Hi Blake - thanks for the video! You briefly mentioned that you didn't like the predator line with the salt, do you mind adding some additional context? I love the idea of the salt as a streamer rod, but also would want to pair it with something like a Predator for bass fishing. Thanks for your thoughts!
Having both rods in 6wt, the Core is far superior in every aspect. Contrary to what others have said, the Salt has a stiffer butt section and lacks feel and power. The Core has more of a sling shot effect that absolutely launches line. If you really want an excellent salt/streamer rod, the Alpha plus 6wt is a winner. I’ve put over a 100 days on the water w/ all three of these rods. Cheers!
I live in Michigan and am looking at the R8 core. I need your expertise. I am looking at the 7wt that can do bass fishing with poppers and streamers along with Steelhead indicator fishing. Suggestions of if the Core is a good rod and what floating lines to pair with it.
I think it'd be a great rod. I'd want the 9 footer for the bass fishing and the 10 footer for the indicator fishing though. A Rio Predator Elite floater for the bass fishing and the Rio Xtreme Indicator for the steelhead fishing. I think if you were wanting a rod for both, I’d go with the R8 Core 9’ 6wt w/ fighting butt.
