Thankyou so much for helping me. I am in year 10 and preparing for my exam in May. I was really stuck and confused but this has helped me. Thankyou so much again!
my school does OCR rs and the 12 marks are 15 mark essays and they're so much different because you have to argue and discuss both sides of a statement, but you can absolutely not under no circumstances show even a hint partiality to any one side and that's what makes it difficult to me. one of my arguments always ends up sounding better than the other 😭😭😭
You are able to show partiality. In the introduction, you argue your side, then do maybe 2 paragraphs on one side of the argument and one on the other, then a conclusion, using lots of quotes and evidence.
intro- say some (religion) believe this while other believe that p1- two-four explained points agree p2- same amount explained points disagree conc- sum up one agree point and why they agree and then sum up one disagree point and why they disagree (don’t make any new points)
My school forced us to take RS in Y10 and in my first mock I got an 8! My next RE mocks are in 3 and 12 days so I will be pushing for that grade 9! Thank you so much for these amazing tips!!! :D
Haha 😂 I was just revising RS until I saw your video, for tomorrows y11 exams and same I have made mindmaps for my topics 😅 and the AQA have emphasised that for our conclusion it is important to add a new point, to show the examiners you haven’t ran out of ideas 💡 which will make our conclusion even stronger
This would have helped a lot more if the religious education exam in Ireland wasn’t so drastically changed to be impossible to get a 70+ 😅 thanks Sola, I’ll try my best and comment again on my result in June when I take the exam
@@heidifowler77_7if you want to study theology, secondary school teaching with religion I’d say it’s worth it. In my school I only do it because it’s a compulsory subject. The problem with RE is that there are many schools especially Catholic schools who have RE multiple times a week but then there are schools like mine who in y11 have it once a week and in y10 only had it once a week for half of the school year. There is content we havent covered since the begining of y9 that we are expected to remember. Also because teachers are trying to cram the content we never go through exam technique. So schools like this are at a disadvantage compared to other schools. In the mock we did for Paper 2 most people got a grade 3. It is important to learn about other religions but it isnt great that many of us are forced to do a GCSE on it because the school gets paid for it. Also many of us prioritise other subjects and this makes it harder to get decent grades in RE. To all of you who are in a similar situation i wish you luck with your exam
This sounds annoying, sorry that your RE experience hasn't been the best! I really do recommend getting the CGP Revision guide for AQA as it does summarise things really well amzn.to/3pEvNft It's really good for self-teaching! Hope your exams go well :-) You can beat the odds!
@@SmileWithSola Thank you, the school actually provided us all with free revision guides, i was just using it. Your video was really helpful, I just finished a mindmap of one topic!
btw, you don't need quotes for the 5 marker(q4), it just says include a reference to authority. My teachers went to an aqa training day, and they said you can just write something like 'in the bible, it says that god made the world in 6 days'
You don’t have to write quotes but it looks better if you do, especially since you probably already have relevant quotes if you have been revising. The 12 marker has a quite vague mark scheme so your grade in it is also focused on the examiners perception of you and the quality of your writing. There’s no harm in writing the best essay you can
My RS teacher told me to not repeat points in the conclusion. This is because AQA does NOT double award. ALWAYS use different points in your conclusion and include 2 different quotes in it. This is for a strong conclusion.
I guess it depends on the teacher! I feel like if you’re writing a good essay then you bring points out of nowhere in your conclusion it doesn’t flow naturally and seems like you just put the points in a rush. The whole point of the essay question is to form a good argument and then come to a definitive conclusion at the end, not write as many points as you can. You get marks based on the way you structure your essay not only the points.
@@rubyjess4876 have you seen examples of a grade 9 conclusion? The whole point of a conclusion is to give a justified opinion. This opinion will also need to be backed up by new points, or quotes. You wouldn’t go into detail with the point in the conclusion but you would give the point which will gain you an extra mark. In the mark scheme, AQA doesn’t double award an extra mark if you repeat the same point in your conclusion. For it to flow, you may include the point, but make sure to add another point as it’ll make sure you achieve high marks on that question and you could possibly be overmarked.

This is a really late reply sorry, didn't see this! Hi Sola, Great Vid, agree with everything you said about how you should go through the structure of all the questions 1,2,4,5 and do PPQS and Practice Blurting and A4 Mind-maps to test your O.K, then ask teachers to mark 12 markers (Essay Qs) Could you share the quizlets you have for learning Christianity quotes and any other sources of authority quotes for any of the specific topics, Cheers
Unfortunately I don't, I just made the one in this video for demonstration. They're really easy to make though, just use a revision guide and use short quotes. Glad you found the vid helpful and hope your exams go well!
So for the questions after the blurting should we make flashcards for the topic so we can use them test ourselves after? Or would it not be worth it? Thanksss x
