Thanks for the superfast next-level review as always. I'll be all over it as soon as it hits the UK
Thanks for watching, Paul.
You can always support Ben… even with the taxes it’s been cheaper to import on my Ross reel I bought from trident.
@@SiPreston Right on, brother
I would really like to see a review of the Douglas Sky G 8wt.
For all around saltwater fly fishing which is better in your opinion? Sage Salt R8 vs Hardy Marksman Z? In 8wt??
What’s the difference between the R8 regular 8wt and the R8 Salt 8wt?
Thank you Ben.
No problem, Jacek! We're glad you're enjoying the content
Hi Ben, how does it compare to your very own Atlas?! Yours is a lot cheaper, and from I can see, yours is as high spec?
We think you'll like the Atlas. However, with our Castability Guarantee, you can purchase both and fish/cast them side by side for 7 days. Return the rod you don't want for a full refund.
@@Tridentflyfishing Thats an insane offer!

How would you compare it to the Winston Air Salt ?
No comparison, the Winston blows it away.
The Air Salt is going to be a little softer
You need to do all reviews like this and do them on the water the lawn is different than water.
We'd love to be able to do that for each rod. However, with Maine winters, we're somewhat limited
@@Tridentflyfishing gotcha, it would be cool though to see a trout rod review in a winter stream
@@spearfisherman308 Noted! Thanks for the feedback.
I don't know about Sage having one of the best warranties in the business. I'm moving away from Sage because their warranty process has been a nightmare for me recently.
Agreed, especially if your rod is over 10 years old! It gets expensive fast. They did a little bait and switch with their warranty as of late.
Most rod manufacturers are bad now, hardy used be excellent now completely useless. Try even registering your newly purchased expensive rod on their Web site. I'll never buy a new rod ever again. If you pay virtually a grand for a rod you should get flawless after sales experience. It's an utter rip off.
@@starskyarsky8374 Why these rods cost a grand is beyond me. It costs about $20 for the blanks, maybe $80 in total cost for the rod. The wraps are nothing special. You can get a Burkheimer for less money and then you have something worth leaving to your kids.
@@FlyingFox007 yep, I never buy a new rod now. Wait til they get discounted. Technology moves fast but most new rods are just a different name with a new coat of gloss. Don't get me started on lines!!! 🤣
@@starskyarsky8374 I got virtually all my "top end" gear as end of line discount.
Line will give you more reach than a rod ever will though 🤷♂️
As much as I enjoy your reviews... I have come to think, you don't like anything that's not Scott... And particularly you don't like Sage nor Fiberglass rods....
We've all tried loosing our edge after casting all day long, so maybe don't fish an entire day before reviewing a rod in the wind. It doesn't come across as particular fair to the rod and as a rod designer I would be really disappointed with this review. Wonder what the score would be with a fresh arm and no wind.
Get what you say and may be in the same page, plus not every action appeals to every caster. But in my case I do prefer to try a rod in wind conditions or whatever tells me Id be able to handle such situations while fishing with the rod Im picking.
If it is supposed to be a saltwater rod and it cant handle long casts it's pretty much useless, 1100 usd wasted....
