Thank you. My dad taught me a lot of stuff over the years, but he didn't have a farm so I never learned how to stretch barbed wire. I recently bought a small acreage and this video just helped me out big time. Thanks again.
When you are attaching barb wire to a metal post, it might be best to go around the post twice. This will keep the wire from sliding down the post when spacing the strands of wire.
The most important part of the installation is the setup he has on his ATV to unspool the wire. This type of project is impossible without something like the spoiler as the wire spool is very heavy.😊
Nice basic tips and simple , great help . I also never thought about picking up the wire scraps I just ran barbed wire today and now I gotta go back and do my goats don’t eat em

@LewisRenovation If you're going over uneven, bumpy terrain, would you make tops of the tee posts level and keep the wire level, or would you keep the height of the tee posts consistent (going up/down w/the terrain), and just measure wire position from top of tee posts as you go?
Send some of that wire to us!!! Sheffield wire sucks! We had a strand break today and it wasn’t even tight yet. Also, you can pull off of the post, you don’t have to have a skid steer. Another thing it you want to wrap your wire twice and if you go under the run on the first wrap you want to go over the run on the second when tying off. It’ll put a bind on it and keep it from slipping. Also, if you ever have to fix it in the future it gives just that much extra slack to work with.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, that little tool you had attached that you said was "special". Where can I get that? I don't have anyone to help with my fences and I'm trying to find any little thing that can help?@@LewisRenovation
Mr. Lewis, that ATV attachment looks awesome, I'm doing a fence line myself and would really like to see a picture of it or short video on it, do you have either? Would like to build one. Thanks. EddieGzz
Can I use the metal stakes as the beginning and ending of the fence? How far down should I hammer the metal stakes? Do I need to stretch razor wire as well?
@@LewisRenovation Well I carry both and use both but I feel with barbed wire I find myself using the fence stretcher a lot more especially when repairing it from a break. Just seems it’s a lot quicker and more convenient.
New subscriber here, came for your barb wire post, but really enjoyed the mesquite post. I too, share your battle with unwanted plant infestation. We don’t have much mesquite in Oregon, but make up for it with a whole lotta wild blackberry vines.
Question I have an existing barbed wire fence. I want to fence in a portion if my yard for my beagle dogs using the existing barbed wire fences t posts. What can I use to layer over the barbed wire to keep my dogs from passing through?
Woven wire like this should probably work. You'd need to make sure the openings are small enough. Take care and good luck. www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/red-brand-woven-field-fence-330-ft-l-x-47-in-h
In the uk we call it "sheep netting". Sheep netting with two strands of barbed wire on top, is called "stock fencing". 'Go figure' as you'd say across the pond. The best thing abt this video is the background music - it gives the content both authority and authenticity.
Something like this. Kind of a compromise between dexterity and protection www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/west-chester-mens-grain-cowhide-leather-driver-palm-patch-gloves-634999999--1
Run the bottom wire first to set all the posts. If it's a long fence, once all the posts are in move it to the top and then work your way down. Keeps the barb wire from getting all tangled up
I welded up what I call "the tree". It would hold up to 3 rolls of wire that you can roll out in 1 pass. Basically a verticle pipe 5ft tall. then it had 3 horizontal pipes welded about 18" apart. Put your rolls on, then put the big washers on after the wire roll, and then pin it with a thru bolt. 3 wires worked good, fast and easy...but any more and they would tangle on the ground bad. I tried with 5....a disaster. 4 was doable but still a tangle to fight. 3 was a breeze. afterwards I ended up going back and welded up 3 rings as wire guides. The wire rolls were stacked verticle, but the wire guides would lay the 3 wires on the ground horizontally about 18 inches apart. No more tangles at all then. I ended up mounting all of this to 3 point round bale carrier that goes on the back of a tractor. I cut the spear off and went from there. With us using the hell out it for the fact it worked really good, I ended up adding a carrier for a 5gal water cooler and also boxes for carrying tools, staples and lastly a rack that could carry about 30-40 t posts at a time.

Thanks, I'll try that next time
When correcting a guy who made a how to video it's best to not do that and just go make your own video if you think you're better at it.
Awesome video! Thank you for taking the time, and videographic effort, to make such a thorough video!
The music was a nice fit!
What a great comment! Thank you

Good luck with your goats. I’ve never had any but I hear they are major escape artists
You made that look easy. I think I can do it. Beautiful property and view btw.
Good luck. Let me know if any questions come up.

Good video man do a video on the attachment you made for the 4 wheeler to unroll the barb wire thanks

If it’s just a pasture fence, probably follow the land. If it’s like a front yard fence, might make it level
Thank you for sharing the knowledge
Wow! Thank you for the comment
How seperated should the metal post be? Every 10ft?
I generally space 12 feet apart

How far apart are your t-post and what’s the furthest length you can go before stretching the Barbwire?
T post are usually about 12 feet apart. I’ve rolled out 2000 feet before stretching and it worked just fine
What was the special tool called? And was the barbed wire attached to the chain that was attachef to the tractor? Great vid
I think you’re asking about a wire gripper. And yes, the chain needs to attached to something like a tractor, tree, truck …

I had the same skid steer and loved it
Mine has almost trouble free for 10 years
What is the tool called that tightens the barb wire ? Thanks
Are you asking about a “come along”? Thanks for commenting!
I didn’t know bees would stay in the barbwire. Highly trained.
My wife is an especially talented bee keeper:)
Can I use the metal stakes as the beginning and ending of the fence? How far down should I hammer the metal stakes? Do
I need to stretch razor wire as well?
You really need something more substantial on the ends, like wooden posts. Hammer the T posts down until the flat piece on the bottom is in the ground
Thank you! Quick and easy. Greatly appreciated
Hope your fence project turns out well
Do you like the come along better than the fence stretcher tool? Nice job!
I think a come along works better, plus it has other uses like pulling a truck out of the mud or strapping something down on a trailer. Thanks!

Can u share an Amazon link to the wire stretching tool?
Search for Dreyoo Barbed Wire Pullers on Amazon. This is just one Chinese brand but there others as well
“Trailer queen leased 4 wheeler”. Hahaha!!! I like your style

How deep are those metal poles where you secured the wire?
3 feet in the ground
