Lol I wrap a lot of these and those are some tricky spots for sure. Some solid advice though, you're wrapping backwards and fighting the film. By that I mean you're just laying the film down pressing it down and stretching to the edges when its bunching up. It's much easier to stretch first, then heat and shrink it around your panel. Like on that front grille if you started by that seam in the middle and then stretched it over to the the other end, then you wouldn't have faught the wrinkles on the bend. The film would naturally hug itself around. On the side cameras, if you hook the film around the front corner and kiss it with heat and then stretch it to the back, then the film naturally contours around the camera on the top and bottom by the tesla logo. Then you just heat and shrink the film around the edges and cut.
Intricate. Can always count on a Brit to land in it one word! Hope you're well Roger. How's the Targa treating you? Did you see I'm vying for a Taycan? What's your opinion of this venture?
@@DWraysGarage i'm well thanks for asking, I sold the targa succumbing to a ridiculously high offer, I cant wait to see the Taycan it's certain to be brilliant, very cool if you get one 👍
Thanks for doing this.. I'm contemplating what I'm willing to work through for my X. I havent wrapped anything in 11 years.. but I'd also like to save some cash! This is convincing me to attempt some small areas for starters.
Let me know if/how you get along with the mirrors. We never did crack that code. Even if you wrap them right, they rub the vinyl off. Maybe Plastidip for those...
@@DWraysGarage That's helpful information! I did call a shop in Franklin TN (Was considering commuting out of state).. and they said they remove the mirror assembly to paint the chrome. Then reattach. I wonder if that's why they do that.
@@DWraysGarage I'm still an amateur on wraping, took me 2h to wrap one mirror cap, but it is really pleasing work to do :) Are you guys gonna wrap the rest of the mirror aswell?
@@jos8651 our patience has not made the trip after two failed attempts. I'd persevere if it were mine but wife seems content. I know, half-job Harry here 👊🤣😂. Congrats on your success. Any inside secrets?!
@@DWraysGarage Haha! Well, I have 2 places that I need to redo when I have time... You can see it if you look really close.. Lucky you, that have a wife you can work with. My wife loves the chrome details on the car...
Why not put the knifeless tape on the top and front side of the side marker too? You have it on the camera side of the indicator, but not the top and far right. I'd imagine putting a larger piece of vinyl and then pulling the string around the perimeter would be FTW then you could tuck. Curious if you tried this and it didn't work.
I believe you are onto something here. The more time you spend with the product, the more creative you become. You have clearly observed that the knifeless tape is an overall game changer for these projects. I was trying to spare cutting an edge and aligning from the top but I believe the tape approach would spare some of the need to manipulate the angles so much. Thanks for watching and good luck with your project! D Wray
I think your instincts are right that it would have helped. While I understood heat was valuable in this type of project, it wasn't until I did a few more parts and cars that I came to grips with how useful it could be - and brutal too if you got too aggressive with it. Thanks for watching. Be well.
Thanks for making this and the Part 1 video! Very helpful. I've been having a heck of a time with the front grill! On the curve I'm trying to stretch and heat the vinyl but no matter what I do I get these narrow wrinkles that cannot be pressed out. Any tips? Do I need to use more heat to stretch the vinyl? Thanks.
Go slow with the heat and work the piece from the middle out. Use the heat for sure, but go nice and slow and don't try and bite off too big a section at a time.

black looks great against the white paint, an intricate job which improves the look of the car.

Would a heat gun help with the sticky ends of the rear chrome? Either way, super brave haha

Dude, great stuff! So far my vinyl wrap footage has been a fail reel, these videos will definitely be credited for the recovery. Cheers!

can you remove that rear T logo ? Are there any holes behind it?
No holes.
