The Algoma Bear...A mysterious and dark night for the new lady of the Lake to push in. And she was bear-ly making a sound. Loved the close up of Chip on the Missouri. Maybe my favorite glimpse was of the low hanging stratus clouds mixed with the feathery mosaic of the cirrus against the rising sun...a beautiful sight. Thanks.
I just love the night videos!! It just makes the ships look bigger and more impressive!! Beautiful new Great Laker!!! Thank you for sharing this amazing and beautiful new ship!!!
Night videos are the best. I love the black water and smoke, the lights and the drama of it all. Great video and how huge to see the Algoma Bear on her maiden voyage at night!!!
Thanks Lisa! I wish we could have seen a better view of the Bear. But then again, maybe a good view of a bear in the dark isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. 😆
Fascinating footage! The weather was pretty rough on a number of American farmers this year IIRC (the heartland at one point suffered a couple of brutal tornado outbreaks and there might have been a drought in some areas as well), so I'm honestly not too surprised some Canadian oats or other grain are being shipped in (a small amount at least). The Bear looks like a pretty darn impressive freighter!
That would explain the need for the oats delivery. The last time I saw a grain delivery from Thunder Bay to Superior was a couple years ago during a drought.
Hansen-Mueller Elevator: Good morning Algoma Bear! Everything's ready at the "M" dock to receive your load of oats. Oh, and you're not going to bump the dock, are you? Algoma Bear: Ah..... NO. You guys aren't going to let me live that down, are you? Missouri: Hey, it happens. One of those life lesson things. You be nice now, Hansen-Mueller. Oh, and hi 1L2S! Hansen-Mueller Elevator: It's been a long night, and I'm a little punchy. I'll behave, since we need that load of oats the Bear's carrying. Sorry 'bout the slight AB! Algoma Bear: S'ok. Anyway, back to work.

Thanks Carolyn! Nice to know I’m not the only one who makes “bear-ly” jokes. 😁

Thank you! 😊
Remarkable. Great catch on the tug as she maneuvers into position. This was really fun to watch.
The Missouri actually took me by surprise, especially since she snuck down the canal near the pier wall. I could almost reach out and touch her!
Nice Boat. If only current modern day lake freighters were built with Pilot House Forward & Engine workings Aft.

I really enjoyed this video. The darkness and the closeup of the Missouri zipping by gave the video a cinematic feel. 😎

I didn't even know bears liked oats. Well at least this Bear does! 8^) a fine looking vessel. Cheers!
Maybe it’s Honey Bunches of Oats! 😁
What would any of the Equinox-class lakers say to each other when two of them are at Twin Ports?
TWINS!

Nice, from what I can tell. Love the pretty tug as well
Thanks!
