I use time restricted eating and periodically do longer fasts up to 48 hours, my thyroid meds have almost been dropped to half. I am 54 and was carb addicted for most of my adult life. My labs, my health, my vital signs, my fitness all improved since going low carb and intermittent fasting. Aches and pains and sense of well being, the best they have been in 30 years.
I must thank Mike and Dr. Jason Fung, that interview turned my life around!for the better.

I do a weekly extended fast on top of always doing IF. My thyroid goes low on a weekly basis. This does not, in any way, impair it's function; but actually strengthens it dramatically. By the end of my first refeed, I repeat first, my thyroid is back to better, I repeat better than normal. As long as you are refeeding with the best foods on the planet and metabolically adapted, fasting is by far the best thing we can do for all bodily systems. Hope this helps.

its the same with people who complain about ACV or lemon juice or even freaking WATER (wtf?)
coffee, tea, lemon/lime juice from real lemons/lime and ACV wont harm your fast
its like you go maybe -1 by taking it in, but also by that gettin +5 so you are at a net +4
benefits outweigh any POTENTIAL harm, it does not effect insulin at all maybe like for

eating not always increases cortisol. a few carbs that get you out of hypoglycemia lowers cortisol. especially when gluconeogenesis in the liver does not work perfectly. then the body upregulates cortisol even more. so if you support the blood glucose level somehow else, then cortisol does not need to upregulate gluconeogenesis.
this is why i eat a small outmeal wirh milk in the morning so that cortisol can come down quicker. after eating that, i can feel the relaxing effect-
in one of your videos from the last months you where talking about breakfast and cited a study that showed, that the body is more insulin sensitive in the morning. that fits perfectly into that schedule, so the carbs in the morning result in less insulin than eating carbs in the evening.
the rest of the day i am almost zero carb. for me that seems perfect

    Mike !
    Nice presentation ;) .
I tell you.. I like your speech fluidity way better when you're presenting to a live physical audience.., over.. when you're presenting live, on your channel .
I don't know if it was you being a little more nervous or sth... that made your pace be smoother.. paradoxically more calm. Slower, if you will.. less anxious, above all.
The same good humour and general down to earth stance.. but better presented.. better communicated .
    Congrats !
As for the content.. .. I saw/listened David Sinclair's most recent episode, on Rich Roll's Podcast, today.. and he, as usual.. brought the fundamental approach of Hormesis.. which is the perfect backUp for your final point, on this video _ homeostatic balance.. and ppl going out of their way in order to NOT disrupting their hormones.
One thing is trying to not have Insulin going up & down, all the time..
Another thing is... not stressing one's body to the degree that it will grow 'lazy' in adaptative-capacity.
Not only, shouldn't we worry about not disturbing our bodies... but one should, in fact!, worry about every 'flat lines' on our daily habits & physical activities .
I'm glad you really emphasised this.
    Thanks ;)

How about large amounts of black coffee? I don't put any creamer or sweetener in my coffee, but I generally drink about 24 ounces of coffee throughout the day? For fluids I Drink 64oz of water and green smoothies. Ate vegetable wraps and Avg MACROS: 53g carbs, 30g fats and 21g of protein. Very little sleep from fasting. Completely messed up sleep due to ongoing fasting so my sleep was out of wack. Just did not help me at all. The only result was heightened mental clarity and focus. Was extremely disappointing. Used zero and MyFitnessPal app. Not sure why effective for some and not others. Perhaps hormones. Will try for 2 more months non stop and see if things change.

What happens if you are on keto or very low carbs and doing a long lasting walk in alpine territory or mountainbike ride up the mountain wich both last for several hours and then you eat chocolate or a sweet piece from a bakery ? Does it harm the state of keto/low carbs? Or is it going to burn off right away? There is a lot of calorie burning and sweating going on on those trips. Great job! You spoke well and with such strong authority.. 'm used to the interviewer side of your personality that has such a quiet, calm, mild manner.
