    • Echo chainsaw carb fix...
This echo chainsaw was put up a few months ago and now it won't start. Let's find out if it's still fixable. We definitely don't want to spend lots of money only to realize it is too far gone.

I'm honestly thinking about covering the whole thing with gasoline and lighting it on fire because I'm so tired of trying to fix them after they sit for awhile

You mean the pressure gauge and screwdriver and socket wrench you dont need the camera to see if the cylinder or the piston is scored you don’t need that spark tester to see if there is spark and a new carburetor wont help with the compression lost from a scored cylinder and why not check the piston ring since you were in there

Good video. I do compression tests on every engine I work on because if the top end is done there's no point in going further.
BTW you can test spark plugs off the engine using a piezo gas grill igniter (the red pushbutton deal you use to ignite most grills) an old spark plug boot, and a ~4" piece of solid copper wire for the outside ground. Assembly is self-explanatory to any mechanic. I've used mine for many years.

Ob Fuscated what you said makes a lot of sense. The compression was low as this saw was used for years cutting firewood for a homeowner. I might have to try the igniter idea. Thanks for watching.

I bought an Echo 20" Timberwolf, and earlier today after numerous tries to start it, it never did. Brand new saw. I measured and mixed a second batch of 50:1 gas, and it still would fire up. Got tired of cranking. It smelled flooded. Returning it tomorrow for a full refund of over $400. Going with a "Husky" or a Stihl 20" as well. Thank you for the video.

I had the same thing happen to me once on my CS590 but after I let it sit a while it fires up every time. It's also a phenomenal saw best value in the business.

I bought CS310. It had hard time to start when it is new. Then I stop use for several month after no more than 3 hours use, it had start issue. I could not figure out what was wrong. It is echo and every thing looks like new. I do have bunch of echo two stroke engine products, they are all good. But this chainsaw is so sucks.

Be sure to use the fancy starter fluid with oil in it.
