i know he said he's fine with it not being bolted down but that, sway at 16:11 makes me think other wise. like someone else said, pool noodles or soft cushions for common contact areas will probably save you paint and skull. other than that, nice.
I believe it would still sway like that because the car is in the air so the posts are moving laterally, rather than sliding around on the base. Because the base didn’t move
Honestly had no issues assembling my own 4 post lift from lift king with casters, 6 drip pans, center jack tray and the ramps and stops. Only needed wife's help for one part. Highly agree it doesn't need to be mounted to garage floor.
Jakub, Excellent video. Great detail on virtually all aspects. I likely won’t be able to install a lift here, but there are other components and issues covered so well which I should benefit from. Very complete.
I own two 4-post lifts (making my 2-car garage a 4-car garage). I purchased both lifts myself (a Prolift and an Atlas - rated for 8,000 and 9,000 lbs respectively, but the cars I put on them weigh less than half of that). I built/installed both lifts myself, and it's not difficult. Yes- some of the parts are really heavy (the ramp with the hydraulic cylinder and sliding jacks required help to move, but once you get the parts up on wheel dollys or trolly jacks- you can move it around to position it for installation). The rest is relatively easy. If you build the lift, then you know how it works, and can maintain it yourself as well. If you have the space, and your floor can support the weight- one lift will pay for itself in a year or less compared to paying for a storage facility rental space (which where I live costs $300 and up per month).
If you have the room to open up the ceiling it's definitely worth doing. I installed a 2 post in my garage with 9' ceiling height then modified just 6 trusses to a cambered design raising it to 12'. Huge difference my Durango can go up fully can walk under it the whole 9 yards. I don't have a finished ceiling so the cost wasn't bad around 6 hundred.
I was thinking of wall mounting it but, at least on mine, I have to hold down a bar to allow the lift to slip past the locks, so I’d literally have to mount it essentially in the same vicinity as it is mounted to the post - as my arms would have to hold the lowering arm and also hold down the lock safety release arm. Also, if it’s mounted to the wall you’re obviously stuck as to where you can move the lift if you need to get it out of the way.
Usually the ramps tilt when rising off the floor. One is to keep the ramps sticking out but also keeps the vehicle from rolling off because there is metal that extends off the ramp to block it
I don’t want to give out incorrect info so check with the lifting company. I believe it only matters when you’re drilling and bolting it to the ground but that’s only my guess

so i guess standard concrete depth in our garages is fine? No need to add supports or pour a thicker slab
Yeah that only becomes a factor when you want a 2 post lift
Mine is 9.5 as well. Was hoping to fit r32, r34, s2000, and rx7 with two lifts. I'll just have to lower them all 😂
Great tips and explanations nice cars and the garage also.👍😎🇨🇦
Glad it was helpful!
Dang if that’s a low ceiling garage what do I have? My garage is small but I’m grateful to have a garage. Nice set up man.
It is low for considering a lift in it. But no it’s not 8ft. Thanks
damn man . that is my dream indeed . Gotta keep hustling and one day yes ill be reality . Happy for you tho .
I would really recommend a 12 gauge extension cord, especially given current inrush demand of the lift motor.
It was impossible to find a short 12 gauge cord. I don’t want a 25ft bundle sitting on the ground. I’ve had no issues with this setup
I ordered race ramps too….on back order and won’t get them for a few weeks.
I got my cobra exhaust tucked up about 1” higher since filming this video. I might not need the race ramps anymore but it would be nice for not having to lift 50lbs haah
Hey thanks for the video but a 15 amp breaker isn’t enough especially if something is on the same circuit 20 amp would be better
Correct
Will 2 non lowered Hellcats fit in that setup?
Do the math in this video. I doubt it though they’re huge
I have a 8Ft ceiling, can I fit 2 mustangs with a lift like this?
I doubt your Mustang’s are under 4ft plus the ramp
Does your kids car fit underneath if the Raptor is hoisted?
The raptor is too wide for the ramps lol. Tires stick out. A stock f150 would probably fit
Such a random reference to mention CB and jay cutler lol
When 2 jacked dudes show up from a company with lifting in the name, the reference had to be made 😂
my garage is literally the same height front to back. raised the tracks and installed the same liftmaster opener. need to make final measurements to fit a z06 on top and 599 on the botom.
I think your 599 is slightly lower than my cobra or at least very similar. Should fit!
great video.
You must the most accommodating wife of all time. So, what special thing does she get to have or do? And, you still have one of the cleanest garages that I have ever seen......
She buys shit on Amazon seemingly everyday. So everyone’s happy lol
@@itsreallyjakub i think they all do that
