Tom Owens is a very good actor and as good as his father was. He is a credit to him, and his father would be proud. His character is charming, as was Compo.
Pearl and Howard remind me of my late aunt Lucy and uncle Alec. May they all rest in peace. Love you auntie and uncle. You blessed me with many great memories

My favorite element of this series has always been the beautiful countryside, and how it's so much a part of life when you live there...most of the action takes place on these long rambles...it'd be heartbreaking to see any of it paved over to make blocks of flats for the megrant invasion.😥
@@waynemarvin5661 coming in a little late here, but she meant “migrant”. I’d like to say it was misspelled like some of her other comments, but she gave this one the magic touch of xenophobia.
been watching these for years. I bought the dvds and every so often rewatch them. Just good old laughable fun. No cussing, naked women or political agendas. What a breath of fresh air from the garbage sitcoms of today.
It's a shame that this series came to an end and that most of the cast are now dead,..RIP......at this point in my life I would have loved to live in a place like that and have friends like them,....I would have been happy and comfortable in my later years.
I am reading Kathy Staff's book "My Story-Wrinkles and All"-and I am loving it-she starts with her childhood love of being on stage-she knew at 3 years old she wanted to act-and did she ever make it!!
Howard was like a mouse peering out from behind the fridge , what a Pearl he married. And poor Barry being a Big Gormless Gob walking beside the coffin in his best suit .
those were the good old days with Clommpy , Cloggy and Froggy , Moira Batty , Syd and Lilly , Granny Wheelwright , Gary and Brenda , Howard and Madonna , Pearl and Dean , Pesley Wegdon , a spiffing good show all round what !
If you mean "left alive" I don't know but if you mean "on the show" Norman Clegg appeared in every episode and was the only character so to do. He's passed now.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

In the fifty’s and sixty’s a kitchen was a sink a cooker a table to prepare food and one free standing cupboard. Some older people still had this type into the 1990 if they where in an original marriage home but not well off.
To be fair, she'd probably be nicer to him if he was nicer to her. He almost never takes her out to eat, chases after another woman, but expects her to do his laundry, cook his meals, and clean his house. I'm surprised she doesn't want to escape him!
one of the most funniest episodes, a coffin was a bit of a give away telling us who is dead. Funny it landed on Howard going down the hill, it should have landed on everyone cause they are all dead now.
Howard never got any from Marina. If he got any from Pearl, it would have to have been on their honeymoon. He isn't exactly Casanova, though he thinks he is. Like many men, he has delusions of adequacy in certain areas, like understanding women (that's a lost cause, I'm a woman and I don't understand women).
Why doesn't Pearl just live her life separately and let Howard do the same and just live like roommates? Neither love each other. Just share the house to cut expenses. His pension pays for everything and she pays by keeping house and cooking and laundry. She's breaks her marriage vows to Howard everytime she disrespects him as an individual human being. He's not nearly as guilty as she is, because it seems that Howard has never made physical love to Marina. Pearl is a controlling witch.
Tom Owens is a very good actor and as good as his father was. He is a credit to him, and his father would be proud. His character is charming, as was Compo.

this reminds me of Sunday nights when I was in primary school. Had my bath and would watch last of the summer wine with a cup of tea before bed.

No, some veriy early editions of this show are sexist, homophobic, xenophpobic and otherwise discriminatory. But still entirely watchable.
Love watching - all series enjoyable. Thanks

Sad that most have passed on now
Marina just wanted some fun but sadly Howard coudnt provide that. It was all innocent.
If Howard were to direct his wayward energy toward Pearl.......... she would hurt him in ways that Marina wants to.
How close to the last one is this? Would like to see year first viewed as well as notation of who is new and who has left.
I noticed over the series that members we're changed alot
wesley would have fixed that coffin
Most definitely
I believe the only ones left from the “original” are Howard, Pearl, Marina, Barry & Glenda
none of them were in the original series, they joined later.
Jane freeman, who played ivy is probably the last surviving original cast member.

Wht is a "fitted" kitchen?
It just means that cupboards are in organised so suit position of sink, cooker, fridge etc and fixed to wall.
its just a modern kitchen with dishwasher , microwave, gas stove top, built in oven ect. these days its just a normal kitchen.
a kitchen with cupboards, shelves, and appliances that are fixed in particular places where they fit exactly
In the fifty’s and sixty’s a kitchen was a sink a cooker a table to prepare food and one free standing cupboard. Some older people still had this type into the 1990 if they where in an original marriage home but not well off.
When I started watching these episodes, they had less than 100,000. views.
I can see why Howard needs to "escape" all the time, living with Pearl.
Agree-she is just plain nasty to him-and tells all her friends how bad he is-and I am a 75 y/o woman
