Yes I would love to see the GTO or Ford against a 1962 Super Stock Dodge with the Street wedge 413 it may not have the looks of a muscle car but it blew the doors off every car it got beside and that's not even the Max Wedge cars the factory built for the 1/4 mile which were so much more then the street wedge not to mention Chryslers 1957 300C before GM and Ford even knew what was going on the 300 was winning races on the nascar tracks, 1/4 mile tracks and street light to street light in 55, 56, 57. just look them cars up anyway I won't go on because Ford and Pontiac had some sweet cars too in the early 60's.
I had a 1970 Cougar with a 351 Cleveland. It was a true chick magnet. The naval aviation "Wings of Gold" on my uniform (gold stripes on wrists) didn't hurt either.
Some say the Chrysler 300's of the 1950's were the first muscle cars . And before those you had the Hudson Hornet which won the NASCAR championship in 51, 52, 53 at first place and came in second in 54 . The Hornets in line Six made more power than the Olds 88 V8 of 53 .
You have made some valid points. There has been a long standing discussion amongst car gurus as to which car was actually the very first muscle car. Some say that the 1949 Oldsmobile with its' high compression OHV V-8 Rocket 88 engine was the first muscle car. Others claim that the 1955 Chrysler C-300 (beginning in 1956 known as the 300-B up until 1962 known as the 300-H) with its' 331 CID HEMI engine was the first muscle car. It is my contention that the definition of a muscle car is traditionally a mid-size car with a full-size car engine which has been "tweaked" for more performance, plus better brakes, tires, a stiffer suspension, etc. Truly this honor goes to the 1964 1/2 Pontiac Tempest 2 door sedan with the $189.00 GTO (Grand Turismo Omalagato) option package.
Love the content and quality of your videos. But respectfully, they are too short. Why? Thanks for what you do but not sure if I'll remain subscribed because of the limited duration. Cheers
Viewers including me and my brother have VERY short attention spans. Honestly, 90% of our videos are only viewed for about 6 min. It makes no sense to push a 20 to 30 min video when everyone drops off at 6 min. Sorry about that. Thanks for watching and the comment! Boca Brothers
WRONG....those are old fake GROSS ratings that were banned after 1971. The REAL net horsepower of the 426 is 350, the 440-6 is 325 net----a 2022 Dodge 5.7 is more at 375 net. The old cars were OVER RATED, not under rated.
The movie Bullet was 1968 not 1988 like he said. Yes maybe the Charger was faster then the Mustang but that chase was not about speed it was also about handling. The Charger handled like a Sherman tank while the Mustang was much more nimble. Dodge cars have never been great handling vehicles.

Also, Ford did not offer a Crown Victoria in 1951. In 1955 Ford resurrected the nane Victoria, first used on the 1928 Ford Model A 2 door sedan, by offering a 2 door pillarless hardtop. In 1956 the Victoria again appeared, but another model was added to thevline-up, called the Crown Victoria. This was the very first time this name was ever used by Ford. It was one step abovevthe Victoria and came with slanted, forward facing wide chrome side cladding continuing accross the roof from one sidev to the other. This molding was sbout 8 inches wide, and purely decorative, but unlike anything from any other manufacturer. It is still a classic car!
I was disappointed that the video didn't tell HOW HIGH they revved. I thought the point was to show which cars with which engine had the highest redline. Granted that's not a determiner of engine power, acceleration, or top speed, but it would be interesting to know. Barely related: My 1973 Mazda RX-3's 70 cubic inch (1146cc) 2-rotor Wankel rotary engine yellow-lined at 6,500 RPM and redlined at 7,000 RPM. Not a terribly fast car, but fun to drive.
Dave, it's viewers like you who keep us on our toes! Good catch! That was my fault. Sorry Danny (brother) I was moving around some voice and somehow forgot to correct. Thanks for watching Dave.
You missed one of the most interesting of the 60s American muscle cars, though the company only produced their cars for 4 years. Sunbeam, the Alpine 3 with a 4 cylinder or the Tiger with the Ford 289 thin-wall V8. Produced from 1964 through 1967. GM bought Sunbeam in 1966 and when they found out it used a Ford engine killed the brand and cars. Every car was a 2 seater ragtop and hardtop. They had a pop-off hardtop. Their styling was very reminiscent of the 2 seat sports car in the Frankie Avalon + Annette Funicello beach / surf movies.
If you are going to bill yourselves as historians, don't put a 70 Chevelle SS in the thumbnail for a "Best Of The 60s" video. Makes me wonder what else slipped by?

For Mopar's!!
The horsepower ratings in this video are fake---all fake numbers that were outlawed in 1972. The 426 Hemi was claimed to be 425 hp but is only 350 net---the 440-6 was claimed to be 390 but was only 325 net----all the numbers in this video were GROSS dyno readings with no muffler, air cleaner, smog gear, or belts. Add these items, then put in the car, and you lost 18-20% horsepower. That is why after the 1971 year all cars had to be rated SAE NET. NONE of these cars put out more than 350 hp net--most were under 300 net. A 2021 Dodge 5.7 V-8 gets 375 net and beats EVERY CAR in this video for horsepower!
Zenith? I respect the old muscle cars, my dad bought a '67 Belvedere and my brother begged him to get the 426, but he was too practical and got the 273 Oi. BUT, the zenith has yet to be accomplished since most modern 2.0 turbos destroy these old lumps. Even my '11 302 Mustang would make them run for mommy. We are in the best world of power now
I appreciate your attempt at trying to delineate and define the "second phase" of the Muscle Car era at a professional level, however you have not achieved it. Nice try though. Having reviewed the comments below I would say that many of the deficiencies of your presentation have been addressed, however, I have found even more, and I am reviewing it further and I am making a list of the shortfalls, and I will submit it later after I have fact checked my critique and edited it. Vetting and editing are 2 things that you need to focus and work on, for projects like this one, and "Vetting" has nothing to do with Chevrolet Corvettes, if you aren't familiar with that word, no offense. The subjectivity of the topic can be controversial and very volatile to automobile aficionados, let alone putting a numerical limit on it, but I don't understand why the 1970 Mopar "E" bodies were included in a presentation with a title that clearly states that it is supposed to be about the 1960s, not that the "E" bodies shouldn't be included in any proper listing of supremely legendary muscle cars, but is it because that they were delivered to Plymouth and Dodge dealerships in August of 1969, but not released for sale until October 1969. Please explain. They are after all 1970 models. Why for instance is the GTO listed twice, yet no mention of the car that toppled it from the summit of the sales charts the legendary Plymouth Road Runner in 1968. Well get to work on your automotive academics, you have some knowledge, but you are a long, long way to go before you could even think about a doctoral dissertation.
This has to be one of the most biased least informed videos EVER produced. No less than pathetic in its grouping of muscle cars. wasted every sungle second of the time i took watching it, Foolish bunch of bologna! No one that knows their head from their foot about actual muscle cars would EVER agree with this list.

No M code 440 Dodge Darts? What is a hemi 440? You guys need to study up on the Mopars.
The Hemi at that time was a 426ci engine. The 440 was a Magnum engine.

Where is the '70 Chevelle LS-6? It would beat most of those

@@norrinradd2214 maybe not but. Awsome hotrods for thier day and time. Where i live nobody could afford to buy new muscle cars we bought used and built what we could or ran them stock .
@@altonkenne579 agreed, I’d take an impala over a chevelle any day
And no mention of the Chevelle? I mean I guess the LS6 cars WERE pretty slow and all…🙄

Hello sir the movie 🎥 bullet was made in 1960s / that was at lot of chargers general Lee's/ thoses classic car are better then junk today
Thanks for watching. Make sure and subscribe cause we'll be giving out prizes soon!
Bullitt was made in 1968--------not 1988! There is no HEMI 440. This guy needs to go over his script again.
That’s because of computers 🤡
We are in the best world of power now
10 of the greatest AND sexiest don't forget sexiest 😛
Missed it.
No Corvette you must be a Troll
Its dodge charger
Pony cars are NOT muscle cars...neither were Dart or Nova.
Why for instance is the GTO listed twice, yet no mention of the car that toppled it from the summit of the sales charts the legendary
Plymouth Road Runner in 1968.
We appreciate you watching! We would all like to know what your list looks like so that other viewers and subscribers can chime in? It's one thing to reject our list but let's see your list?
@@ThisOldCarChannel There is no way that i am wasting another moment on this video in ANY capacity. I am that offended by it.
@@TheWhitetailrancher Wow! Are you OK? We are concerned since you said you are offended by it. There are SO many other things in life to be offended by. This is just a video. We care about our viewers.
