    Considering this is something that is supposed to be cleaned every 6 months they should have designed this much much easier to remove, clean and reinstalll.

      Seriously. That shroud needs to come off from the front. Then just a socket to remove the bold and pull the cage down. It is nuts to have to pull the whole thing down, and then disassemble it just to pull that cage out the back! It just can't be cleaned in place.

    very good video! I have never understood why fan manufacturers don't make it easier to remove just the squirrel cage for cleaning.

    Just cleaned mine and the video was most helpful. Getting the fan out was easy. Reinstalling was rather difficult getting the three screws aligned in blind holes. Have a very bright light and position the latter just right and it works. Get an 8” or longer screw driver..

    Great video on how to get the fan & motor assembly out. Before I found this video I called the Panasonic parts dept. and ordered a new fan - under $9, so I just replaced it.

    Thank you so much for this video. This morning my two year old fan would start running them stop after a minute or so with a growling noise. Spent over an hour trying to brush and vacuum while it was up in the ceiling. Not fun. Still has an issue but at least now I know how to remove it from the ceiling. Most importantly I am relieved to know that if I purchase an entire new unit, I won't have to go in the attic and replace the entire housing, etc. Thanks again.

    Thanks for the video. The Panasonic diagram showed only 2 screws holding the fan assembly to the housing so when I couldn't get it loose I found the answer on your video.

    I cleaned my fan & cowl assembly by letting it soak in a bucket filled with hot water and a dishwasher tablet. Swished it around a bit and all of the gunk fell off or sprayed off. No brush needed.

    Air sealing between the fan case and drywall will decrease the amount of dust and crud that gets sucked into the fan. Use expanding spray foam or caulk, as appropriate for the gap size.

    Thanks for the great info. Can you remove the 12mm nut on the fan and pull out without removing the whole assembly?

    • @jasonfunk6803
      @jasonfunk6803  14 днів тому

      We all wish it was that easy! Yes you can remove the 12mm nut without taking out the assembly, however there is not enough room to take the squirrel cage through the opening.... the opening should have been made larger then the squirrel cage...Panasonic... are you listening...???.

    Thanks! I was missing the 3rd screw to remove. It looked like it was just in the metal back, and I though that was just part of the housing...duh.

    Why take the back off if you could just unscrew the bolt to release the squirrel cage after you remove the front cover ?

    • @jmlynd
      @jmlynd 11 місяців тому +2

      The squirrel cage is enclosed by the housing. Won't just drop down, so you have to take it out from the back. Great design.

    Thank you for osting this, as I have tried a few times to figure this out to no avail since it is absurdly designed for easy removal for cleaning; ugh!

    Good video, but too much trouble. I just get a toothbrush and vacuum and get it the best I can. Still a pain for an older person. Should have an easy remove fan.

    Two of the screws were easy to remove, but the third screw up high, is so tight that when I try to remove it the head of the soft screw is stripping. Any suggestions on how to remove the screw?

    Thank you for making and posting this video. Have you ever considered and/or tried using an air compressor to clean this (post removal, obviously)? Just wondering if you had any success/tips/tricks there. Thank you, again!

    Air compressor would make this easier. No need to take it all apart just hold the fan still and blast it with air to clear the dust

    Just my luck, the third screw to remove the housing, the one which is recessed, is stripped.

    Not sure why the blower wheel wouldn’t come out much easier. Good video and information but a bad design.
