    Wow the video was spot on. Although my microwave was somewhat different the components were the same. I followed the recommendations and like magic the fan kicked in and started running like a charm. Thanks!

    Thank you Rick. Your solution worked for and even forced me to clean the whole interior of my 20 year old microwave oven. What a mess it was with all the hardened grease. I found the fan nicely tucked away and span it around by hand and when plugged it back in, wolla...... it worked. Thanks man, you saved me a bunch of money!

    FYI If your fan is non-operational right from the factory it may not be an electronic malfunction. It may be mechanical. Here is my solution: My brand-spanking new GE counter-top microwave did not sound right from the first time i used it. Then I noticed that any food cooked created copious amounts of steam that escaped out the front door when it was opened. I knew this was not right. So I felt the back of the unit and found that there was no fan exhaust while running. So I got out my flashlight and peered into the grate of the exhaust port. Using a very small diameter, non-metallic probe I tried turning the fan blades. They were free but would not spin. Then I noticed that they were bumping up against a piece of metal inside. So I removed the 8 screws on the back and pulled the housing backwards towards the rear of the unit which allowed it to be removed. Being VERY careful to stay clear if any of the internal electronics (which can injure of kill says EVERYONE) I used a pair of insulated pliers to bend the thin sheet of metal away from the fan blades. Voila! Problem solved. I could have just returned the unit -EXCEPT- Home depot will not take back returns after 48 hours. I did not even use it for 3 days! And dealing with GE's "courtesy Goodwill Certificate" was going to be a major hassle. I hope this 5-minute tip saves you 2 hours on the phone on hold trying to talk with GE!

    if its not relay it can be fan motor.Check the fan motor for proper ohms according to schematics.

    Dude that was not the problem I had ,but your video got me to where I needed to be to see the issue one of the power cords going to the fan coil had become unplugged.I had only had the microwave brand new for about 2 weeks ,but its the first time that I cooked with it longer than 5 min.s and the thing shut itself down due to overheating ( no fan ) .until now thanks Rick

    Even though there feels no obstruction on the fan, relay is not always the culprit. My case was that the fan motor was the issue. Also knocking off the relay is temporary solution,.it will come back. Replacement will eliminate the issue 100%.

    Don't relays just go bad sometimes? My defroster fan in my truck wouldn't work on low, so I just replaced the relay and it fixed the problem. However, I will still try the tap method first. Thanks.

    Came across this after realized within the last couple days our High Pointe microwave fan in camper was not running when cooking food. Used one summer when camper was new in 2019. Storage for covid and health issues. Just out since June 2023. Sounded fine couple days ago. Noticed yesterday lots of moisture inside and on inside door. Had to wipe it all out. Just tonight the fan inside is not running. Think have to totally remove from cabinet. Not sure want to do that. Think is plugged in behind it in the cabinet. Do not know if it will ruin anything running it without the fan circulating the steam and air.

    Fan won't turn off

    • @FixiT-Rick
      @FixiT-Rick  3 роки тому

      If your fan won’t turn off, that means the relay that turns on the fan is stuck. Try opening and closing your microwave door a couple times and shut the door kinda hard. If the fan is still on, just watch this video on how to find the relay and give it a good tap with your screw driver.
