One of my favorite sitcoms. It's first episode was broadcast 11 years before I was born. And Peter Sallis was born 1 to 2 years after my grandparents. Rest in peace the departed cast and crew of this phenomenal show.
I am afraid that British Comedy is now dead it ended with the passing of these Wonderful Performances. R.I.P to all the fantastic character actors who made Sunday nights a joy to behold ❤.
U must visit the little town called holmfirth where it was filmed,I've been there few times lovely place, betties steps, the cafe, museum with all ther clothing and compos real hat, and there graves are up the road ,
love this show...great characters...great plots...good old fashioned fun not meant to be sexist or discriminating...it's FUNNY!!! it's entertaining and FUN!!
These "Last of the Summer Wine" episodes are so much fun to watch There's so many wonderful ,goofy characters doing a great job of entertaining us. I really enjoy them💙
Melinda Lemmon, I'm pretty sure I heard enough of the "DALLAS" theme to keep it safe from royalties. So odd to hear that on this series, because I get such a "sense of place" with these characters and this little village. Perfect music for "drilling", I was thinking. Ha ha! Have a great day. :0) Donna B.
I live in the US and Last of the Summer Wine is my favorite UK program. Loved Compo and was so sorry to learn he passed. The tribute was wonderful and very moving. You could feel the geniune sense of loss from the cast. I cried the whole program.
Think I'm going to stop reading the comments I get sad when I see the RIP, I know they are gone but still. I hope the children of these actors know how much happiness they are bring brang brung, and the hours away from we're not in vain.
In last 5 years just under 1 thousand people watched this comedy. It shows how British Young Generations "love" their own comedy. Shame on them.!!! I love British Comedy, and I am Russian by birth. 💕💐
Last Of The Summer Wine is always being on TV in the UK - so I think more people prefer to watch it on TV (better quality picture and sound) instead of UA-cam. But generally speaking, you are right - younger people prefer to watch comedy from their own time as its more relatable and "speaks the same language."
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
How sad that the actors playing the husbands of Nora and Ivy died so soon into the series. Both actors were great in their roles; this left Pearl and Edie as the only battleaxes with husbands left alive to terrorize.
I can't believe how young Cleggy and Howard look in this one. It was an old one with Edie and Compo in it. I know people liked Compo, but I prefer the later ones with Billy and Alvin.
Nah, Seymour and Wesley make all their stuff from cast-offs. Check out the eps "The Thing in Wesley's Shed" or "Wheelies" to see just how crazy it can get!
I saw him in Monarch Of The Glen, once. Quite surprising to hear him speak in his natural accent in that, he's not a Yorkshire man at all, he's Scottish.
The original concept was two blokes made redundant and one bone idle one who had almost never worked. Passing away their days. Filmed in the late seventies in the north of England. Mass unemployment and no chance for a job. For men of there age.
Actually in this episode Marina, has a striking resemblance to present day Samantha Fish............. although Marina here is some bit older than Samantha.
No, it's the video. Mr. Fettig has to show it this way to avoid copyright violations. If we want better viewing, we'll have to buy the DVDs or subscribe to Britbox!
@@lisagulick4144 Ah I see.. so its about money then. You would think they would just let us watch it for free now though, because the actors and film crew will either be all dead now or nearly, so I cant see any need to pick our pockets any further.. because we already paid for this programme years ago through our TV licence's.. The BBC have been robbing us blind for years.
@@Zionist-Occupied-Government Okay, I've been curious about this for a long time. In the UK you pay a license for your television set. Is this like a cable subscription, but instead of premium channels, it's just plain broadcast TV? Do you just pay once, when you buy the TV, or is it a monthly or annual fee?
@@lisagulick4144 As far as I know every house that has a TV inside must buy a TV license. I heard that for every TV that you have in the house you must also buy a license for as well.. and they are pretty expensive. The money goes to the BBC who are currently the UK propaganda pushers and more and more people are realising this. So really we pay money towards a cooperation who are also heavily funded by the UK Government, so the Government use this station for biased information by use of documentaries and live debates etc. Frankly the BBC is hated by many UK citizens and its days are numbered and many of us are refusing to pay this " fee " which we've had imposed on us for decades.. even if we dont watch the BBC we have to pay it or face prosecution
@@Zionist-Occupied-Government That sounds really unfair. In the USA, the theory is that the airwaves belong to all of us, so according to that theory, broadcast TV is free. Of course, in _practice_ it's the broadcasters who pay, in the form of a license from the Federal Communications Commission. This government agency determines what channels can be used for what purpose (the VHF frequency Channel One, for example, has always been used for military and emergency services; another, known as the Public Broadcasting Service [PBS], is supported entirely by grants and viewer subscriptions) as well as setting programming standards (such as what language is permissible on the public airwaves). The commercial networks pass the cost of their FCC license on to advertisers, who sponsor various programs. That's why when you watch an American TV program that's supposed to be an hour long, you get 20 minutes of commercials for Scarf-O Snacks or Ache-Away Analgesic Cream. Pay cable and online streaming services are rendering these facts obsolete even as I write this; I'm betting the same is true in the UK as well. BTW, whatever bad stuff the BBC has produced over the years, I still appreciate that it gave us Monty Python, Doctor Who, and of course Last of the Summer Wine!
Basically, a comedy show about old women abusing old men but imagine what the outcry would have been had the comments used in this show changed gender and men spoke to the women the same way.
this is misogyny, you great prawn, on the part of the writer. i am philosophical enough not to care, and to rise above it, for it's so much fun, anyhow...

Never seen this show before, it’s very funny! I live in the US and I loved the “Dallas” theme song when they started drilling for oil 😂
I remember that scene!
On PBS in the states, after maybe 5 episodes I bought 15 years of DVDs. Will never be anything as good ever again.
Did ever see First of Summer wine, it on here. When mostly the main characters were young, before the war.😊

I just love the song and the Actors.
Seymour’s actor should have been a Doctor in Doctor Who. His character was very scatterbrained and eccentric like The Doctor from Doctor Who.
Its a marvellous part of the country. i grew up north of Sheffield.
WOULD LIKE TO SEE LATER EPISODES WHEN HOWARD WOULD SNEAK OFF TO VISIT MARINA WHEN SHE WORKED FOR THE CO-OP! HOPE THAT IS POSSIBLE . 👍👍😁
Thank you that was so funny.
MUCH better sound quality than the Singletary videos.

Sundays not the same without Last of the Summer Wine.

If you watch the first 2 series of summer wine. Clegg does not fear women and is a confident person.
i said that the other day he becomes more timid as the series progresses
There is an episode about the hot dog in the middle of the road. Can you show it. It was funny.
Their inventions and ideas remind me of Wiley Coyote and Roadrunner. But I suspect the parts are still from the Acme Company UK Division.
I wonder whether Red Green was inspired by Seymour and the other inventors on this series😂😂😂
