Compliments to Molly to growing to a really beautiful young lady. A good idea to bring her on journey right at childhood's end, my ma brought me on journeys each summer between before my 9th to when I was 12. The first one was a trip to US, the last involved the Netherlands.
I’m going to keep doing it every summer until she stops coming. At some point, her life will have other demands, but I’ll enjoy this until then. Claudia is already busy with school in the summers now.
@@hglundahl Yes, no Claudia this summer. She is in college and has full-time summer school. However, she and I are already working on an adventure for next year. She will be back!
Thanks Molly and Stacey! I followed you along your journey and just finished the CF myself last week. Glorious. I left home with 13.5 lbs and dropped a couple things. Have fun this summer! I look forward to your report.
This is a great video! I am surprised at how much you were able to get in those packs. They didn't look all that large or heavy. And the packing cubes are a terrific idea!
My take on Shoes... I take Hiking Boots or Trail Runners with a thicker sole. Some of the trail is on gravel, stone and Roman roads. With a thinner sole, your feet may become “tender” on the bottom. I also bring Hiking Sandals. A bit of heavier choice, but... I start in the morning with my Boots/Runners, then 2-3Hrs in, I switched to Sandals. My belief is that both shoes will rub my foot differently, and thus.... half the rubbing in any one spot. Another must for me is one pair of Hiking Toe Socks (Injinji). They may look silly, but... When you get your Toe Blister, put them on (with your Sandals)... and the pain is gone. In a couple days, the blister is gone.
Molly has used the toe socks some. I tried them, but I couldn’t get used to the way they feel. I think I’m going to take some OOFOS slides this year for the evenings.
Great information thanks Stacey and Mollie. Stacey what is the brand of your rain pants? That they have become “favourites” to hike in is amazing. Do you know how much your filled packs weighed, they look to be a comfortable weight for you both. I hope you can keep the topics coming as I am really enjoying your take on the Camino. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing, we've enjoyed watching all of your videos! Noticed you didn't pack a sleeping bag or sleep liner. Were you ever cold or wish you had either?
Hi Stacey and Molly, always enjoy your videos! I'm starting my first Camino this coming September and I have a very difficult time finding the right pair of shoes... I develop issues with my feet this spring and got Orthotics and for some reason my hikers and runners were not fitting right. With all this, would you think that a running shoes could work for the CF ? Or do you recommend a trail shoe like you girls had? thanks. sorry for the long message !!
I’m probably not the best person to ask, because I always have blister issues. However, we both took hiking shoes (Molly’s were trail runners) and running shoes. We used the hiking ones most days, but found that switching it up some was helpful.
Thank you for the CF series! Getting ready for my first coming up soon. I see you used a GoPro - did it ever overheat on you (mine seems to do that)? Also, did you upload videos during your trip or wait until you were back home? So fun to watch you both!
Great information- thank you. I love how organized everything is. Question-I was curious about your height? I love the look of the Jade 38 from Gregory - but worry it’s too long for me - I’m 5’2”.
This is a MUST WATCH for anyone thinking about the Camino
Thank You!
Thanks for your kind words. Buen Camino!
Thank you again! I leave in a week and will watch this tonight!
Buen Camino!
How cute, she is your total mini me.
Thanks. She is a mini me - except she is smarter and faster….

@@staceyandmollypilgrims Claudia - the girl with sore feet and cleft palate? Is she over in US or are you involved in some other way?

Thank you. I love the packing cubes, and I don’t like a disorganized backpack.

Very helpful! Thank you!!
Thanks. We’re getting geared up again for our next adventure now.
Thank you ladies. Great review. Enjoyed all of your videos along the way.
Thank you!
Immediately spotted the 2 new additions to the family! We hope they are adjusting well.
They are doing beautifully. They are great additions to our family!
Cat count: 2!!!
Correct!

Hello again. My pack weighed about 11 pounds and Molly’s was about 10.
Also, my rain pants are REI brand. This is a big outdoorsy coop in the US. It is my favorite US store.
Thanks for sharing, we've enjoyed watching all of your videos!
Noticed you didn't pack a sleeping bag or sleep liner. Were you ever cold or wish you had either?
We stayed in private rooms, so we didn’t need a bag or liner.

It did get hot, but it didn’t malfunction. I made the long videos once we got home.
great information, had trouble hearing Molly, mom was clear and loud
Molly is naturally very soft spoken. She’s working on speaking up more. Making the videos is part of that, so she’ll be louder soon.
Great information- thank you. I love how organized everything is. Question-I was curious about your height? I love the look of the Jade 38 from Gregory - but worry it’s too long for me - I’m 5’2”.
I am 5 foot even.
Wow, Wonderful pilgrimage story of creating memories with your daughter. May I ask what career you have?
I am a research biochemist.
Enjoy all your videos! Did you happen to weight your backpacks?
Mine was about 11 pounds without water and Molly’s was about 10.
Hi I’ve enjoyed yours and Molly’s commentary and journey…. Just wondering what size your packs were? Thank you
The official size was 38 L, but as we had the XS/S size, they were 35 L. We could have used smaller packs, but we use these for other hikes, too.
How did you get your umbrella past the TSA or did you check it
We checked a foldable duffel with our trekking poles and the umbrella. Pablo carried it in his pack, and we used it to bring the same stuff home.
How much did your backpacks weigh?
Mine was 11 pounds, and Molly’s was 10.
