The washers are supposed to be put between the keys so they can be held apart and be able to mesh in the middle like fingers interlocking.

Yes this is an option, however using the washers limits the number of keys. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    Thank you for this.
I've owned the KeySmart for almost 6 years now.
I love it but I hate how the screw gets loose.
I just saw an advertisement for the Ridge so I searched UA-cam for a comparison.
I'm disappointed to find out that the screw on the Ridge also gets loose.
    Oh well.
    I'll keep my KeySmart.
    It's thinner and more sleek.

I just received my key smart yesterday , for a minimalist object in my EDC pack I love it , I got the black one and ceramic coated it and I got six keys on it works great !
Plus I love the accessories you can get for the keysmart if you need it ! For the $60 savings it's definitely the way to go 👍

I've been using the key smart. Washers on keysmart must be put on both ends, so as the screw wont loosen. Washer-keys-washer, then lock it in.

I bought the ridge and returned it as it adds a lot of weight and makes my back pocket bulkier than just having keys on a key ring in my pocket. I also saw the screw will loosen. An example of over engineering where it is not needed. More complicated, less efficient, more off a hassle, more expensive

They both look good but personally I'd rather spend $20 than $70 so Key Smart would be the winner for me. 👍

I have black key smart key organizer. I have really liked it. I have only looked at ridge because I ordered ridge wallet, but honestly my black key smart is holding up well. I don’t see the need to spend the extra money on the ridge. Plus I think I prefer the fact that the key smart is so slim.

The one thing I don't like about the keysmart was that overtime in my pockets the keys facing each other would try to overlap each other and then bend the keys slightly. This was the main reason I considered moving to the Ridge as they all are on one side and won't smash against each other. Might just be my specific use case. I only have 4 keys, 2 on each side and I use one spacer between each key. I'm just not sure I'm sold on the $75 price tag of the Ridge. I do own and love their wallet though. My wallet does get the same kind of wearing on it like you showed on the key case.
I also noticed that with only 4 keys on my Key Smart that the screws loosened up over a longer period of time than yours did. I'd guess it's around 2 or 3 months where I have to go and tighten them down a bit, but they haven't gotten as loose as yours did in the video even in that time.

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  2 роки тому +2

I find that I am tightening them both down at least once ot twice a month... it's no bug deal, just a twist or two. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🙂

I just bought The Ridge, and I am excited about its arrival. I have never had a keyhole, so this will be the first. Before this keyholer, my keys would snare the stitches and eventually put holes in my pocket.

I have the blue Key Smart. Have 3 keys on one side and 2 on the other. Plus I clipped my key fob to the hook at the one end. My keys would get tangled up in the key rings and get jammed so I switched to the Key Smart. I love it. FYI I use a dime to screw/unscrew.

Got my Ridge KeyCase in titanium recently and I am 100% satisfied. Looks great, feels great in the hand and if it ever breaks, they just send me another. Definitely going to be buying a couple of these around Christmas time as gifts.

I bought the Ridge titanium keycase. In my opinion I don’t think it is any advantage over a key ring especially considering it costs a $100 and adds more weight in your pant pocket.

  • @mahfrot5

I got a KeySmart way back when they first came out, and it only lasted for about a year before the screws themselves broke. The loosening issue came to be pretty annoying (and frequent) after about 6 months. Using the body of the KeySmart I believe put too much torque on the screws and might be why they failed. So, now I’m going to get a Ridge as the price point may be reflected in quality/durability. Thanks for the review!

I use a carbon fiber one so you don't have to worry about rubbing off the paint / anodisation.
Got mine for £12 off Amazon, even £20 quid is pretty expensive, put some lock tight in the screws to stop them coming out, had mine for a year some no name branded one, zero issues with any of the cheaper ones with a bit of lock tight.
Anything more expensive than 20 is just mugging you off because your a slave to a brand.

this is interesting i have had my keysmart for maybe 4 years and never had an issue in fact it looks brand new. But then again I only have 3 keys on it I watched this because I love my ridge wallet and wanted to see the main differenecs between both. i might get a ridge but the think the price point is kinda steep I also never had the floppy key thing he spoke of either thank you for the review

I think the real question might be how many of those keys are still active! I was looking at the KeySmart and did an inventory / count of how many I had. I was able to get rid of 6! Think a lot of people just carry around every key they’ve ever owned “just in case”
