I just purchased this one recently. I wish I would have bought a year ago when the price was lower, but $3900 was what I got mine for. I'm glad you (and another commenter below) mentioned the wobble, as that had me a bit nervous also, and that's the one thing I watched this for. I bought mine mostly as a storage lift, but definitely see the potential for other uses when necessary. I had mine installed, and they also recommended to leave out the plastic drip shields. I have a few older cars that have a few drips, so I've just tossed them on the floor underneath instead. Thanks for the video!
I have the 9K version of this and am getting this same 8K tommorow. A tip on assembly: when I was inserting the crossbeams into the posts I layed them down just like you did. Then I put blocks under the crossbeam and slid the posts onto it instead of the other way around. You can do them one at a time and they're much easier/lighter to handle than the crossbeam. I put carboard under the foot of the posts so they could slide on the concrete easier when sliding it onto the crossbeam.
@@Dadhustle Yes, I would do it again. I did an adjustment for some stretching of the cables. The safety locks hit slightly differently. A tape measure and a few turns on the cable nuts addressed the problem. I’ve used the lift for repairs way more than I intended. I have dropped a couple fuel tanks to get at other systems. Before the lift I would have paid someone because of the hassle. With the lift you can get another person under there and make some of those jobs much easier.
Had mine over a year. I'm pretty disappointed in the four caster roller system to move these. Yea, you can look on-line and see folks pushing these around but it reality nine settles to less than 3/16 off the floor. The pegs on the poles (for jacking) should have been welded about 1/2 lower. So if you have an uneven garage floor or even sloped floor you are in for a surprise. That is about the only thing I am unsatisfied with on the Tuxedo 8K lift I have.
I have only used the casters the one time but I think you’re right. If I rolled this outside it would be problematic to get it back in over the transition. Other than adjusting the lift to address some stretch of the cables it’s been working well for me.
10’8”. I just bought a used truck for plowing snow. When I got it from the auction I noticed it needed a transmission service. I smiled all the way home knowing I wouldn’t be laying under it covered in ATF. Best wishes on your assembly!
@@Dastardly_X would be nice to go full height with a truck on but 10 feet isn’t a problem. My kids bought me a rolling shop stool. I can lift it enough to easily move around under the truck. The stool is one way to do finer work by dropping the truck to a comfortable height. Instead of servicing the transmission hunched over, I’ll set it up at stool height so it is just above my head.
Thanks for taking the time to do a nice review. I just assembled mine this weekend, & my only observation was it seemed to move left to right more than i expected. Hoping it becomes more rigid once its loaded so i can avoid using the anchors. Any concerns initially on your part?
It did wobble a bit when the cables took up the slack. It made me nervous too. I adjusted the play so the ramps were synchronized. Once a car was on and the weight was dropped to the safety catches life was good. Best wishes on your purchase and thank you for watching!
My garage is 10’ 6” I have a 58” car and a 60” car do you think i can stack them ? How tall is the base the car sits on ? 4.8” I think it said in the manual? If I only have to add 4.8” for the lift it’s sitting on and 2” between the roof of the car and bottom of the other car and 2” between the ceiling I should have just enough
I went out and took a few measurements for you. The ramps on my lift are more like 4 3/8 inches. Based on your measurements it looks like you have a little over 3.5 inches of wiggle room. The problem I think you will run into is that the safety catches and the desired lift height will have to be carefully calculated and executed. 1. You are lifting the ramps past an adjustable safety stop on each post. Looks like the stops have 3 inches of adjustment possible. 2. At the lower end of the travel there is a stop at about 58 inches. Meaning I have several inches of adjustment to raise that stop height. 3. In order to release the safeties, you have to lift the top car high enough out of the stops so they are free. Meaning you should leave several inches of lift height. 4. You might be limited on which car goes on top and below based on how you can adjust the stops. I would call support, run all your measurements by them, and ask for an opinion. My experience calling was really positive. The person I spoke with knew the lift inside and out. Another option would be to respond to some of the other commenters here. A few have mentioned height limitations and they might be able to offer some additional thoughts.
I recently purchased the same lift you have and i was wondering if you have noticed the runways deflecting any with the weight of a car on it? I measured mine and with a 3,500 pound car on it the runways flex downward 5/8". Just trying to see if anyone else has this same problem or if its normal.
@growntogether9913 OK thanks and if you don't mind letting me know how that turns out would be great. How I noticed it was I was looking down the length of the runways on the underside and saw a slight bow in them so then I decided to measure them.
Hoping you can answer a question regarding installation of a lift like yours. I have all the corners plumber the rails are level. Can’t get the lift to go down and when it does the entrance side drops a little and the front side hangs up, the cable are lose. Do you think its the cable lengths not being adjusted? If not maybe you can help me figure this out? Thanks in Advance Dave
Make sure your releases are all being engaged. This is the first thing I would check. Second, is the post farthest from the pump hanging up? If so, put weight on the lift and see if that fixes the problem. I have been told this is common in light duty 4 post lifts. Mine did it too. Once I put a few hundred pounds on the end that hung up it worked fine. With a vehicle on didn’t hang up.
@@growntogether9913 thank you for the response, the releases are all engaged, Second the post furthest from the pump is hanging up I’ll try that. I only weigh 176 hope that’s enough. What I need is to get the lift down and put a car on it up and down a few times should fix it. Chinese junk who knew?? Thanks Dave
Hi, just looked it up on HD’s app says it’s $3900 🤦♂️. Guess it jumped in price a lot like everything has. Unless I am missing something. Anyone have a link to the $2700 lift ? $3900 seems like a lot for a off brand.
It looks like prices are up right now. The tuxedo lift at Northern Tool is $3200. Perhaps prices will drop? Hard to get a lot of maintenance items right now. Bearings and hardware are really high when available.
I was wondering how this lift has held out over the past year or so. If anyone has one, I would really appreciate any feedback on well the lift ages and if it’s worth buying. I am seriously interested in buying one, but sort of nervous since I saw this one review on UA-cam. Any feedback back would be awesome! (Am just a simple hobby car guy, and it’s mainly for storage and oil changes a few times a year.)
I recently had to go through all of the adjustments because one of the safety catches was hitting differently than the others. I am sure this was just cable stretching from normal use. 20 minutes, wrenches, and a tape measure got it working perfectly again. I did oil changes, differential checks, basic maintenance on four trucks last night. Dropped two gas tanks last month. Have done new hard brake lines which required the gas tank to be removed. It cost $30 in brake line and the afternoon. The more I use the lift the happier I am with the purchase. Personally it has paid for itself in saved labor costs.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, it’s greatly appreciated. I probably won’t use it as much as you, more to store a car on, with a few oil changes. Sounds as long as a person stay on top of maintenance and adjustments, the lift works well. Thanks again.
See comment above. You better not plan to move this around in you're garage - it is absolutely a PITA to move--won't lower low enough to bring the jacks so they can lift the corner posts. If I had to do it again I'd look for a more quality brand. Too many items on this are cheap - turnbuckles, rods, and jacks (which the casters are mounted to).

So 3 years in, still happy? All working safely? I’m awaiting shipment of mine. Thank you for this great video!

Sweet car man!
We didn’t get the manual. We are stocked and don’t know where to start

Thanks for the video, can the approach ramps be folded or removed once lifted?
They drop into a slot. You can take them off at any point.

What is the height of the ceiling where you installed the Tuxedo lift? And do you remember where you purchased it at for $2700?

Not that I have noticed and I have put a really heavy truck on it. I will put a 6000 pound vehicle on it in a few days and will watch.

How's the lift holding up?
Holding up well. No issues. We are using it for regular maintenance on vehicles. Easier on my body, cleaner, much quicker!

There 4700 now. !!!
Does any one know about a pdf manual to put it together ?
Are you able to support the vehicle by the frame while letting the suspension hang using this lift?
It comes with a very sturdy jack tray so you can jack vehicles on the lift. The tray is big enough to hold my jack stands.
