When I was in Junior High, I got picked on by 3 upperclassmen who were all on the Varsity team. One day they broke my new glasses. The next day my father went up to the school and talked to the vice principal, who just happened to be the head football coach. He said the boys denied it and he was backing them up. My dad told him that if they messed with me again, I had his full permission to fight back and that if any charges were brought against me, the school would find themselves in a nice lawsuit. 2 days later the cops were called to the school when those guys tried to jump me in the gym in front of almost 2 hundred people (staff and students). Everyone saw them start it, but they damn sure watched me finish it. The cops came, as did all four of our parents. That was the last day they ever messed with me. Now that my little boy is in 2nd grade and getting bullied, I get to have the same discussion with the school's principal and resource officer.

Schools don’t care about people getting bullied. You go and tell someone you’ll be considered a snitch and it will make the situation way worse. I’ve been through it bullied and I made the mistake of telling the principle and what did they do, brought us both to the principle office the next day saying you two need to make up become friends. That made it worse and my life a living hell. And I got in trouble for standing up for myself for said bully for touching me first. They didn’t get in trouble; I did. The school doesn’t care. It’s the sad truth.

Bullying already has awareness in schools, so trying to raise awareness is only going to escalate the bullying unless schools actually do something about it (or students being bullied do something about it themselves).

When I was in Junior High, I got picked on by 3 upperclassmen who were all on the Varsity team. One day they broke my new glasses. The next day my father went up to the school and talked to the vice principal, who just happened to be the head football coach. He said the boys denied it and he was backing them up. My dad told him that if they messed with me again, I had his full permission to fight back and that if any charges were brought against me, the school would find themselves in a nice lawsuit. 2 days later the cops were called to the school when those guys tried to jump me in the gym in front of almost 2 hundred people (staff and students). Everyone saw them start it, but they damn sure watched me finish it. The cops came, as did all four of our parents. That was the last day they ever messed with me. Now that my little boy is in 2nd grade and getting bullied, I get to have the same discussion with the school's principal and resource officer.

Schools don’t care about people getting bullied. You go and tell someone you’ll be considered a snitch and it will make the situation way worse. I’ve been through it bullied and I made the mistake of telling the principle and what did they do, brought us both to the principle office the next day saying you two need to make up become friends. That made it worse and my life a living hell. And I got in trouble for standing up for myself for said bully for touching me first. They didn’t get in trouble; I did. The school doesn’t care. It’s the sad truth.
