Thanks for making this Yam. I have also seen this all over instagram and could not find one bad review or anybody that had the unfortunate luck of “testing” them out in a real life situation. I saw some riding jeans at my dealer (greater Boston Motorsports) and they had some Klim riding jeans which had a “A” for abrasion which the attendant explained to me. They were 300 dollars but I would definitely trust those over NBT.
I am happy you are not afraid to expose brands selling “protective” gear which may not be up to the task.

I have two NBT pairs. The one you show here and the more expensive pair. I like the expensive ones better. I don’t wear them for the protection so much. For me it’s how they fit. The elastic and stretch helps when in the riding position. Never heard of Uglybros. I’ll be checking them out now.

I went down with NBT pants just last week! It did help in the knee pad as far as the possible dislocation or fracture in my knee without the pads, however..... The fabric ripped at the knee, butt, and the upper thigh. THEY DO NOT WORK. I got road rash on both legs and sadly, my thick hoodie I fell in and slid just as far in actually did a better job than NBT "abrasion" pants. Thank you for making this PSA about these scams. CE rating is not the CE -Euro standard, its CE rating is a "Çhina Export" stamp. If you want CE protection, only buy CE gear from reputable brands
Man, this is a bold and important video. As a newer rider, I know I’ve been absolutely inundated with ads from various moto brands and influencers and luckily, I made the conscious decision to only ever buy gear from reputable brands that met the higher standards. I’m sure there are tons of new riders who likely have no idea where to start with good gear and/or want to save as much money as possible. I hope many of them see this and start their riding career out on the right foot.

@@jessebueckert5652not at all! Its helped me. I've been looking to get motorcycle gear and only trust alpinestars jacket and gloves and Shoei helmet so far. But for pants I've been really lost as to what to get as a woman. So this helped me from getting scammed and not cut any corners with buying pants for comfortability or looks either.
100 agree with you!! I was just about to say that as a beginner rider. We are uncertain which is good or bad. Only if we do our research and watch these types of videos.

If I’ve learned anything since I started riding it’s that we’re always going to be changing how we ride, what we ride, what we wear, and what we need for all the above. The most important thing, imo, is just staying the course. As riders, we should constantly be evolving and growing through practice and habit. Wearing ANY gear is better than none.

Yammie for being the first major content creator to dive into this! I have been warning about these scam companies for ages and have even had comments removed from videos warning against NBT and other such brands.
So many new riders are easily influenced and these pants and the other advertised "protective" clothing are an actual danger.

Fun fact. I have purchased the NBT Aramid edition pants, and they came with the literally the exact same padding you pulled out of the winx pants. Couple months later I bought another pair during their 50% sale, and got the actual padding you pulled from these NBT pants.

If you’re going this route at least have FULL aramid(Kevlar etc) protection. If there is armor the pants have to be tight enough for it to stay in place.

It’ll be some time till I get some now since my motorcycle was recently stolen and is now totaled but I’ll definitely be on a better lookout with material description when I get another bike. NBT pants do not work and I found this out the hard way when I had a 35 mph crash in which I slid for a few seconds on my right leg. The Joe Rocket Atomic 5.0 jacket I was wearing held up well and did its job, saving my skin. The NBT Aramid pants were shredded instantly, not holding up what so ever with the aramid layers pulling off at the seams.
The reason why I didn't end up tearing my leg up was the leather boots I was wearing sat higher on my calves and shin, my leather wallet protected my thigh, and I was wearing multiple layers as it was February in New York, not exactly the warmest of seasons.
When I contacted the company about getting them replaced or refunded, they would not honor it despite me having the appropriate proof of purchase. Knowing what I know now, I'd never buy those piece of crap pants or influencer gear. In fact, all my gear now is all reputable brands like Alpinestars, or Spidi, etc, that is CE rated and tested.
I definitely learned a lot from this video. I'll be looking at the tags on riding jeans for the CE certification from now on. Thank you, sir!

I purchased 3 NBTs a year ago and as soon as they got home I knew I got scammed.
I tried to return them but since I'm overseas the shipping would be on me (Over $100).
I’ve had 6 pairs not a single one lasted more than 2 months

I just bought a pair of RevIt Moto 2 jeans. These things are heavy as fuck compared to normal jeans! How someone could compare the two and think the NBT garbage is safe is just astounding.
Thought about buying NBT but went with a pair of 4SR pants due to them just being around longer and the price being relatively similar.
I will speak in one defense of NBT. The pants that Yam bought are indeed their original run of pants, and all criticisms are valid. These days however, the pants that NBT features are there aramid lined version of these pants. I'd love to see a follow-up review of the more expensive aramid-lined version to see if they perform better

i am actually very glad for these videos. i put tons of research and review reading before buying gear. i ended up going with saint unbreakable denim and they are AA certified. i have 3 pair and highly recommend.

As someone who dropped a bike before and slid DO NOT SKIMP ON GEAR! Wear your gear every time you ride! I don’t care how hot it gets do not ride in shorts or just a vest/muscle shirt. A few minutes of “cool” can be a lifetime of pain moto abrasions HURT like hell because your skin gets ripped AND burned at the same time! Just pony up and spend the cash on the better gear!
Great video. I actually got a pair of the Amazon pants when I first started riding. I knew they would just be a pair of CHEAP jeans with some armor pockets. But I gave em a whirl at $60. Washed em a hand full of times... surprise surprise the color faded almost immediately and on about the 6th wash the fabric just shredded and came apart in the washing machine. My immediate thoughts were "my standard Levis would've been way better" 😂

Bought a pair of NBT born to ride pants about 1.5 years ago. Have since progressed to Dyneema jeans now mostly just wear the NBT as regular jeans to work since they are pretty comfy.
Probably one of the most important vids I’ve seen in a while. I almost got a pair of the NBT / Winx. Good thing nothing fits me very well so I was going to hit the local Cycle Gear to try the pants on. At which point I would have learned not to buy them, because I am pretty sure none of these knock off are sold at Cycle Gear.

I imported Roadskin Tanaris Elite pants from the UK, and honestly they're very nice quality. Been thrilled with them so far, and luckily haven't had to put them to the test yet.
CE stamp can be confused with China's Chinese Export stamp which is similar if not the same stamp. CE - Euro standard stamp has a larger gap than the CE - China with is closer together.

These exposés of the (usually) cheap scam motorcycle clothes are so badly needed. So many people get that stuff, it's ridiculous. And it requires an informed person to point out how bad they are, so this is a real public service. But also fun to watch! Would love to see something like this more frequently.

There seems to be an explosion of style before (any) protection motorcycle pants available. I've even seen some in motorcycle stores, where they seemed to just be expensive regular jeans. I can see it being very easy for new riders to buy something with no real protection accidentally. That said, pricing of kevlar lined/armoured jeans have really jumped in recent years.
I wear d30 armored overpants, that way I can wear whatever I want.

I've been rocking the Spidi j&dyneema evo jeans for approximately 2 years. The are a single layer jean that is a blend of denim, 60% Dyneema (abrasion resistant material) and 2% elastine. The garment itself is AAA rated for abrasion resistance . It comes with Spidi hip and knee armor. I love the jeans. The are much cooler than kevlar lined jeans I've tried which is a huge plus being I live in the hot/humid south (US). The armor stays in place and they have enough stretch to make them super comfortable.. The also have a gusset style crotch so your boys don't get crushed. They are cut higher in the back to provide additional coverage
At 350.00 US they ain't cheap but I feel confident they would do the job of protecting my hideif I ever had an off on the road.
Great video mate. Wasn't really looking into buying any of them but was bombarded with ads for some reason lol. Those companies should be all taken to court and closed down. It's scary that some people would actually buy and use those kind of items thinking they give protection and not knowing there is actually zero chance of saving your skin from the road lol

Do more!!! Do a little series going through all the "current/trendy things" moto gear and the actual good stuff. Lets see if any of the "Cheap/new/trendy" have any good stuff hiding in with them...
Moral of the story is, stick to known brands with proper CE ratings. Don’t cheap out on your safety.
I have the nbt pants before the pad revision and their padding was identical to the winx pants 😂😂 I remember when I got my pants I was thinking no way these are going to protect me 😅

I went down a couple months ago in Dainese jeans and walked away with just a couple bruises. When I was looking for replacement pants I almost bought the NBT ones but ultimately decided to go with Dainese again. This makes me so happy I spent the extra money.

Look for aramid fabric (Kevlar) for abrasion resistance.
The CE tags sometimes just apply to the pads, not the garment.
