I’m sorry but this band is completely underrated. Billy Corgan is one of the best guitar players to have ever been born. He was fucking unstoppable in the early 90s.
@@ceezer.mp4 underrated cuz they were famous post-nirvana thanks to Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness, their penultimate record before the 2000s (the decade they stopped making commercial successes and actually outside the mainstream)
the smashing pumpkins have the best psychedelic music ever.. get high or drunk and just listen to them for hours on end.. it seems like lifetimes have passed.. its great..
I've been listening to the Pumpkins for almost 3 months now and I already have about 68 of their songs on my ipod! I love them, they are one of my favorite bands and they always will be
so beautiful, i am a musician from the chicago area too and my love and inspiration will be felt further lets keep it moving folks all love and truth in 2025
I was at this concert! It was cool as shit! Reckless Records on Broadway in Chicago. I feel like a bunch of songs they played never made it to any albums...
Ahhh this music takes me back to a lovely and high place in my college days! Pumpkins FOREVER!!! Thank you for this music guys (and gal). Thanks for this rare video too. Love it!
Early Pumpkins was some of the best music I have ever heard. GISH is almost as important to me as Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffitti, if you believe it....maybe SOUNDGARDEN Badmotorfinger too?
It’s cool to see this again knowing that now he got that guitar back. I always felt sad watching this knowing that it was stolen possibly weeks after this performance.
chicagomylem: where did these videos (rare 001-006) come from? Where were they playing and for whom? These are definitely the best SP videos available on UA-cam if you want to know what the SP were like before (and around) Gish. There are a few live from the Metro that are OK. Thanks so much for posting. Gish is simply incredible, and when it came out I listened to it many many many times (usually int he dark). I am 45 now and still listen to Gish daily. Top 10 album of all-time!
This performance was shot at Reckless Records on Broadway in Chicago. The band did a short set to promote the Gish album at the time. It was a free show in the late afternoon in front of 20 or so people.
@@D.Bychowski I was at this show. We were pretty psyched about it at the time and we bought a copy of this video from a guy who recorded it... was that you?
@@guzzopinc1646 No, I audio recorded it with Billy’s permission but no video. I remember the Metro show that night following the in store. I think it was the first time the band ever sold out the Metro.
@@D.Bychowski Yeah... I didnt have tickets to that show... but definitely remember it was a big deal. The first time I saw the Pumpkins they were an opening band for Eleventh Dream Day at the Metro. No one was there.
I can't either. A personal show by SP would leave me on the floor in complete paroxysms from sensory overload. I know they're getting 'audience' response, but based on Billy's guitar and hair, this looks to be around the time they first appeared on SNL. I could be totally wrong, but I 'think' this is a live rehearsal, which close friends/family often attend, not to mention all of the FOH & Stage Monitor Engineers, general technicians, etc. mapping everything out for even a modest 'club' tour.
Man D'arcy the thing that is cool about her is not only her driving low but ive never seen a musician with such good taste consistantly it always seems like her axes are out of fender custom shop
fuck, wow I don't know what else to say. Coming of age in the early 90s this band saw me through some very tough and trying times oh let the nostalgia consume me right now
Really? That's good to know 'cause me and some friends were going to take some 'shrooms and I thought of putting on Gish and watching the Siva, Rhinosceros and Cherub rock videos off my Greatest Hits DVD. I've never taken shrooms before though, so I hope I'm in for a good surprise.
Yeah i agree MarkSP im rly startin to get into SP nd more than jus their mainstream hits their wicked awesome cnt wait to see em in Boston 11/14 nd 11/15 SP ROCKS...
yea i think about that everytime in the crow, with the picture of him in the car with his bandmates.... Makes me think of the video to 1979 with BC with long hair :0P
Seriously? The song Drown is featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Singles", which came out in '92 I believe. It's a Pumpkins classic that they still play at live shows even to this day.
If I could go back to any point in my life, no doubt it would be to the early 90s - what an amazing time to be alive.
'84 onwards i would repeat if i could take back anyone i care about
Golden age
That’s the guitar that Billie lost for like 20 years. He was recently reunited with it
The same thought came to my mind
Gish guitar

Facts! Meth & pumpkins is hella ride!
All the alcoholics and drug addicts agree with you
22 June 1991 at Reckless Records in Chicago
So many amazing bands around this decade, wish i could've been a teenager around this time instead to experience them live during their youth years
this is one of there best songs, or atleast my favorite one.
Billy's guitar brought me here

To be a fly on the wall while they were recording around Gish
I think this was the real deal in terms of musicians come together. There's an honest vibe.

How have I never seen this??!!!!???????!!!!! ❤️🤘
That's exactly what I'm saying 😂.
these live versions of Drown always have the cool little solo that's slightly different from the recorded studio version. very subtle but very cool.
