I used to wanna be signed to Rawkus. Started making beats when I was 15 because of that BlackStar album. Thieves in the Night is still one of my favorite joints of all time
Kill the background music guys, it distracts from what you are saying and gives the impression that what you're saying isn't important enough to be interesting... From a dedicated DEHH fan :)
I personally dig Prisoner of Conscious quite a bit, wasn't perfect but still solid. But Gravitas I feel like it's his best release since Eardrum. It's Kweli in his elemen
It's getting to the point where i'm not expecting anything new from Kweli, i just want to hear a DOPE Kweli project. just like age, people don't stay young forever, rappers can't keep their shine forever
yeah rappers on general i dont expect anything form any rapper anymore. Its too difficult to expect them to keep topping themselves especially if they are signed to majors cause they have restrictions on creativity. Overall i have no expectations anymore I take it as each project comes. As artists get older they are not going be rapping about the same things as when they are young, most adults mature as they get older.
mig man Summed it all up perfectly. The only rappers who i would expect a fresh sound from is the newer ones like Action Bronson, Joey Badass, Big KRIT, etc.
The problem with conscious rappers is because the moment they are classed as a concious rapper, we box them as a prophet so we expect them to be that way and we don't want them to do anything else. It's like being a preacher. Once someone becomes a preacher, we place them above human and get shocked when they do stuff which makes them human in the first place.
I haven't heard all of talib's albums but this to me is his best work since the beautiful struggle l.p. "violations" "rare portraits" "colors of you" "art imitates life" "demonology" those were all bangers. the production was average, but this was the REAL album talib should've came out with ,I think its a nice put together album. this is real hip hop right here, he made up for prisoner of consciousness. that shit was wack. and the young kids out here need to listen to this. get off dat 2chainz and Trinidad james bullshit and give real hip hop a listen.
Prisoner of Concious was hit or miss for me. Had some good songs but also some songs that I just didn't feel. Gravitas is a much more comfortable Talib Kweli just doing what he does best, rhyming his ass off, and talking about real issues, good story telling. Yes the youngsters should pick this up. Give it a shot and give themselves some diversity, and not just listen to rappers that talk about money, hoes, drugs, and clubbing. There's more to life than just that.
Damn. People are annoying. Just comment the damn video stop with this civila demo rashad thing. They gonna review it or they won't but please. Comment the actual video that you clicked on. Shit
Talib is just another rapper to me tbh.. He's good but there's nothing else to say, I don't get anything out of listening to hi so ima just leave this album alone and stick with Qualty, Blackstar and Train of Thought
Andrew Simpson talib kweli is single handedly responsible for the 'cornification' of the conscious mc, it's why people shun that label cos of corny mfers like talib... i liked reflection eternal and the black star project but other than that.... nah....

I love Talib I love most of the old school artist and I'm fairly young in terms of most people
Im 17 Talib Kweli was like my 1st Fav rapper on some underground shit especially when he was in Mark Ecko's Getting Up video game
Yea I feel ya my pops introduced me to the old school artist at a young age

***** I have to disagree Talib's best album IMO is "Reflection Eternal - Train of thought" with DJ Hi-Tech, it is a masterpiece.
ezekielthemack That album gets unlimited replay value, regardless of anything.

Breezy whats your favorite Roots album.
beezy430 Same here Respond/react, section, and clones are some of my favorites rap songs period.

Whatever he wants to be called. Mos needs new material
I personally dig Prisoner of Conscious quite a bit, wasn't perfect but still solid. But Gravitas I feel like it's his best release since Eardrum. It's Kweli in his elemen
cilvia demo
Another album already? Didn't POC just drop?
He probably did that project sometime in 2012, Gravitas is better than POC BTW
yeah, it came out in may i was surprised he dropped another album last year.
Review cilvia demo.!!!

Prisoner of concious wasn't that bad. I am not really understanding the hate towards it.
Agree.

Kweli is GOAT
Cilvia Demo
I'm 14 and know Talib Kweli.
dude congrats
Isaiah rashad cilvia!!
Talib is just another rapper to me tbh.. He's good but there's nothing else to say, I don't get anything out of listening to hi so ima just leave this album alone and stick with Qualty, Blackstar and Train of Thought
Keyser Soeze including collabs, Blackstar easily. Train of Thought and Quality are pretty equal for me but if I had to choose I'd go with Quality
#feefocares
I think the best underground rapper is MF Doom
Cilvia Demo is wack don't review.
talib been corny
SMH! You gotta be kiddin me? Corny? SMH!
No Herman, you are just too dumb to know quality music. Go back to Chief Keef
and that unintelligent 8th grade drop out music.
I think you mean nice
Andrew Simpson talib kweli is single handedly responsible for the 'cornification' of the conscious mc, it's why people shun that label cos of corny mfers like talib... i liked reflection eternal and the black star project but other than that.... nah....
