I watched the whole series… loved it! Cried as they passed into the next realm in real life. They felt like my Aunts, Uncles and Grands. Each character was so unique.
Loved this show. Good wholesome comedy. No foul language or strong sexual innuendo (aside from Howard and Marinas playfulness). Sad to say todays programming cant be like it. So many of the shows stars have passed. One of the best shows to ever come out of the U.K. Thank you.
Lol I did too. Watched my Brit coms every afternoon. Now MPT is showing them every weekday afternoon and WETA UK shows 3 hours of Brit coms on Tuesday and Saturday night. I was so excited once my shows came back onto tv. Plus WETA UK just finished airing the new seasons of Death in paradise and Father Brown
Adding your summer wine on the big screen is such a pleasure , thank you so much for your posting, I am a long time subscriber to your channel,,, many thanks
Every time has its own temptations. It was a time when people had standards, traditions, and a sense of duty and community. Then "progressives" came along and decided we needed to get rid of those things.
Ich entdecke , dass einer der " funny oid man ",der ist ,der uns jeden Silvesterabend mit " Dinner for one" , zum Lachen bring ! Und Miss Sopfie spielt auch mit ! Ein überraschendes Wiedersehen ! Thank you !🤣🤗
We are on the western edge of the Pennine chain, so you get occasional shots of the heather-covered hills that separate Lancashire from Yorkshire. The hills were flattened somewhat by various ice ages.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
There is a video of Compo narrating the poem of LOTSW. If you haven't had your heart broken about realizing it before, look it up. Ive planned on it being read at my funeral instead of a eulogy.
Sorry but I'm afraid I'm a bit of a Foggy-as-Third-Man-or-nothing purist. It's series 12 ~ 18 or more preferably series 3 ~ 8, or it's nothing. Mind you - the trio 30 ~ 31 were an eclectic and unique blend with Hobbo, 'Electrical' Entwistle and Alvin and it could have been a sort of fresh start / subsequent renaissance for the series but sadly it was cut short at 31.
Fletcher Hamilton I love the seasons with Foggy! Seymour was alright but I was glad when Foggy came back. Mind you I love all seasons minus the final ones with Hobbo. Even the seasons following the death of Bill Owen. Many didn’t like the show after the passing of Compo but I still enjoyed the writing. Yet, Hobbo was the only character I never took to. I like Cyril, Mr. Wainwright, Crusher, Truly, Billy, Lenny, Mrs. Avery, all the different police officers and everyone really, aside from Hobbo. I was sad the show ended but I never took to Hobbo being in the main trio
@AnonymousOnyx - yeah? I don't know too much about Hobbo as (I'll admit it), I can't find the last seasons on any streaming site. I really yearned for a "back to basics" vibe after the trio became a sometimes-quartet and they didn't seem to know what to do with Truly and Cleggy - were they the main cast or were they relegated to the sometimes-quartet or an at-home duo? And the supporting cast really expanded in those last years. Couldn't keep up, and I suddenly found it hard to believe they'd all been schoolfriends. So when it was Alvin-Entwistle-Hobbo I thought it might have been a new beginning as we suddenly had a relatively young trio of diverse personalities and backgrounds and fresh circumstances. Though I'd agree that Hobbo was a bit unrealistic in his "madness" (all the "Third Men" were basically "Foggy Facsimiles" with conservative politics, some kind of discipline they carry into retirement derived from a highly regimented past career, and being relatively incompetent socially in spite of their faux-confidence), Hobbo being demonstrably "crazy" rather than just an eccentric retiree with delusions of grandeur was a bit too ... farfetched, I guess. Unrealistic in the general tone of the show. It was also symptomatic of the series devolving into ostensible banal pantomime by the late-'90s ~ all the '00s. It became incredibly crowded with more and more characters being created, more and more supporting cast being promoted and traditional cast being demoted... What I LOVE about Series 3 ~ 8 is how realistic it was. Compo was genuinely impoverished, the others had virtually no money, they were almost genuine village outcasts taking refuge in each other's company as much for convenience as historical camaraderie, and there was little slapstick - just verbal / political / philosophical / class warfare jokes and a little bit of physical comedy for good measure. 12 ~ 18 "worked" because you had the same trio but in a more modern (and thus paradoxically nostalgic), setting, with more supporting characters to interact with. It was waaaay more physical / slapstick but enough of the past was retained for it to work. Plus the ones who had grown up with Foggy or had memories of him could rediscover the nostalgia that the series was all about. So Wilde's return was highly fortuitous in that way. I don't think it should have been continued after Owen's death but then again it was a significant local employer, so there's that. Once they got back to the "trio" format with Hobbo and a cast physically capable of the demands of acting like children-in-retirees'-bodies - _that's_ what I wanted it to get back to but, it wasn't to be. But yes - Foggy's tenure was / is _hands-down_ the finest vintage of the series.
All I did was search youtube for info on the '24 Trump/ vs. The Manchurian Candidate Debates ? How did I get here? 🤔 I can't decide if this is old brit com.. or listening to Joe Biden In the 2024 debates😂
Im afraid canned laughter just does it for me. Yes, thing said are amusing but they dont deserve belly laughter. Very off putting, cant watch Roy Clarke, also created Open all hours, filmed in front of a live audience, what a difference.
So sad to see a great show go on too long. The show was compo, Clegg and a third member be it Blameir, Foggy, Seymore but after that lost all is fun. Just a show of extras and no stars.
Shop LDT Of all the third members I think Truly of the yard was the best. Especially how he helped Cleggy when Compo died. Only Frank Thornton could play that part.
I watched the whole series… loved it! Cried as they passed into the next realm in real life. They felt like my Aunts, Uncles and Grands. Each character was so unique.
I felt the same way. Like family passing away very sad. But it was on tv for 37 years proving it was as very great show.
Loved this show. Good wholesome comedy. No foul language or strong sexual innuendo (aside from Howard and Marinas playfulness). Sad to say todays programming cant be like it. So many of the shows stars have passed. One of the best shows to ever come out of the U.K. Thank you.
I can't believe these guys were outdoor types, riding bicycles. They do things kids would crazy things kids would do.
I am 50 now and would watch these when I was in my 20s. I really liked all of them especially Larkrise to candleford..
This was the best. Right now PBS isn't carrying it. Planned my day around these guys.
Lol I did too. Watched my Brit coms every afternoon. Now MPT is showing them every weekday afternoon and WETA UK shows 3 hours of Brit coms on Tuesday and Saturday night. What great writing. Said to be the Queen's favorite, on TV for more than 35 yrs. 1973 - 2010.
Best ever made british sitcom...for so many decades...
Mr.Singletary has the best episodes and recordings and no stupid sparkles in the back ground like the others do👍 thank you !
Yes, just a shame it's only 1/4 of the whole picture.
Such a wonderful series. And no obsenities.
Adding your summer wine on the big screen is such a pleasure , thank you so much for your posting, I am a long time subscriber to your channel,,, many thanks
I do not have any retired friends who's adventurous as these guys. They are always in to something.
Why? Are you secretly hoping to your life would be like the LOTSW, I certainly would, better than todays lifestyle.

I'll never forget Last of The Summer Wine, One of my favorite tv.
Same
Yes, and I only found out about First of the Summer Wine , last year! So more to love...wish that one could have run as long as Last of...
Makes me wish that I was born and brought up there during those times! It's so beautiful and peaceful! Good friends and less temptations.
Every time has its own temptations. It was a time when people had standards, traditions, and a sense of duty and community. Then "progressives" came along and decided we needed to get rid of those things.
@Jim N Looks okay to me. Could be your screen.
"What's inanity if one can share it with friends! " BRILLIANT! I'm hooked!
Inanity is not insanity.
*thatched* just more insane inanity if you ask moiety ....
I prefer this series. Lots and lots of characters. All great Actors.
A really funny Show. But the background is so beautiful. Love Yorkshire.
Ich entdecke , dass einer der " funny oid man ",der ist ,der uns jeden Silvesterabend mit " Dinner for one" , zum Lachen bring ! Und Miss Sopfie spielt auch mit ! Ein überraschendes Wiedersehen ! Thank you !🤣🤗
Love this series. One of the best.
😂 What a priceless find. Pommy comedy at its best, and some veteran actors.
Really loved this show
Love those guys they really know how to enjoy there life and they are always happy.R.S.P.
This Quarantine find is delightful
Just bought box set of all 32 series 😀
Worth every p. 🤗
I miss them so much such an easier time none of the nastiness that goes on these days😊
So love this show 😅so many lols
Some of the stories they come up with are amazing. Rather scary they can make them sound so logical right up to the twist..
Such a great show.
Pity we can't see the full screen.
Hi the
Still the best. Thanx
Great show
enjoying these binging during covid 19 thank you so so much
August 11, 2021. Still one of my most favorite shows but I sure mourned Compo.
Always funny how they all have a go at Alvin for being short, but never tease just-as-short Entwhistle or Clegg.
I love country living. Can't wait till retirement.
If only auntie Wainwright had been teamed with Ron Barker at Arkwright's,what a criminal empire😀😎
Yeah you can see resemblance in them two and Hyacinth Bouquet and Edie (Thora Hird)
That would be a good creative innovative idea; Roy Clarke created ‘Last Of The Summer Wine’, ‘Open All Hours’ and ‘Keeping Up Appearances’.
NOW THAT WOULD BE FUNNY!👍😂
Love Smiler's funny, long drawn wide lips.
RIP Peter Sallis😞😞😞
Love these guys
We are on the western edge of the Pennine chain, so you get occasional shots of the heather-covered hills that separate Lancashire from Yorkshire. The hills were flattened somewhat by various ice ages.
RIP Peter Sallis; total legend.
the voice of wallece
I loved him in everything.
Loved watching this
I love them all

if you have prime its free, starting with season one
That's some funny sh_t. Retired Army
What's insanity for if you can't share it with a friend...
Laughed my head off....
Wish I lived in a village like this.
Entwistle should start a livery service lol.
I love Howard.
Watched this series for a long time and really enjoyed the gentle humour then I realised the full meaning of the show's title...which made me sad...
There is a video of Compo narrating the poem of LOTSW. If you haven't had your heart broken about realizing it before, look it up. Ive planned on it being read at my funeral instead of a eulogy.
A left hand drive Chevy, rare sight across the pond.
Delightful!
love it
Love lotsw.but it was better when compo foggy Sid were in it.
It's all good but we do have our favorites.
I think all Marina wants is someone to love And for them to love her back. Then ID think she would Jack Howard in! 🤔
I would like to give her love
The video overflows the screem
Great place
I been there sat in cafe
I like this show but these blown up and most of the screen off sucks. Thank you so much.
cast of First Of Summer Wine should be in their 50's by now. anyone thinking what I,m thinking?
beautiful countryside...where is this. i think someone told me cornwall? i wish i lived there...heaven!
It’s in Yorkshire
@@chrisedwards487 thank you.
I love the new characters but miss Compo
Who's you're favorite character? For me, it's got to be Burt Kwouk, Mr Entwhistle.
Luv all of them. When i see mr entwhisle he reminds me of my dad.
I have watched most of the LOTSW episodes but my favourited are until Foggy left.
That old lady who sells things it would have been a good tv show if she was on open all hours her and akraight trying to sell thing to each other

I love em all but just in different ways.
I never noticed it before but isn’t Marina being a little bit “cheeky” at 28:04? It looks like it was unplanned too.
it Wallace from Wallace and gromit
So funny
Where are the videos of the old trio cloggie compo and foggy does anyone know a channel that has them?
ua-cam.com/play/RDxbOWkuvdD0w.html&feature=share&playnext=1
They had them on dvd in our library.
You can find em here on UA-cam
Would have liked the women to be nicer to their husbands.
How did Dracula drew blood? Because he was related to Auntie Wainwright hahaha
