- We seem to be testing a lot of electric cars lately - the Ora Good Cat has landed here in Malaysia, and in addition to our normal reviews, here is our trip up our favorite mountain road.
They say cats are good for climbing - so let us see how this one fares.

I just bought the same model n color for my wife. Took possession 3 days ago.
My wife really enjoys driving it.
Beautiful looks n nice interior.
The 360 reverse camera is very very good.
Using regenerative mode after 3 days driving daily still 350+ KM range available.
I think my wife can used the car for 2 weeks before any charging is needed.
She is happy as she got phobia pumping petrol alone.
May I know how much u install the wall plug in car porch?

the acceleration seems powerful enough and impressive indeed.. car seems planted throughout the journey and handling seems like most b segment sedan in malaysia .

YS is veteran race / rally driver, pushing the car is like peanuts ! If you close the road and put on roll cage and tire/ wheel change I won’t be surprised that he can clock the time to drop those wannabes glasses ! Yeah ! That is my perception…
Most EV cars have the heavy battery in the middle bottom of car which makes the centre of gravity low & central unlike normal ICE cars. That's why you get good driving dynamics with EVs.
What I presume is the power/regen meter on the right side is nice to watch. 😄

The car is good , the handling should be ok according to Uncle Khong. The only issue is like what uncle said, drive around the city area.....and this car is not suitable for long distance driving unless you willing to drive around to look for charging station once you reach your destination and willing to wait for car to charge itself...
Actually 500km range is one of the best ones around.
There are some cues of the first-gen Nissan Leaf in the design language.
When uncle YS drives, it's no longer a good cat...

Hello YS Kong, would you like to comment on the difference choice of the brake for the front and the rear. I would naturally assume that the cost of the difference kind of brake would be minimal.
The front brakes do 80% of the braking. FYI.
Between this and atto3 because of price. While most will go for atto3 as it has more value and perceived quality. Ora is a good cat it gets the job done.
Its like that friend you have in school. Tries their best, very straightforward and earnest personality but is quite smol & cute very shy and quiet.introverted few friends but people that value her. So quite niche but has charm.
Atto3 will be that guy that is handsome and go to gym and straight a student good in sports all the girls want. Having him by your side gives you a sense of security u know this bro very steady one.if u got any problems he will help u1. But his only flaw is too many people find him so he always busy doing something 😂. extroverted mass market appeal.

The two are very tight left hander corners. I try to take a late apex and slow down enough so that I can get a clean exit line

Whenever you make a joke, I can sense Sashas tension. It's all in the understeer squeal of the tyres that tension builds in a persons body language. The car kept squealing, so she must be hoping your experience would overcome her fears. 21:38 airborne laughter is notably cautious. Sasha has become your live OMG indicator.
Genting Bus crash, 7 people die. Seriously speaking, the 2 bus drivers are now deceased. So this driving is always dangerous and risk filled. Please mitigate the risks.

How much battery left when reached the Genting top, did you recharge the battery before going down hill back home, if yes, where did you tap the power supply from, how long took to recharge the battery ?
At the top we had around 60 percent. Got back to PJ, with about 54 percent because of regeneration, and took us 40 minutes to charge to full at a DC charger

Uncle, am wondering about the costs of running an electric car vs ICE
At the moment it is a little bit cheaper.
Although it is advertised as having 500km of range, Ora Good Cat battery capacity dropped from approximately 90% at BHP station to approximately 40% at the top of the hill, according to the screen, despite BHP to Genting is only 34km away according to Google Maps.
Still unacceptable to be honest
Consumption of energy is aleays higher under load. It is the same with ICE engines.
@@YSKhongDriving But it's ridiculous that the battery dropped 50% on one Genting climb. ICE engine will never consume half tank of petrol just for one Genting climb
@xarifa777 i think michael's point is that even without regen braking, the ICE car will still have more fuel compared to the EV by the time you reach the bottom of the hill

For the price the BYD Atto 3 is a better buy than this ORA namely, you cant pack 5 ppl into this car with luggage for outstation drive. The boot is just too small. Also we have no knowledge of what battery this car is using unlike the lagendary Blade battery in BYD.

Do you have any idea what similarly sized small cars cost? For your info this car is similar to Golf, Mercedes A Class, BMW 2 series.
BYD E1 is about 60-80k RMB. Like BYD ATTO less than 100k Ringgit.
Better spend 170k to buy 5units axia, can change different colour axia to drive everyday. Axia also can take 5 passengers and go to genting.
