    They're basically property investors. They had big sums of money in the early 2000s which they put into properties in Bangalore. They made good use of the property price surge during that time. Not everyone will be fortunate to have big sums to invest in property and then see them rise in value. These days it'll be hard to find the initial capital for property as it's too expensive in Bangalore and other big cities. The returns on property is also not much presently.

    • @Whatreally123
      @Whatreally123 4 місяці тому +1

      My parents worked in a bank. Not rich. They invested smartly in land in Bangalore and now the real estate assets is a huge sum in their "portfolio". There are other colleagues of my parents who were lower ranked than them yet have made more property. It's got nothing to do with being fortunate, it's just some planning. My friend's father who was also a bank employee at kuh higher grade than my parents didn't do much investment and now my friend had to buy them a house. And my parents didn't have huge sums to invest. They did it with small amounts and bought land on outskirts of Bangalore, which is now very well within the city.
      You can also do it but of course in today's times it's more difficult and with job volatility, taking on any sort of long term investment is risky.

    Retirement may not be about stopping to work and live doing nothing. It can be about Retirement from a traditional job and start working on something one loves to do on own terms. Doing nothing on passive fund flow can only be enjoyed for sometime, which no one would realise whilst in there own current job hassles. Retirement can actually be a third innings of living a working life on own terms and enjoyment, without it becoming a workless purposeless slow wait for the end.

    • @ThrowawayUser-le9vd
      @ThrowawayUser-le9vd 4 місяці тому

      You sound very depressed sweetheart.
      Retirement may very well be about ceasing all work and living without any activities.
      It may not be about retiring from a traditional job and starting to work on something one loves to do on their own terms.
      Enjoying doing nothing with passive income can be sustained for long, subjectively.
      Retirement may not actually be a third phase of living a working life on one's own terms and enjoyment; it may also be a workless, joyfull, freedom till it lasts.

    I am an Army officer retired from service after 10 years, without any pension benefits.
    My wife is a civilian so she was obviously not earning while I was in forces since she wanted to stay with me.
    I invested in real estate, mutual funds, equities and working in corporate sector since last 2 years.
    My net worth is around 2 CR without my family property.
    So nothing great in this video since the officer is getting pension worth a lac each month and wife also is a retired Army Officer.
    Totally my personal thoughts, no offence against any officer.

    • @SigmaAlfa8
      @SigmaAlfa8 4 місяці тому +11

      So you could've continued in service. Staying in the uniform or leaving it is a personal choice which will come alongwith implications. As for pensions, any corporate job would fetch a moderately successful professional at least two to three times what an Army officer would get hence the corpus that he would be able to generate in 10 years of switching jobs would be equal to a regular Army officer's entire retirement emoluments after more than 30 years in service. Hence, don't grudge pensions, besides, it is a voluntary force, if you think you need a pension then be willing to make the sacrifices and exposing yourself to risks and separations to earn it rather than choosing to be in a secure corporate environment in a Tier 1 or 2 city...

    1. How he found out the property in Coorg ?
    2. What was the idea to buy in Coorg?, why not other places, its just only looking for golf courses ??
    Since they said so much about Golf, whats the Golf course membership expense.
    3. what kind of expense one has to think to have this hobby.
    4. How they got contacts for the property ?, are they native ?
    5. How they negotiated being a outsider?
    5.1. how they validated the documents, what are the struggles of that ?, did they hire someone ?
    6. How much they spent on the construction, how they planned for it ??
    7. Same for Bangalore flat, How they got to know about property ? why white-field?, were they staying there ?. why choose that specific property.
    Its more about the mindset people want to know than just showing we have this and that.

    sir, In India the majority of the people earn 35000-40000 rupees per month. So, please make one video on how these categories of people generate the money over the long run. It will not only be beneficial for me but also help others who are willing to invest with that money.

    Thank you for this insightful video. I decided to join the British Army instead (could have joined the Indian Army but it was too tough) and though the salary and benefits are greater, the expenses in the UK is too high.
    As the eldest son, after helping my siblings get a firm footing in their lives, I started investing only after 15 years of my service in 2015.
    I have now realised the difference between saving and investing. Of the 2 Cr I had invested in real estates between 2015 - 2021 (mostly loans), I have 4x it in 2024. The plan is to invest a small portion of my salary every month until retirement.
    Like the Col said, I wish I had started it earlier.

    Not to demean his success story in any way....but a lot harder to achieve this in the private sector with no final salary pension arrangements like in the public sector/armed forces. The corpus required will have to be a lot higher

    • @SigmaAlfa8
      @SigmaAlfa8 4 місяці тому +6

      In the private sector, the salary is five times of what an Army officer in an equivalent position of service and experience would get. An Army officer can save a maximum of a crore rupees after putting in close to 30 plus years of service. In the corporate sector an MBA would make that kind of money in five to six years so don't grudge defence services officers their pensions and this is when the risks and the injuries and the separation from family is not even being spoken about...

    Actually govt officials when retire govt gives them a lump sum amount
    In my office, last year P.S to DG (PS is still group B post, level 8) she received Rs. 2 crore (I saw the cheque) and since she joined the service pre 2003 so she will be getting pension according to OPS (probably Rs. 70,000 - 75000 per month, which gets revised as per D.A every 6 months)
    This year DG (1988 batch IPS ) retired but I don't know how much he got, he was at level 17 pay so I assume he must have received some big ass amount from the govt of India
