Thank you. Just cleaning the OTR microwave in our house, and I never even knew it was sucking air from underneath because the suction is so much greater from the top, and it's all full of grease there, but no filter on top unless you are blowing air out the top. Really needs a filter up on top for air being sucked in to catch all the grease. Also getting some LED bulbs to replace the old incandescent, I think they are bad, get way too hot.
don't buy another microwave... samsung uses the same design, so do a few others. you have to seal the holes to create a duct.... totally garbage design
Just bought a Samsung OTR microwave. 4 levels of suck; all useless. Called for repair of my new unit; tech said it was normal because it can hold up a napkin (on level 4) if you bring the napkin right over the intake. Won't even grab the napkin from 1" away. Not right!!
i barely feel any air suction from the bottom of the air filters where it faces the stove (weak as in barely any airflow) is this to be expected? this is a brand new bosch microwave
@Mike ,Thanks, too bad they sell us this junk with all the promises. I stopped at the appliance store again and they suggested I hire an air duct company to check it. WHY, the older microwave worked great this new GE PROFILE, SUCKS, but it doesn't suck the air up. Frustrating.
@@wildhorses6817 I'm also here searching for a solution to my very expensive GE Profile microwave vent pulling almost nothing at all. To the point that the door glass actually gets completely filled with moisture. So frustrated at this over priced pos.
Dumb question, but is there an actual vent above/behind the microwave to take the exhaust out of the house? you'd be surprised how many put in microwaves that aren't vented. Also, slightly open a window and try it. Every cubic foot of air that the hood/blower pulls from the room must be replaced by pulling air from outside the house. Quite often people who install those big stainless hoods (no microwave) discover it's pulling air down bathroom exhaust vents, from the garage, or down the chimney. All of which are very bad.
I know this is so old but how do you fix this? I’m in an apartment and have this issue. I want to tape it up but will using the microwave hurt the tape or don’t want to create a fire hazard.
I taped all the holes as instructed and it works.

Thanks for this. My microwave/hood is terrible and this explains some of the issues
Excellent explanation
you have described the problem. What is the solution, short of going out and buying another microwave ?

Same problem with my new Samsung. My old KitchenAid OTR microwave was sucking air like crazy. Very disappointed with Samsung. It just makes noise.
Strange. My ancient Whirlpool from 1990 still has good suction for a microwave. nothing like a real hood can do though.
What did you replace it with?

I did not intend to propose a fix, I was only trying to explain why they perform so poorly.
I guess I made the poor choice of buying the Samsung OTR I have this issue!!
Mine is brand new whirlpool and will not draw at all
Thank you
What's the alternative replacement that can do a better job than the OTR microwave?
@@arun120977 , and then the cabinet needs removal too, yikes. Lots of work to be done and expenses !
it drives folks MAD when you get a slow talking and finger directing video. This is NOT your directorial debut people.
what the fuck are you talkin about
I guess I’m the only one that is confused? I didn’t learn NADA from this
You already knew it? Or you couldn't understand it?
Your voice is so depressing
Give it up .... this is NOT a directorial debut. Stop taking SO long to explain
You are miserable
Hey dumb dumb, there is a playback speed setting for a reason.
