- Another "Moving Pictures" favorite...I think I might play all the songs on that album. I borrowed an HD camcorder from a friend and WOW! I'm definitely upgrading to HD. The onboard microphone on this camcorder captured great audio, so I was able to get a better mix. Anyway, enjoy! 2112 next!
PS. PLEASE WATCH MY "NATURAL SCIENCE" VIDEO I'M ALMOST AT 100,000 VIEWS!
Superb drumming -brilliant! Sure, the odd fluff, but you could run HUGE circles around my playing. And yes, I hold Peart in the highest esteem.
Muito irmão, só um breve, entre o 2:59 e 3:00 a passada não é do Tom para a caixa? vc fez a virada toda no tom. Mas no geral está bem legal, parabéns.
awesome man you made this song your bitch...is that a full set of paragon's? im assuming they are and if so the china on the far right, what size is that? wondering if it comes in different sizes as I had heard a paragon china sounding better than almost any china ive heard, would appreciate the info thnx a bunch
This was ok but the tempo was off a bit and more of Neil's drums could be heard.
Excellent, I'm sure Pratt would agree!!!!
I just answered you on your "closer To The Heart" video BTW, did you see my HD post of this song?
amazing cover. i think your kit is beautiful!
Yes thats what I do, except with Sony Vegas Pro. Experiment with a good mix between your drumming and the original song. Also, make sure you put the same version of the song that your lisening to on your iPod in the editing software.
Great job Ray -- as always. The HD does look good. Unfortunately, that'll have to wait for another day for me. If I watch anymore of these vids, I'm going to get inspired again and start doing my own. Oh no!!!
@mandalay71 I can't wait either! San Francisco, Shoreline Amphitheater, 12th row Alex's side!
I attempted playing this on my son's drum kit (I'm a guitar player) and it sounded ridiculously bad. I just love this song so much, it's my fav off of MP and top 5 Rush song.
Well, Ray. What can I say.
Once again you blow me away.
Wow. I was a poet and I didn't realize it. I better write that shit down. Oh, nevermind. Just did.
I really dig that visual fade out. And all that drummy stuff before that.
Neils so fast. 🖐️
Nice work. I've seen other drum covers of this song but most have 2+ the hardware you have to pull it off. But I like yours even better. You make the most of what you got for sure. Again, nice work.
It sounds like you played over the original drum track.
I can hear Peart's drums in the song while you play along...tell me if I'm wrong.
SICK! I STARTED PLAYING A 5 PIECE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO!!!! 29 AND A HALF YEARS, ILL BE WHERE U ARE!! :)
OH YEAH, YOU MURDERED IT!!!! BIG UPS FROM VA!! HOLLA!
Great song, great LP.
LOL did you the the HD version of this? (it's the same video).....hi
Why do you not play the cymbal starting at 1:00. Neil plays cymbal up to the chorus.
Neil Peart is a genius. amazing lyrics, not to mention insane drumming. The drum fill at 4:09 is so sick. love this song.
great job ray! i've been watching your videos for a while, i've noticed you've gotten yourself a new drum set. expensive aren't they? i've got 5k in mine. your playing much better now, not that you were bad before, but having ALL the drums make playing certain songs much easier.
Ray, Great sound on this cam! Sounds like your using microphones! I love your kit man,, how much did it cost you? One more question; How do you like that piccolo tom? I've been thinking about getting one,, im not sure. But definitely upgrade to HD!
When are we gonna hear a comment from Neil? I'd bet he'd have you up to his "shop" in Toronto for a visit.
Awesome!
You should make a Rush tribute band with snowdoguk!
hey dude! awesome drumming! wow!!
just one thing though! why you got the exact same set up as neil? would you not rather find your own set up and gain some originality!
awesome cover again!
a science magazine i read says that drummers are naturally smarter and more coordinated than average people, because we have more fatty tissue in our brain so we can hold constant motions and whatnot.
What kind of camera are you using? cause i'd like to use that for mine. cause i really need that. cause my camera really messes up my drum sound. and also, Would you considerate redoing "Natural Science"?
dude!! great work man!! really fun watching you beat on those things...to my [possibly] favorite RUSH songs, of all time....so far....hahaha thanks for posting, mate, cheers!!!
Its the same as using a computer keyboard or a game controller. Once you know where everything is and are use to it, you are bound to work fast with it and even develop your own methods.
Hey nice video ray. Just wondering, as a drummer my self, how did you get the music to come out through your head phones and at the same time we can here it through the video here?
@rays2112
BTW, Isn't Vital Signs such a fun song to play. I always enjoyed it so much. Mostly the second verse.
It will be nice to hear it again on this tour.
Best.
What a great job! Can't wait to hear this on tour( Sarnia,Canada VIP tix, Philly, 4th row center, Allentown,PA 3rd row Alex's side)
It seems so bizarre to watch one of your videos and not see any blue on the ride :P
please respond is that a picolo tom on the far left because i am thinkin about buyin one and where did you get your kit
Agreed, although Permanent Waves is a very tight album, it would be a tough choice!:)
Nice drumming again Ray 5/5*****!
Oh yeah i did, and it was awesome. I always watch in high quality/hd with you. Great picture, and awesome sound.
Absolutely, That would be my choice too. Thanks!
Alright, thank you Ray. Appricate the suggestion, and appricate all the rush videos. Can't wait for 2112.
a whoopsie at 0:37 but this is a very complex song to master with all the transitions, well done
@tarikghi Yep, I've since corrected that habit
how did that roto sound like a snare @1:42-1:45 then go back to a roto earlier and later in song?
great job man and it was awesome how you couldnt help but to get right into it at the end.
If I don't know I would think peart was playing. dude you influence me and I play guitar.
Very impressive Ray! The last minute is right on point! Cheers, I'll drink to that!
I know this is kind of a "Newbish" question..
But what kind of Drumheads are those?
Awesome job man! Just incredible!!!
DUDE! NICE WORK!

Wait never mind, i see 2112 posted. well thank you for that one.
Are you in a Rush tribute band? Because you own as Neil Peart.
@DaveRox511 Thanks man!!
Great job again Ray.
Hopefully this one won't "dissapear."
Very nice!! Enjoyed watching this one!
Take care,
Jeff

EXCELLENT.....you have GREAT TALENT
Thanks man!
Thanks man!
I am so jealous of your drum kit! What is it, Pearl? DW?
I love that song and you do it justice. Fabulous!

Interesting angle. Love it.
bad ass bro.......thats some good jamming
Excellent man! great job!!
messed up on high hat 0:37
very nice.like the camera angel
Thanks a lot Man, but don't ever quit! I feel the same way whenever I hear Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Smith, Simon Phillips, Dennis Chambers, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham...Um, BUDDY RICH! Anyway, the list goes on. But, even after all these years of playing, These Greats still motivate me to PICK UP my sticks and get better.
@Yngwie2112Matarrese Sounds good to me...
blimey, that was awsome!
Ass Kickin. Good video, behind the kit.
gotta say your new kit sounds fantastic
@tarikghi Yeah, I love the 2nd verse! I also like the "bridge" that follows the 2nd verse...It has a "now were rocking" feel too it!
Awesome job! My absolute favorite song by Rush...
Brad Dunn same
@yoshi1995 The main thing I like about the "TFE-present" set-up is the ride cymbal placement...as far as the toms, it takes some getting used to, but now for me it feels natural
I like it, congratulations, good job
Spot on!You ROCK!!
Thanks man, I'm not in a Rush tribute band right now (I was) I want to form one here on UA-cam.
well alright thank you very much.
I don't think anyone at the Grammies can even play this except Dave grohl. You are a true musician. I'm listening to this with Grammies on mute, I want some good music, not 2016 crap.
Keep your pinky's on the sticks.
Very nice work man. Keep it up.
FUCKIN AWESOME!!!
Nice kit.
Loved it....good job Ray!!!!
Dude, you are the real deal!
Nailed it, sound, accent, energy, note for note. Great tribute to the greatest there was and ever will be.
well done sir.....
Outstanding.
Where's YOUR drum cover?
why are u soo cool? XD
MANNNNN. the best.
Very very nice bro!!!
Great.....Enough said
wow this is freaking AWESOME!
Great drumming Ray
I think this is Neil. His body motions etc... look just like Neil.
I woke up with this tune in my head, had to hear it. Stumbled upon this video as my choice. Great job! Awesome tune! !
