Still rocking my Emonda SLR 6 bought new in 2016. Weighs 6.7kg and simple to use and maintain, why buy anything newer? Thank you for continuing to highlight this stupidity.
Speed bumps in the Woolies carpark, not easy. Expensive damage. Then realise after expensive repair bill that couldn't fit groceries in car anyway and strapping them on with rope was a bad idea as squashed groceries are seen plastered under wheels on the road way in rear view mirrors..but I digress.

Nice! That's mental, so the integra had ultegra on some tarmac laid on a roundabout in 2006 and you did an endo to miss it? Just kidding. Yeah nothing wrong with ultegra hey?

when you ride at 150 watts or 200 watts up a climb it really doesnt matter which bike. but even for us U19 riders we put out 5-6 w/kg we do 300+ watts and push the limits and having a modern bike is not important if you want to survive the race but to win and crush everyone you kinda need a modern bike
Having heard that the racing had sped up over the years because of the new bikes. A Grade today is much faster than ten years ago because of the bikes. However , as we all know that's more about ability.
@ not to be rude the sl8 pro weighs 7.1 kg with pedals, and more aero than contadors bike, and climbs faster due to the weight being less significant compared to the aerodynamics of the bike at U19 cycling level or 5-6 w/kg
in the modern pro peleton most riders have near identical abilites except freaks like pogi wout and more but if you have a shit bike for a season that can end your career
For modern bikes Cube are pretty much the best you can get. More reasonable prices, no hookless bs and their top tier climbing bikes are legit 6.5/6.6kg in a size 56.
@durianriders fair point, without pedals. About as light as you can get with modern bikes without taking huge risks when it comes to stability and safety.

@3.30, you are really supposed to do all this when you replace the wheel? I've seen many riders turn up at a race and no-one checks their wheel like that. So what happens after if they don't?
This is the WT vs a local crit where people are still learning everything cycling. Why you think the brands FORCED the teams onto disc by CANCELLING any rim brake option? Road disc is SO much extra faff for not ZERO gain but actual loss because of the slow bike change everyone is now a victim of.
@@durianriders Since I saw this video and spoke today with a bike mechanic who told me that the disc will move once the wheel is removed while travelling, then the brakes are out of line. Dura Ace 7800 Groupset is all you need, if it's good enough for lance Armstrong it's good enough for me even 30 years later.

Today's bikes may be slightly harder to work on but the aero is vastly superior to yesteryear.
😂😂😂
GCN measures them at 12-16w slower at 40kph
Unless you are riding in the Tour who cares about aero, really......
i'll take a 2014-2016 rim brake bike anyday, super cheap now

Modern bikes are faster, safer, and much better looking. And maintenance is super easy. The people who say it’s complicated have two left hands.
How long does it take you to drop out a fork on a modern day bike for a steerer check?

6.6kg with pedals? Not in the WT lol. That sounds like one fragile AF frame and would ride like a noodle if you can push decent watts.

Its really not that hard to change the fluids on a disc brakes, buy a Amazon kit, bleed them, easy
It’s not hard at all. But you do it right….. get it perfect for every ride…. with road disc so you have even lever pull every stroke….
