likely go around carrying that guilt forever. He had to take care of Lennie, make sure he didn't get into any trouble, and the one time he didn't, it all went to shit. They never got to have their house, with the rabbits, the cows, and the chickens. George's American Dream died with Lennie. George just wanted a place to call his own, and took Lennie with him, Lennie liked simple things, soft things. I feel so bad for George, on account of how if he ever got the place, it wouldn't feel the same, even with Candy. he must have felt terrible, even with last gift to lennie, taking his mind off of Lennies fears, replacing them with happy thoughts, reminding them of their hopes, making Lennie happy, before sending him off. Leaving George with insurmountable guilt and regret, were it up to him, he'd run away with Lennie again, just like they did before.
Context: George shot Lennie because Lennie accidentally snapped curleys wife's neck
