Brother, my guy, somewhere down the line you gotta do a behind the scenes vid for how you’re doing the talking Kelton-Davis-LEGO-man animation and other wizardry behind the camera, particularly your lighting! IMHO your approach oozes 90s toy commercial nostalgia, gotta love it.
I love the Exploriens theme, characters, and setting! I’m personally not a huge fan of most of the sets themselves, but there’s simply no denying how amazing the Exploriens Starship is; it certainly ranks up there with the greatest LEGO Spaceships of all time, in my opinion! 😊
That last ship, the way it "slouches" when you lift it off the ground somehow expertly adds to its realism, tricks you into thinking it's a genuinely heavy machine lifting off.

This is definitely the definitive LEGO Explorien retrospective! I've been hearing a lot of bad buzz against that thème before, glad to see it still gets some much deserved love
I've wanted the Explorien Starship ever since I was a kid. Still haven't found one at a price I'm willing to pay, as I expect it to be 100% complete even if it's used. Like you, the Alien Fossilizer was my first Exploriens set, and is what forever won my heart over to the Lego Space themes. As for the scientific instruments that you jokingly referred to as big laser cannons, as a kid I always imagined them to be some kind of communications gear, or maybe some type of radio telescopes. Really cool looking either way!
Love this! I was always fascinated by the Exploriens theme, but I only ever got the Hovertron and the Planetary Decoder. Even though I spent a lot of time staring at pictures and scans of that hologram transmission sticker, I think this is probably the best look I've seen at it; the pictures really don't do it justice. And I'm fascinated by the tiny interior of the Explorien Starship. Thank you for such a great video!
What I like about these is that it still gives you some of the great play features in the smaller sets. But yes, that transmission sticker is amazing! 🤩
Fantastic video, very high quality! I had a few of these as a kid as hand-me-downs from family members, but always found the red/blue fossil feature very cool. Thanks for sharing!

@@keltondavisLEGO oh also! since you seem to be a fan of the gimmicks (I know you're probably getting flooded with recommendations atm), but the lego moviemaker sets were influential to me becoming a filmmaker, and I loved the way each set had its own "on set" gimmick, like the exploding bank. just another wonderful series

Hot take, if I may: Aquasharks has a more sleek villain color scheme than Blacktron I. I would prefer the neon orange of Aquasharks to the yellow of Blacktron more than half the time. I do believe it works better because of its underwater setting more than anything, but space can also have blues to blacks as well.
Exploriens has been familiar to me since playing alongside them in LEGO Racers, and over the years I have gathered more of the sets or had opportunities to build them firsthand. Hovertron is a neat little low-gravity vehicle, I even built 2 of them! That being said, the handle assembly is a little clunky and does separate by accident every so often. Alien Fossilizer is the latest that I obtained, and unfortunately fell apart quickly after obtaining too. I love the magnetic stickers between this theme and Insectoids. I'd recommend a few modifications to keep this more stable. Nebula Outpost is a unique design and reminds me of the spacecraft later seen in LEGO Island 2. Despite having a small footprint, the opening panels help this thing feel more welcoming inside for analyzing data and sending transmissions. Scorpion Detector has a unique box to show off its pieces but the assembly made it very sturdy. I like how flexible the arms on front are, even enough to fold them all the way back for a compact travel. I also like how easily the trailer can unhitch while standing on its own, making this feel like 2 vehicles in 1. I built the Android Base years ago and enjoyed playing with it, and nowadays I've welcomed two copies of it in my home, one with the box! I recognize it instantly from LEGO Racers as it was positioned near a shortcut on a race track, and entering the correct combination of colored gates opened the two hatches for passage. For living on a 16x32 baseplate this base has a great presence and some nifty vehicles to correspond with the base features.
