I just got my Vyper which is my first 3D printer and had it set up and printing in 30 minute. I'm old and somewhat computer illiterate but this thing has been fairly easy to get up and running. The bed leveling and quietness were the main selling points for me and both have not disappointed.
Cool review. I'm a fan of these but I too worry about reliability in the next days, weeks, months, and years. Could you do a video on the best printer for a farm in 2021? I'm thinking prusa still takes the top title, particularly the mini, but would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you Alex Chopra! Reliability (and support) is always a concern with 3D printers. I did test out their support and they seemed knowledgeable but a little slow to reply, and if they need to send parts they'll take a while to arrive by all accounts. Thanks for the video suggestion. Out of the printers I own - if I had the money I'd stick with the Prusa MK3S+ for a print farm. The Mini+ is pretty good now but had a lot of issues initially. Time will tell whether this printer would be an option. But will give it some more thought for a future video.
Hello, good review! Would you mind sharing how much space the printer needs to operate (especially in depth)? I'm wondering if it would fit in an Ikea Platsa w=60cm, h=60cm, d=55cm (outer dimensions, inner dimensions estimated w=56, h=56, d=54). I have yet to find any information on an enclosure for the Vyper...

I have had my Vyper since they were first available ( i3MEGA prior to that). It has printed flawlessly right out of the box. I typically use IdeaMaker as my slicer. re: NOISE. I did put a variable buck converter to the PSU fan. Tune to voltage to as acceptable air flow and noise level. BIG DIFFERNCE. Easy mod. Great review. Thanks.

Thanks! What file do you mean sorry? With regard to speed, try reducing the playback speed to 0.75x - UA-cam does a good job on this. And you can enable captions - I have full transcripts for every video - you can enable auto-translate to French. Hope that helps.

Thank you SO MUCH for going over the extruder gear screw coming loose. People kept telling me my printer was clogged and whatnot, but then I saw this video talking about this and I checked, and it was indeed loose causing very bad print quality. Thank you so much for this as I've been trying to battle this issue for around 6 months and almost gave up.
Bed leveling is definitely a cause of frustration for beginners, but realistically, it gets even worse with experience! The more you level beds, the more you wish the process was automated. Hopefully no-maintenance, hands-free leveling like this will become increasingly standard in printers. Thank Anycubic and soon Prusa for leading the industry towards that goal.
I bought this printer and it looks amazing... The only problem is I haven't been able to print anything... I have no idea how the programs work or the slicer works... So The printers just collecting dust

If you don't need the extra volume and have the extra money the Prusa Mini is pretty good - more for the built in profiles in Prusa Slicer and the 24 hour chat support - I get similar quality from both. I did have a lot of problems with my first Mini though and ended up with another one, so still struggle to recommend it outright!
Hello! Some things are a bit superficial ... Ender 3 V2 has no touchscreen. Vyper has built in TMC 2209 drivers but they are not supported as such by the motherboard, so useless. You have a modified version of Vyper in front of you, recognizable by the flat Z-Stop switches, modified hotend and plug on it. The first versions were very vulnerable, the newer ones hopefully not. That's right they did make a few changes after they released this printer initially. Well spotted on the Ender 3 V2 - I only have the Ender 3. I quite like the dial personally!
My son bought an Ender 3 and I later bought an Ender 5. I bought us both a Big Tree Tech main board which is a vast improvement in noise as it can control the stepper motors better and we installed BL Touches which work just fine. All printers should have automatic bed leveling and be as quiet as possible in my opinion. Thanks for your review...
Sounds like some great upgrades. Noise is a big issue I agree - I think 3D printers are generally nosier than people expect - even one with quiet steppers. The Prusa Mini is the only printer I've tested so far that I can work beside if need be.
It's hard to choose one over the other. The Ender will have a bigger user base and parts / upgrades are more readily available. But the bed levelling on the Anycubic is a nice feature to have out of the box. I've not compared them side by side but fan noise I imagine will be similar.

Well done such a comprehensive and very clear review. Thanks. I purchased the Ender 3 V2 3 weeks ago and despite trying absolutely every permutation have not achieved one print. I have 5 other printers so do have a fairly good understanding of the technology and the issues that can be apparent when levelling. However despite the efforts of a friend who also has some experience neither of us has managed to get the machine to play ball. Needless to say the Ender is being returned and in its place I have been researching the Anycubic Mega S and the Viper. Your review has been an enormous help and I am now almost ready to make my decision in favour of the Viper, unfortunately my negative experience of the Creality together with the very poor support has put me off even considering the brand again in the future and quite frankly I will be glad to see the back of it. Ideally I would love to buy a European machine like the Prusa but at the moment the price is the issue. The prices that come out of China are really difficult to beat and the quality can be pretty good with a small amount of tinkering, where the Prusa and such make up for it though is the support which by all means is excellent. The Chinese support Chanels can be extremely frustrating to say the least. !

Great review, I was looking at the Ender Pro V2, but despite your negatives, I think I'm going to go for this one. Think the auto leveling is a huge plus for me, and the easy removal bed.
@@doughboygaming2148 I just got one last week, and I am planning on returning it. Main issue is bed leveling nightmare (I know there's additional auto lever you could buy), but on mine bed doesn't stay leveled between prints, more so it seems to drift in middle of print (the spring knobs adjusting bed height are very lose and like to shift if you look at them too hard). Second problem is warped and unevenly heated bed (possibly warped due to very uneven heating, not sure). Outer edges of build plate are barely warm while center is very hot, causing serious warping issues on large parts. When it prints a long line on first layer - it looks like a wave some of it scratching the bp, some of it stringing... and yes I leveled the damn thing 1000 times by now. I am beginner so I am sure there are fixes to this, but in my opinion if you're buying Ender3 to print stuff, you're in for a lot of headache. It seems more oriented towards tinkerers/experts. Also manual is garbage, basically had to watch bunch of youtube videos on how to set it up. TLDR: It gave me nothing but frustration this far.
The 3D printer is about 3 years old and I still have doubts about its availability. First, In today's technology, linear rails have become widespread and I can buy a model like the ender 3 v3 ke for a similar price. However, I care about stable, expandable and long-term use. Which would be better? Secondly, the printing speed is a little slower than new printers. Do you think this is an important factor? Hi, nice review. I bought the early bird release model at a discount price. And I can see they have made some improvements already by the look of your machine. I had the problem with the strain gauge sensor. And now have it replaced with no hassle from anycubic. And Also had the extruder slipping, I added threadlocker as it keep coming loose. I’m pretty happy with it now. But the replacement part took 4 weeks to come, and there also was 24hr delay on reply even though only 4hr time difference in NZ I think they are on the right track with the design. Maybe v2 will be quieter and improve in build quality

I have had an Anycubic Vyper for just over a year, it is my first 3D printer and although I have had great results with a Cura slicer and PLA I can not find any info online for good PET guides for beginers, if you have any suggestions I would be so gratefull
I've received my Vyper a few days before. Previously I had a small Tronxy X-1 for 3 years (no heatbed, no auto-level, no filament sensor). Well, my feelings are mixed, and are in sync with your review. Since Tronxy was one of the cheapest option back then (~1/5 of Vyper) and multiple years have passed for technology improvement, I expected much greater difference between the two printer's performance. I'm kind of dissapointed... - With Tronxy the parts popped right off of raft, Vyper tends to fuse with it. - Tronxy displayed info during printing even with Octoprint, Vyper does not show any details only when printing from SD card. - Both are noisy as hell... :D However, Vyper's fan noise is loud only, steppers are hard to hear during print. With closed door it's nice even at next room. - By Tronxy, dimensional accuracy was way off in XY plane, that one is better with Vyper. - However, the same part with the same material tends to have strange blobs and stringing by Vyper. I hope it can be fine tuned, but as there are a lot of complaints on it, maybe Tronxy was superior in this too... I need more time to get familiar with it, and adjust it, but maybe it is not such a big hit...
Well, this was very well made review, thank you. I loved the comparison at the end with other printers as the tips to print as well. I have had Anycubic Mega about 4 years and thinking to update to Vyper. My old Mega prints well though. A bit loud if you sit next to it. I have to say that i have not ever had any problems with it so i assume this Vyper is as good. And thank you for the links to the cable clip and Dremel cut off saw etc.

Hi, thanks for the video, lot of knowledge here. I buy this printer this week and assembly is very easy, congrats for that. But still can't get good first layer and then next layers are badly shifted. Another one: do you or anyone got problems with SD card? It is very sensitive, once I touched it gently by accident and printing stopped and SD card disconnected. Is it SD slot issue or maybe should I buy other SD card?
I'd check the belts are tight. I didn't have issues with the SD card. Beyond that I'd suggest asking on the Anycubic FaceBook group or contact Anycubic.
PLEASE HELP I set up my printer went to print and it starts printing, says finished after 30 seconds, continues to print till it cools down till it can't print. Only way to stop ot is to turn the whole thing off please help I'm been at this for a week
You could find a local maker space but I'd try asking on the Anycubic Facebook group. 3D printers are modular and pretty easy to work on - so you may find you can fix it yourself with a little help.
I have mine set up butbi too am illiterate to computers and stuff..... What programs do i need to print off thingaverse? Or can i just save them on an SD and plug that in?
I've been seriously considering upgrading from my modded Ender 3 to this so this info is definitely handy. The ender 3 has a PEI magnetic bed, BLtouch, and upgraded 32 bit board but a lot of the other features on the Vyper seem to be really nice and tempting. Having a hard time figuring out if it's worth it for the larger build plate, all the extruder bonuses, the dual cooling fans, and dual Z lead screws. I know I can potentially add all of that to my Ender but the little issues with things like the BLtouch randomly throwing an error requiring a restart and manual pulling out of the plunger makes me wary of investing that much money into it. It seems better to just spend a similar amount overall to get the Vyper and avoid having to mess with wiring and such and risk damaging the whole printer. I sweated buckets just swapping the board so I'm not inclined to go through that for what is rapidly becoming standard features on beginner printers. So as a beginner/intermediate user my question is would you consider this worth the money to swap to? I tend to print in PLA or PETG for the most part though I've played with some TPU before and would like to print it more. The improved print speeds are also of interest as I tend to print larger models regularly and just use my photon for smaller more detailed ones.
I think if you've already added ABL to your Ender and a PEI magnetic bed - the Vyper won't offer much more. Those are the two features that I consider a useful upgrade. Personally I'd try and fix the ABL on the Ender. But if you're after a second printer that's another matter!
I've seen you been answering everyone with some advices and I just wanna say I'm admire your dedication very much! I'll be getting my vyper with the new black Friday deal, was thinking about getting the prusa mini, but the extra size for less the cost kinda seems like a bargain to me.

I do but hard for me to recommend. If you do make sure you're very familiar with the printer and watch the first few layers go down. I always have some remote monitoring to check on the print - and more recently Obico.
Thanks! I bought a Vyper about a month ago (Aug. 2022). For basic parts, I agree that the Vyper works "out of the box". This is my first 3D printer that I own, but I have lots of experience with the University's equipment. Some of the problems you discovered have been fixed by now (e.g., Cura profile). However, my parts are stringy. I ran the TempTower and RetracTower scripts in Cura and adjusted, but still have problems. I am using AnyCubic's cheap PLA so I don't draw any serious conclusions about the printer yet. I have problems with supports being very difficult to remove, but I think that is a profile problem, not the printer. I tried to print an articulated slug that failed miserably. The internal parts fused together (stringing likely). As you said, maybe there is no perfect printer for beginners unless beginners only print "beginner" parts. I have yet to try the clearance test!

Hi. Thank you for your review. Interested to see/hear an update now it's a year on and how this now compares both standing up in its own right re longevity and with other latest market offerings. I've seen this on offer now for around £280 and considering it for my first non resin 3D printer.
Have you tried removing the nozzle from the hotend on the Vyper? If you do it as explained by Anycubic. You will break the hottend mount and possibly damage other components around it. From what I understand you must completely remove the hotend before you try to take the nozzle out.

I am having a TON of issues with the Vyper. If anyone has one and can offer some help let me know. Been 9 hours of troubleshooting and still haven't gotten first print started.
I found with a bit of force the filament holder will snap in securely. Also I've been having trouble printing collapsible prints so that would be quite helpful

I'm really torn between this and the longer lk5.. having trouble locating a reviewer that has actually used both, so at this point i'm just watching vids on each separately. I've seen more info about good support regarding the vyper, so I might be leaning this way..
Hi, thank you for the video! I was wondering if the rail going up and down should be stiff while moving by hand? I just got my vyper today and is assembled. I’m scared to turn it on and straining motors if it’s unbalanced or something.
No problem! I wouldn't move the rail up and down by hand - you can rotate the lead screws to move the rail up abd down - but I wouldn't do that either! Just check there's no play with the print head, side rails and bed rails and go for it! Good luck!

Great Video i Love it i bought a vyper too now. I would be interested If the nozzle changed for a advanced one Like a plated hardened Steel one. If this would the vyper make more relailable with hard filaments Like glow in the dark.
Great glad you liked the video and I hope you enjoy the printer! Yes if you're going to use any more abrasive plastics he'll need another nozzle. Usually the filament manufacturer will specify the type of nozzle you need.

Very hard question. I'd probably say the Prusa Mini out of the printers I've tested. Only because of the 24 hour chat support. Having said that I had a lot of issues with the first Prusa Mini I was sent - and in comparison the Anycubic was up and printing pretty well within an hour or two.
I know as much about 3d printing as somebody who has been doing a lot of research the last few weeks and have used a resin printer a bunch in the past. Not to beat a dead horse but this seems about as good as an upgraded ender 5 pro correct? The ender 5 pro has so far been my top pick due to its popularity and community support and ability to mod it. But am thinking about getting this if it’s fairly intuitive and solid as is. Thanks for any one’s opinion and input.
I think the Prusa Mini is a good beginner printer - and I do plan to have a review up soon (long time coming!). But ironically my Mini was plagued with problems and eventually had to get swapped out. I've never had that with any other printer. But at least you can always speak with someone on chat ...
That's a tricky one! The MK3S+ is the printer I'll use to print more exotic materials like PC. And I prefer printing Flex with a direct drive printer like this too. I'll also install a larger 0.8mm nozzle sometimes for faster prints. But for PLA and PETG with a standard nozzle there's not much difference and the Anycubic's levelling system, so long as the strain gauge doesn't go faulty, makes levelling easier than on the MK3S+, where you still have to adjust the Z offset.

I've had a Robo R2 for about 5 years now, and was looking at the Ender V2, but really was going to miss the auto bed leveling. I purchased the Vyper based on this review and it arrives tomorrow. This was everything I needed to know, thank you! I'm looking around for a first printer and the cost/print-volume/low-maintenance trifecta here seems like a brilliant tradeoff for the software-tinkering and minor print quality issues. My priority is functional bits-n-bobs for electronics and DIY (connectors, adaptors, clamping jigs, parts storage tubs, etc.) so surface texture/stringing are non-issues as I'm really not fussed about aesthetics at all. Given that it's been almost a year now, are there any newcomers worth checking that beat the Vyper on ALL counts at the same or lower price point? If not then I think we have a winner... just as soon as I've cleared enough workbench space for it :)
The Ender S1 and S1 Pro perhaps - I've only tested the S1 Pro but it's more expensive than the Vyper. Also if you don't need the larger capacity the Prusa Mini is a good printer - but the price has gone up a bit. I'll always looking for the perfect 3D printer for newcomers to 3D printer so will keep testing!
Right, I checked out your S1 Pro review (also stellar btw) and the extra filament options are a big draw, soooo now I want that but with the Vyper bed for better heating and levelling, and Prusa firmware/interface/support... not too much to ask, is it? 😅 Oof, this is a dangerous rabbit hole to fall down. I'm already thinking about silent fan/PSU mods and I'm at least 3 months out from even having space to put the damn thing.
Is the bed and nozzle heated up when you do the auto bed levelling? Just try raising the Z offset in small increments - there isn't one setting that anyone can provide.
I'd suggest asking on the Vyper forum - very active and you'll get loads of help. If prints aren't sticking - lower Z offset and make sure bed is proper clean (use IPA or wash in soapy water - drying afterwards thoroughly).
Totally new to 3D printing and trying out my Anycubic Vyper. I appreciated the suggested first prints you discussed and the links in your description. I tried printing the hotend cable holder, but my print failed as the unsupported overhang doesn't print without supports. Should I be adding those, or do you have a video where you discuss how to print like this?
Still using my Anycubic i3 Mega, & it's proven to be a very reliable printer in it's stock form. Looking at this Vyper, but haven't worked out a real need for it yet.
The i3 Mega was my first printer and it worked flawless until I sold it, I want to get a 3d printer again and I'm wondering if I really need the extra features of the viper over the mega, the only one I cosider important is the build volume and if is more silent, because the mega it was a bit too loud.

The print quality and speed of my Anycubic Vyper are not exactly good. I noticed that with Linear Advance the bulges at the corners are less. The only problem is, Anycubic has not activated this feature. Can you help here? It should work with Pressure Advance too, but I haven't found a way with Windows yet. Whereby Pressure Advance should help the Vyper to improve quality and speed. Could you possibly make a video about these possibilities. Thanks in advance.
Without changing anything print quality is very similar to my other printers. I would try contacting Anycubic support. Or posting your issues on the Anycubic Facebook forum - very hard to advise without seeing pics.
@@Bosstechnic I’m using linear advance, and bulging cornea is a thing of the past. You will have to change the firmware in the motherboard and display... easy to do. And this is my very first printer. Will, from Studiozombie 3D youtube has it all layer out for you. and he has created the firmware himself. awesome guy. Look him up.

I'm trying to change the temp setting in the generic materials in Cura. For some reason after I make the change it goes back to it's defaults setting. Thanks for a great video
Sorry I missed this comment. Does it go back t settings when you print - is that what you mean? Have you changed both first layer and other layer temps?
@@TheTechnologyMan It just doesn’t save the settings you can close it and open it back up in the settings are the same kind of a nuisance. It took me a while to figure out how to get the sidebar to show up I had to download a plug-in a bunch of things back-and-forth. But I’ve got it I’d like to ask you another question if I may. Can you hook this directly to a computer without using raspberry pie not that I mind raspberry pie but it’s sitting right next to my computer. I’ve asked this on several format forms and have not gotten an answer
Yes you can - you could use something like Repetier or Cura (IIRC). The only reason people don't recommend it - is for long prints you might get a failure if Windows does an update or similar. I ran a Prusa Mini+ directly off my PC for a bit. I installed Octoprint on the PC (which a little fiddly), but it worked great. And I could monitor my prints remotely with an app like Octopod.
can you post the slicer settings so we can use them? i am interested in the retraction settings, my printer just arrived and want the best settings for my prints.
I get best results in Prusaslicer with Anycubic Mega settings and profiles (PLA, PETG) but if you prefer Cura use that - I'm sure you'll still be happy with the results! I have tweaked settings but honestly got pretty good results just using the defaults. As I do more testing I'll add any tweaked and tested profiles to my written article at thetechnologyman.com. Have fun with the printer!
It's a much easier printer to get started with but the Ender 3 V2 is cheaper and has larger community for support and upgrades. This printer is more in line with the Creality CR6 SE - both for features and cost.
@@TheTechnologyMan no, it's just something I see now and then while reading about this. I read somewhere that when extruded, it gives off chlorine, so it might be a bit hazardous.

Love mine. Going strong, though I've run into some print 'bending' on larger prints where one edge of the print bends upward for some reason. I'll get it figured out sometime, I hope!
Glad you're enjoying the printer. This warping can occur with larger prints. Try and ensure there aren't any drafts near the printer, perhaps raise the bed temp 10°, thoroughly clean the build plate first with IPA alcohol but even better in the sink with a light (white) scrubbing brush and some Fairy liquid.
I don't think auto bedleveling is such an important noob feature. leveling the bed is the easiest thing to do on any printer. Print adhesion is the thing that ruins it for begginers and you spent very little time on it.
I disagree. Ive struggled with bed leveling since day one with my Lulzbot. Ive even had experienced 3d printer people scratching their heads. I'm going with Vyper for that reason mainly.
I just got my Vyper which is my first 3D printer and had it set up and printing in 30 minute. I'm old and somewhat computer illiterate but this thing has been fairly easy to get up and running. The bed leveling and quietness were the main selling points for me and both have not disappointed.

Thank you Alex Chopra! Reliability (and support) is always a concern with 3D printers. I did test out their support and they seemed knowledgeable but a little slow to reply, and if they need to send parts they'll take a while to arrive by all accounts. Thanks for the video suggestion. Out of the printers I own - if I had the money I'd stick with the Prusa MK3S+ for a print farm. The Mini+ is pretty good now but had a lot of issues initially. Time will tell whether this printer would be an option. But will give it some more thought for a future video.

Front left IIRC - check the levelling session in the timestamps it should home at the end.

I have had my Vyper since they were first available ( i3MEGA prior to that). It has printed flawlessly right out of the box. I typically use IdeaMaker as my slicer.
re: NOISE. I did put a variable buck converter to the PSU fan. Tune to voltage to as acceptable air flow and noise level. BIG DIFFERNCE. Easy mod. Great review. Thanks.

Thanks! What file do you mean sorry? With regard to speed, try reducing the playback speed to 0.75x - UA-cam does a good job on this. And you can enable captions - I have full transcripts for every video - you can enable auto-translate to French. Hope that helps.

People kept telling me my printer was clogged and whatnot, but then I saw this video talking about this and I checked, and it was indeed loose causing very bad print quality. Bed leveling is definitely a cause of frustration for beginners, but realistically, it gets even worse with experience! The more you level beds, the more you wish the process was automated. Hopefully no-maintenance, hands-free leveling like this will become increasingly standard in printers. Thank Anycubic and soon Prusa for leading the industry towards that goal.

If you don't need the extra volume and have the extra money the Prusa Mini is pretty good - more for the built in profiles in Prusa Slicer and the 24 hour chat support - I get similar quality from both. I did have a lot of problems with my first Mini though and ended up with another one, so still struggle to recommend it outright!
Hello! Some things are a bit superficial ... Ender 3 V2 has no touchscreen. Vyper has built in TMC 2209 drivers but they are not supported as such by the motherboard, so useless. You have a modified version of Vyper in front of you, recognizable by the flat Z-Stop switches, modified hotend and plug on it. The first versions were very vulnerable, the newer ones hopefully not. That's right they did make a few changes after they released this printer initially. Well spotted on the Ender 3 V2 - I only have the Ender 3. I quite like the dial personally!
My son bought an Ender 3 and I later bought an Ender 5. I bought us both a Big Tree Tech main board which is a vast improvement in noise as it can control the stepper motors better and we installed BL Touches which work just fine. All printers should have automatic bed leveling and be as quiet as possible in my opinion. Thanks for your review...
Sounds like some great upgrades. Noise is a big issue I agree - I think 3D printers are generally nosier than people expect - even one with quiet steppers. The Prusa Mini is the only printer I've tested so far that I can work beside if need be.

It's hard to choose one over the other. The Ender will have a bigger user base and parts / upgrades are more readily available. But the bed levelling on the Anycubic is a nice feature to have out of the box. I've not compared them side by side but fan noise I imagine will be similar.

Well done such a comprehensive and very clear review. Thanks. I purchased the Ender 3 V2 3 weeks ago and despite trying absolutely every permutation have not achieved one print. I have 5 other printers so do have a fairly good understanding of the technology and the issues that can be apparent when levelling. However despite the efforts of a friend who also has some experience neither of us has managed to get the machine to play ball. Needless to say the Ender is being returned and in its place I have been researching the Anycubic Mega S and the Viper. Your review has been an enormous help and I am now almost ready to make my decision in favour of the Viper, unfortunately my negative experience of the Creality together with the very poor support has put me off even considering the brand again in the future and quite frankly I will be glad to see the back of it. Ideally I would love to buy a European machine like the Prusa but at the moment the price is the issue. The prices that come out of China are really difficult to beat and the quality can be pretty good with a small amount of tinkering, where the Prusa and such make up for it though is the support which by all means is excellent. The Chinese support Chanels can be extremely frustrating to say the least. !

@@doughboygaming2148 I just got one last week, and I am planning on returning it. Main issue is bed leveling nightmare (I know there's additional auto lever you could buy), but on mine bed doesn't stay leveled between prints, more so it seems to drift in middle of print (the spring knobs adjusting bed height are very lose and like to shift if you look at them too hard). Second problem is warped and unevenly heated bed (possibly warped due to very uneven heating, not sure). Outer edges of build plate are barely warm while center is very hot, causing serious warping issues on large parts. When it prints a long line on first layer - it looks like a wave some of it scratching the bp, some of it stringing... and yes I leveled the damn thing 1000 times by now. I am beginner so I am sure there are fixes to this, but in my opinion if you're buying Ender3 to print stuff, you're in for a lot of headache. It seems more oriented towards tinkerers/experts. Also manual is garbage, basically had to watch bunch of youtube videos on how to set it up.
TLDR: It gave me nothing but frustration this far.

The 3D printer is about 3 years old and I still have doubts about its availability.
First, In today's technology, linear rails have become widespread and I can buy a model like the ender 3 v3 ke for a similar price. However, I care about stable, expandable and long-term use. Which would be better?
Secondly, the printing speed is a little slower than new printers. Do you think this is an important factor?
And finally, Have the slicer updates you mentioned in the video arrived?

Hi, nice review. I bought the early bird release model at a discount price. And I can see they have made some improvements already by the look of your machine.
I had the problem with the strain gauge sensor. And now have it replaced with no hassle from anycubic. And Also had the extruder slipping, I added threadlocker as it keep coming loose.
I’m pretty happy with it now. But the replacement part took 4 weeks to come, and there also was 24hr delay on reply even though only 4hr time difference in NZ
I think they are on the right track with the design. Maybe v2 will be quieter and improve in build quality

I have had an Anycubic Vyper for just over a year, it is my first 3D printer and although I have had great results with a Cura slicer and PLA I can not find any info online for good PET guides for beginers, if you have any suggestions I would be so gratefull

I've received my Vyper a few days before. Previously I had a small Tronxy X-1 for 3 years (no heatbed, no auto-level, no filament sensor). Well, my feelings are mixed, and are in sync with your review.
Since Tronxy was one of the cheapest option back then (~1/5 of Vyper) and multiple years have passed for technology improvement, I expected much greater difference between the two printer's performance. I'm kind of dissapointed...
- With Tronxy the parts popped right off of raft, Vyper tends to fuse with it.
- Tronxy displayed info during printing even with Octoprint, Vyper does not show any details only when printing from SD card.
- Both are noisy as hell... :D However, Vyper's fan noise is loud only, steppers are hard to hear during print. With closed door it's nice even at next room.
- By Tronxy, dimensional accuracy was way off in XY plane, that one is better with Vyper.
- However, the same part with the same material tends to have strange blobs and stringing by Vyper. I hope it can be fine tuned, but as there are a lot of complaints on it, maybe Tronxy was superior in this too...
I need more time to get familiar with it, and adjust it, but maybe it is not such a big hit...
I think most 3D printers need some tinkering to get the best results - but I'm sure in time you'll have the Vyper singing!
Well, this was very well made review, thank you. I loved the comparison at the end with other printers as the tips to print as well. I have had Anycubic Mega about 4 years and thinking to update to Vyper. My old Mega prints well though. A bit loud if you sit next to it. I have to say that i have not ever had any problems with it so i assume this Vyper is as good. And thank you for the links to the cable clip and Dremel cut off saw etc.

Hi, thanks for the video, lot of knowledge here. I buy this printer this week and assembly is very easy, congrats for that. But still can't get good first layer and then next layers are badly shifted. Another one: do you or anyone got problems with SD card? It is very sensitive, once I touched it gently by accident and printing stopped and SD card disconnected. Is it SD slot issue or maybe should I buy other SD card?
I'd check the belts are tight. I didn't have issues with the SD card. Beyond that I'd suggest asking on the Anycubic FaceBook group or contact Anycubic.
PLEASE HELP I set up my printer went to print and it starts printing, says finished after 30 seconds, continues to print till it cools down till it can't print. Only way to stop ot is to turn the whole thing off please help I'm been at this for a week

You could find a local maker space but I'd try asking on the Anycubic Facebook group. 3D printers are modular and pretty easy to work on - so you may find you can fix it yourself with a little help.

You need to check your region - in the UK it's 220-240V. Don't turn on before checking the voltage in your area!

I don't have control over how many ads UA-cam inserts - I can only control whether there are ads or not.

I've been seriously considering upgrading from my modded Ender 3 to this so this info is definitely handy. The ender 3 has a PEI magnetic bed, BLtouch, and upgraded 32 bit board but a lot of the other features on the Vyper seem to be really nice and tempting. Having a hard time figuring out if it's worth it for the larger build plate, all the extruder bonuses, the dual cooling fans, and dual Z lead screws. I know I can potentially add all of that to my Ender but the little issues with things like the BLtouch randomly throwing an error requiring a restart and manual pulling out of the plunger makes me wary of investing that much money into it. It seems better to just spend a similar amount overall to get the Vyper and avoid having to mess with wiring and such and risk damaging the whole printer. I sweated buckets just swapping the board so I'm not inclined to go through that for what is rapidly becoming standard features on beginner printers.
So as a beginner/intermediate user my question is would you consider this worth the money to swap to? I tend to print in PLA or PETG for the most part though I've played with some TPU before and would like to print it more. The improved print speeds are also of interest as I tend to print larger models regularly and just use my photon for smaller more detailed ones.
I think if you've already added ABL to your Ender and a PEI magnetic bed - the Vyper won't offer much more. Those are the two features that I consider a useful upgrade. Personally I'd try and fix the ABL on the Ender. But if you're after a second printer that's another matter!
I've seen you been answering everyone with some advices and I just wanna say I'm admire your dedication very much! I'll be getting my vyper with the new black Friday deal, was thinking about getting the prusa mini, but the extra size for less the cost kinda seems like a bargain to me.

I do but hard for me to recommend. If you do make sure you're very familiar with the printer and watch the first few layers go down. I always have some remote monitoring to check on the print - and more recently Obico.

Thanks! I bought a Vyper about a month ago (Aug. 2022). For basic parts, I agree that the Vyper works "out of the box". This is my first 3D printer that I own, but I have lots of experience with the University's equipment. Some of the problems you discovered have been fixed by now (e.g., Cura profile). However, my parts are stringy. I ran the TempTower and RetracTower scripts in Cura and adjusted, but still have problems. I am using AnyCubic's cheap PLA so I don't draw any serious conclusions about the printer yet. I have problems with supports being very difficult to remove, but I think that is a profile problem, not the printer. I tried to print an articulated slug that failed miserably. The internal parts fused together (stringing likely). As you said, maybe there is no perfect printer for beginners unless beginners only print "beginner" parts. I have yet to try the clearance test!
I'd definately try some other filament. And make sure the filament is dry - even PLA is stringy if wet.
Ender 3 v2 does NOT have touch screen but this one has ALL the upgrades already that the ENDER 3v2 needs out of the box! I would recommend this one !

Have you tried removing the nozzle from the hotend on the Vyper?
If you do it as explained by Anycubic. You will break the hottend mount and possibly damage other components around it.
From what I understand you must completely remove the hotend before you try to take the nozzle out.
Yes - you just need to make sure you heat up the nozzle to a high temp and keep the heater block secure while you loosen the nozzle.

I am having a TON of issues with the Vyper. If anyone has one and can offer some help let me know. Been 9 hours of troubleshooting and still haven't gotten first print started.

I found with a bit of force the filament holder will snap in securely. Also I've been having trouble printing collapsible prints so that would be quite helpful

Hi, thank you for the video! I was wondering if the rail going up and down should be stiff while moving by hand? I just got my vyper today and is assembled. I’m scared to turn it on and straining motors if it’s unbalanced or something.
No problem! I wouldn't move the rail up and down by hand - you can rotate the lead screws to move the rail up abd down - but I wouldn't do that either! Just check there's no play with the print head, side rails and bed rails and go for it! Good luck!

I would be interested If the nozzle changed for a advanced one Like a plated hardened Steel one. If this would the vyper make more relailable with hard filaments Like glow in the dark.

This printer uses the nozzle itself to level the bed - which does makes levelling a little easier. But you'll still need to adjust the Z-offset.

Very hard question. I'd probably say the Prusa Mini out of the printers I've tested. Only because of the 24 hour chat support. Having said that I had a lot of issues with the first Prusa Mini I was sent - and in comparison the Anycubic was up and printing pretty well within an hour or two.

I know as much about 3d printing as somebody who has been doing a lot of research the last few weeks and have used a resin printer a bunch in the past.
Not to beat a dead horse but this seems about as good as an upgraded ender 5 pro correct? The ender 5 pro has so far been my top pick due to its popularity and community support and ability to mod it. But am thinking about getting this if it’s fairly intuitive and solid as is. Thanks for any one’s opinion and input.

Want a perfect beginner printer? Get a Prusa mini. All the other beginner printers have various problems.
I think the Prusa Mini is a good beginner printer - and I do plan to have a review up soon (long time coming!). But ironically my Mini was plagued with problems and eventually had to get swapped out. I've never had that with any other printer. But at least you can always speak with someone on chat ...

That's a tricky one! The MK3S+ is the printer I'll use to print more exotic materials like PC. And I prefer printing Flex with a direct drive printer like this too. I'll also install a larger 0.8mm nozzle sometimes for faster prints. But for PLA and PETG with a standard nozzle there's not much difference and the Anycubic's levelling system, so long as the strain gauge doesn't go faulty, makes levelling easier than on the MK3S+, where you still have to adjust the Z offset.

I've had a Robo R2 for about 5 years now, and was looking at the Ender V2, but really was going to miss the auto bed leveling. I purchased the Vyper based on this review and it arrives tomorrow. What temperature do you suggest for pla for the nozzle and bed?

This was everything I needed to know, thank you! I'm looking around for a first printer and the cost/print-volume/low-maintenance trifecta here seems like a brilliant tradeoff for the software-tinkering and minor print quality issues. My priority is functional bits-n-bobs for electronics and DIY (connectors, adaptors, clamping jigs, parts storage tubs, etc.) so surface texture/stringing are non-issues as I'm really not fussed about aesthetics at all.
Given that it's been almost a year now, are there any newcomers worth checking that beat the Vyper on ALL counts at the same or lower price point? If not then I think we have a winner... just as soon as I've cleared enough workbench space for it :)
The Ender S1 and S1 Pro perhaps - I've only tested the S1 Pro but it's more expensive than the Vyper. Also if you don't need the larger capacity the Prusa Mini is a good printer - but the price has gone up a bit. I'll always looking for the perfect 3D printer for newcomers to 3D printer so will keep testing!
Right, I checked out your S1 Pro review (also stellar btw) and the extra filament options are a big draw, soooo now I want that but with the Vyper bed for better heating and levelling, and Prusa firmware/interface/support... not too much to ask, is it? 😅
Oof, this is a dangerous rabbit hole to fall down. I'm already thinking about silent fan/PSU mods and I'm at least 3 months out from even having space to put the damn thing.

Is the bed and nozzle heated up when you do the auto bed levelling? Just try raising the Z offset in small increments - there isn't one setting that anyone can provide.

I'd suggest asking on the Vyper forum - very active and you'll get loads of help. If prints aren't sticking - lower Z offset and make sure bed is proper clean (use IPA or wash in soapy water - drying afterwards thoroughly).

Totally new to 3D printing and trying out my Anycubic Vyper. I appreciated the suggested first prints you discussed and the links in your description. I tried printing the hotend cable holder, but my print failed as the unsupported overhang doesn't print without supports. Should I be adding those, or do you have a video where you discuss how to print like this?
Nevermind. Figured out I can rotate it 90 degrees in Cura to eliminate the overhang. Learning as I go!

Still using my Anycubic i3 Mega, & it's proven to be a very reliable printer in it's stock form. Looking at this Vyper, but haven't worked out a real need for it yet.
With 3D printing if you have something that works well for you I'd stick with it! If you need a second printer that's another matter 😉 ...
The i3 Mega was my first printer and it worked flawless until I sold it, I want to get a 3d printer again and I'm wondering if I really need the extra features of the viper over the mega, the only one I cosider important is the build volume and if is more silent, because the mega it was a bit too loud.

The print quality and speed of my Anycubic Vyper are not exactly good. I noticed that with Linear Advance the bulges at the corners are less. The only problem is, Anycubic has not activated this feature. Can you help here? It should work with Pressure Advance too, but I haven't found a way with Windows yet. Whereby Pressure Advance should help the Vyper to improve quality and speed. Could you possibly make a video about these possibilities. Thanks in advance.
Without changing anything print quality is very similar to my other printers. I would try contacting Anycubic support. Or posting your issues on the Anycubic Facebook forum - very hard to advise without seeing pics.

@@Bosstechnic I’m using linear advance, and bulging cornea is a thing of the past. You will have to change the firmware in the motherboard and display... easy to do. And this is my very first printer. Will, from Studiozombie 3D youtube has it all layer out for you. and he has created the firmware himself. awesome guy. Look him up.

I haven't had that issue - perhaps contact Anycubic and get them to send you the latest firmware.

Sorry I missed this comment. Does it go back t settings when you print - is that what you mean? Have you changed both first layer and other layer temps?
@@TheTechnologyMan It just doesn’t save the settings you can close it and open it back up in the settings are the same kind of a nuisance. It took me a while to figure out how to get the sidebar to show up I had to download a plug-in a bunch of things back-and-forth. But I’ve got it I’d like to ask you another question if I may. Can you hook this directly to a computer without using raspberry pie not that I mind raspberry pie but it’s sitting right next to my computer. I’ve asked this on several format forms and have not gotten an answer
Yes you can - you could use something like Repetier or Cura (IIRC). The only reason people don't recommend it - is for long prints you might get a failure if Windows does an update or similar. I ran a Prusa Mini+ directly off my PC for a bit. I installed Octoprint on the PC (which a little fiddly), but it worked great. And I could monitor my prints remotely with an app like Octopod.

can you post the slicer settings so we can use them? i am interested in the retraction settings, my printer just arrived and want the best settings for my prints.
I get best results in Prusaslicer with Anycubic Mega settings and profiles (PLA, PETG) but if you prefer Cura use that - I'm sure you'll still be happy with the results! I have tweaked settings but honestly got pretty good results just using the defaults. As I do more testing I'll add any tweaked and tested profiles to my written article at thetechnologyman.com. Have fun with the printer!

It's a much easier printer to get started with but the Ender 3 V2 is cheaper and has larger community for support and upgrades. This printer is more in line with the Creality CR6 SE - both for features and cost.
Get this I have a v2 still can’t get it leveled and this has all the upgrades you are gonna get for the v2 already on it

Love mine. Going strong, though I've run into some print 'bending' on larger prints where one edge of the print bends upward for some reason. I'll get it figured out sometime, I hope!
Glad you're enjoying the printer. This warping can occur with larger prints. Try and ensure there aren't any drafts near the printer, perhaps raise the bed temp 10°, thoroughly clean the build plate first with IPA alcohol but even better in the sink with a light (white) scrubbing brush and some Fairy liquid.

I don't think auto bedleveling is such an important noob feature. leveling the bed is the easiest thing to do on any printer. Print adhesion is the thing that ruins it for begginers and you spent very little time on it.
I find print adhesion pretty good on the removeable build plate. I cover manual bed levelling in detail in my Ender 3 review.
I disagree. Ive struggled with bed leveling since day one with my Lulzbot. Ive even had experienced 3d printer people scratching their heads. I'm going with Vyper for that reason mainly.
